He Even Gave the Homeless the Shirt Off His Back

This is an inspiring story I found.  I see many stories about homeless.  Most people think that what they need is the obvious- a place to sleep or a meal.  This story shows a father and son who took the time to offer an everyday need…shoes.  What a wonderful gift to these people who so often use what they can get (like the guy in the story that is actually wearing women’s shoes that are too small for him).  He goes from homeless person to homeless person and shares this simple but necessary gift.  It is a very moving and lovely expression of generosity and respect to these homeless people in need.  He is so moved when he finds this one man sleeping next door to an upscale restaurant he offers him his shirt off his back.  He then prays with the man before they part ways.  What a blessing he was to these people he met that day.  Be a blessing to someone today.  Share yourself with others.  You will be glad you did.  And as we say…….

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Chris Is A Farmer… What a Farmer He Is!!

This is the amazing story of Chris.  Chris is a farmer. This story brought to us by Bill B.  This video is a little longer than most of our posts but well worth it.  I guarantee that once you start watching this video you will not be able to turn it off till the end.  This story originally was shown on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday- OWN network.   Chris is not an average farmer.  Chris is an amazing farmer because he can do most of things that every farmer does but Chris has no arms and legs.  The things Chris is able to do will amaze you.  His attitude is unstoppable.  The smile on his face while he works shows the true joy he gets from not only being independent but from also being a contributor.  There at Aprocot Lane Farms they don’t just give him token jobs to make him feel a part of the team, he is an important part of the team.  He can do almost anything.  He is able to drive a tractor (with the help of a 2×4).  You will see him racking hay, plowing fields, tending farm animals. His family treated him the same as other children.  He doesn’t wear his prostetic arms and legs as they don’t quite fit for him. He gets along just fine on his own.  As they say in the video, “Chris’ powerful courage is fueled by the acceptance that he has for himself. Imagine if in our own lives if we could all do the same”. WOW.. This is an inspiring story.  Please share this one with all your family and friends.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Utah Town Helps Airman Through Facebook

Here is another story of how Facebook is not just a place to post pictures and play games.  Thanks so much to Sharon A for bringing us this story.  How many of us go onto Facebook just to see what our friends are doing?  Well here is a story of a airman (just back in the country after 7 years oversees)  that was making his way from his home in Vancouver Washington to report for duty in Texas.  As Staff Sergeant Rowan Coash was driving through Utah his car broke down.  He didn’t know what to do.  He called a friend in Washington while he waited for tow truck.  His friend Erica posted on Facebook “Anybody out there in Facebook Land near Price, Utah and willing to help a soldier?”.  He got a rental truck and left his car behind (stored at the house of a resident of Price, UT) to report on time.  The Facebook posts continued to spread and they even got a car repair shop to donate time and rebuild the engine of his car at no cost. The Price community came together to repair the car and even ship the car to Rowan in Texas, again at no charge.

What a great community to step up and help out someone in need. Rowan Coash has served our country for years.  This community took the time and effort to begin to repay that deed.  Way to go Price Utah!!

Daughter Uses Facebook to Save Dad

Facebook is used for many things.  Sometimes we all think we spend too much time on Facebook.  This story really shows you the power of this form of social media.  Brianna Vance thought of facebook in an emergency situation. Brianna lives in West Virginia. Recently Brianna’s dad and two friends were sitting on the front porch when a storm rolled in.  A massive tree crashed down on the three men and they were pinned underneath.  The home didn’t have a landline and the cell service was not working to call 911.  Remarkably their internet service was not affected so Brianna ran to the computer and got on Facebook.  She recorded a frantic message pleading for anyone who could see the message to call 911 to help her father.  She stayed on there until help arrived.  Lt. Tim Granger of the Henlawson, WV Fire Department says the hero is Brianna.  She is really the one who saved her father and the other men.   She is a true hero.  Although she is only 10 years old she had the mindset to do what needed to be done to save her dad.  This may not be what they thought Facebook would be used for when they designed it but it sure came in handy to save this little girls dad.  Great thinking Brianna.

Thanks again to Patricia M for this story.

Homecoming Ends with Proposal

Here is a recent story that has a wonderful happy ending with a proposal.  Ashley waited at the airport for her boyfriend to return from South Africa.  George and Ashley met in Cape Town South Africa while she was serving as a missionary there.  George said that he became fond of Ashley after seeing the love she had for the children she helped on her mission.  As Ashley waited for George to exit the plane she was greated with flowers from every other passanger that stepped off the airplane. George had even written Ashley a song which United Airlines played on the plane.  With an arm full of flowers the last person off the plane was George.  After their embrase, to her surprise,  George got down on one knee and proposed.  Ashley was shocked but, of course, said YES.

What a lovely story.  Two people who met while on a church mission end up falling in love and spending the rest of their lives together.  Thanks so much to Patricia M for bringing us this story.

Soldier Surprises Daughter at Graduation

There is nothing better than watching your child graduate.   Thank you to Mark B. for this story.  This is a special graduation for Taylor Crafton a North Dakota high school student.  Her father, Chris Crafton is deployed overseas.  He has been deployed 9 times since she was three.  He has missed many special events during her life.  A friend of the family had a cut out picture made for Taylor so she could see her father there at her graduation.  To surprise the entire family (not just Taylor but her mom too) he was waiting backstage as they announced her name to recieve her diploma.

Don’t you just love these reunion stories?  I sure do.  I can’t get enough of these.  It was great that he was not only able to be there but was also able to surprise the entire family.  You can sure see the joy in her face when she sees her dad and when she talks about him afterwards.

Thanks again to Mark B for sharing this story.  Do you have a story to share- one that will bring joy to others who watch it?  Please send it our way and we will share it for you.  Just send it to alittlegoodnewsmail@gmail. com or message us on our facebook page.

Child Drives Car When Mom Passes Out

This is an amazing story of a child who does what she can and drives the car after her mom has a medical emergency. Thanks to Denise S. for bringing us this story.  Abby Porter is an 8 year old who was riding in the car with her mom on the way to school.  All of a sudden Abby notices that her mom has passed out.  She was able to reach for the wheel and drive the car.  She even tried to steer the car towards her Dad’s house when a police office saw the girl and her mom.  Officer Hamilton noticed the female driver was having a medical emergency.  He pulled up next to them and asked Abby to put the car in park.  She said she did not know how so he told her that he was going to pull in front to slow down her car.  He instructed Abby to bump his car until the vehicle slowed down.  No one was hurt and Abby was able to make it to school on time.  The Galena Police Department plans to give Abby an award for her bravery.  What a brave little girl to keep a cool head and to save her mom and herself by driving the car until help came.  You are a hero Abby.

Waffle House Waitress Finally Gets Her Tip

A single mom working to raise her 3 children was working hard on Mother’s Day.  We all know that waitresses work mainly for tips.  This is Shaina Brown’s story about what happened to her as she was working  the night shift at Waffle House.  It was Mother’s Day when she waited on a man who came in at 3am for a late night dinner.  Shaina loves to spend time with her customers and this night was no different.  The customer exchanged conversation with Shaina about her life and how hard she was working to support her family.  The customer said he would like to “Bless Her” that night.  He gave her a $1,000.00 tip which he included on his credit card payment.  Unfortunately, Waffle House does not allow large tip via credit cards (concerned customers could have a change of heart and reverse the charges) so they said they could not give her the tip.  Waffle House refunded the customer the tip.  Later Shaina after speaking with a reporter about the incident was able to reconnect with the customer who met her personally later to give her a personal check for the $1,000.00.  He said he really wanted her to have it.  What a wonderful gift of generosity from a stranger.

Passerby Saves the Day

It was a normal day until a passerby came across an unbelievable sight. Bryan Collins was driving down the road and to his surprise he saw something out of the corner of his eye.  He was traveling down the road and he saw a little baby crawling towards the highway.  Bryan did what anyone would do he stopped and rescued this little baby.  He called 911 to report the child.  The dispatcher couldn’t believe what he was hearing.  When the authorities came they arrested the baby’s father.  The baby had crawled some 300 yards through the woods and down an embankment towards the highway.  Bryan stayed with the baby for over 2 hours comforting the little one.  He even played the baby some gospel music and said,”The baby started crying so I turned my phone on and let her listen to some gospel music, and she calmed right down.” To add to this story Bryan told the reporter that he himself had been saved from a bad life.  While serving a prison term Collins said he decided to turn his life around.  If it wasn’t for that he wouldn’t have been there to save the life of this precious little one.  Way to go, Bryan.  You are our hero.

A Little Good News – 1 year Anniversary

How time flies when you are having fun.  It has been 1 year today that we started bringing you A Little Good News each weekday morning.  Today, I decided to show you our inspiration for this site.  Back in 1983 Anne Murray recorded this song.  I am sure you agree that we all could just use a little good news each day.  As you watch this video you will notice that not much has really changed in 31 years.  The news we see on TV is the same.  The technology may have changed but the message is the same.  That is why Loren Dalton brought you this site to give you A Little Good News each day.  Some you may have liked better than others.  Some may (even though we try to show good news) may make you shed a tear.

As you may know Loren and his family has been called to serve a mission in Brazil for a few years.  So while he will be greatly missed we will try very hard to uphold his standards and continue to bring you these messages every weekday. We enjoy hearing from you from time to time when you see a great story to share.  You can continue to reach us at alittlegoodnewsmail@gmail.com.   Thank you for being with us this past year and I hope that you will continue to follow us in the years to come.  We still all need a little good news today.  Good Luck Loren, Annette and Jenna.  God Bless You.
