The Story of Sam’s Miracle

This is an amazing story.  This is the story of Sam Schmid.  Back in 2011 Sam was in a horific car crash.  People said he would never survive.  Sam says it was a miracle that he survived but he fought hard to survive.  He was in a coma for a long time after the surgery which saved his life.  It came to a time where the family was considering taking him off life support.  They decided to wait a week longer and the miracle happened. Sam woke up. He worked so hard to progress from even swallowing to walking to playing basketball and returning to work. He has spent 2 1/2 years recovering.  He knows that the pain is worth the effort to get better.   He speaks of the hard work, dedication and perserverence.  He says, “Never give up.  Find the miracle within you”.  What a wonderful outlook he has on life.  Just image you having that philosophy without the trials that Sam had to endure.  You could do anything.

Thanks to Tim M for bringing us this story.

Man Who Donates Kidney Gets a Break

Daniel Burdick is a musician who is trying to make it in the music business.   Recently he was ready to leave on tour when he found out that his ex-girlfriend (and the mother of his young daughter) needed a kidney transplant.  After getting tested he found out he was a perfect match so he cancelled his tour and stepped up to give her his kidney.  That gift saved her life.  Even though they are no longer together as a couple their ties with their daughter made his decision an easy one.  Having a daughter together has kept them close.  ”She does a lot and she’s really good at it. So the kids deserve to have her in their life” Daniel says.  Now that the operation is over and all is well Daniel can get back to the business of making music.  It wasn’t long after this story hit that many music producers, recording studios and even a manager have contaced Daniel to offer help.    This clip tells his story but also tell how a local radio station is stepping in to help Daniel out.  Music director Mike Brady says, “Number one, it’s about the music.. and Daniel, as you know has an incredible gift.  He sounds awesome but the back story is just phenomenal”.  Great job Daniel.  We wish you the best at your career.

Check Out What This Pageant Contestant Wore

Here is an inspirational story that is a little different.  Patrica M found this story about an amazing woman. Most beauty pageant contestants are “perfect” in every way.  At least that is the image they want to portray while the compete for what ever title they are going for.  That is different for Miss Idaho winner Sierra Sandison.  Sierra suffers from Type 1 Diabetes so severely that she is required to wear an insulin pump on her side at all times.  Wearing her pump during competition was exactly what Sierra was going to do.  Sierra wanted to inspire others who suffer from the condition and may feel uncomfortable about wearing their pumps in public.  It was especially obvious during the swimsuit competition.   She even started the hashtag #showmeyourpump which has encouraged others to upload photos of them wearing their pumps. Way to Go Sierra.  You really show us all that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes and health conditions.  We thank you for courage and wish you contiued success in your future.

Toddler Rescues Elderly Man from Hot Car

Help can come from anyone and anywhere.  This is a story of a toddler who came to the rescue.  Bob King has had numerous cancer treatments and has also suffered from two strokes in the past six months.  Bob and his wife Jenny were out running errands.  Bob said he would wait in the car while Jenny stopped at the church.  It was a hot day (in the 90s).  Bob tried to roll down the windows but they were stuck.  He didn’t have the strength to open the door.  Bob spotted Keith walking past and knocked on the window to get his attention.  Keith is 3 years old and barely 3 feet tall.  He tried to open the door but when he was unable to get it to budge he ran for help.  Keith grabbed his pastor Jack Greene.  He pulled on his hand and said “locked, locked” “hot hot”.  Pastor Greene followed Keith to the car. When Pastor Greene got the door open he helped Bob into the church to cool off and get him some water.  Surprisingly Keith’s mother had just taught him about hot car safety days before.  When asked Keith says, “I saved life”.  Little Keith is our hero.  Way to go Keith.

Thanks once again Patricia M for this story.  Keep ‘em coming.

Lowe’s Employees Come to the Aid of a Vet

Michael Sulsona is a disabled Vietnam Vet who lost both legs during the war.  Recently Michael was in Lowe’s getting some fencing for his yard when his wheel chair broke.  He had been trying to get a replacement chair from the VA but they would just send a repairman.  Those repairs would not last long.  This day he was lucky to be in Lowe’s where the employees immediately (even though it was close to closing time) jumped into action and began replacing all the nuts and bolts on his chair.  They told him that they wanted to make his chair like new again.  Michael thanked them but they told him that it was their honor to help him.  What a great group of men who saw an opportunity to help out one of our veterans and was willing to do what ever it took to make this chair like new again.  Michael was very grateful.

Thanks to Lowe’s for hiring such upstanding employees.  Now with all the publicity this story has created the VA has now sent Michael a new wheelchair.  Thanks to Mark B. and Patricia M for sending us this story.  Keep watching for these great stories.

Daughter Surprises Stepdad

What makes a Dad?  Someone who is caring and is always there for you – even if he might not be your biological Dad.  This is a story of a Stepdad who is more like a Dad than a stepdad.  This man gave up things he wanted to do when he started his new family.  He became the Dad for this girl and did everything a Dad would do.  She tells of all the time he spent with her reading and even coaching her softball team.  She heard the story that he gave us his Porsche that he was going to restore.  He used the money instead to marry her mom.  So she thought she would try to find that car and give it to him.  This video shows how much he means to her and what this gesture meant to him.  It is so touching.  Dave, you did a great job with this little girl and Kristen, you are one awesome daughter.

Good Samaritan with a Gun

This story could have turned out much different if it hadn’t been for a gun carrying good samitan.  On this day a woman was shopping in a local store in Houston Texas.  The lady was attacked by two people to take her purse.  The lady was fighting back (never a good idea).  As she held on to her purse a man jumped out of his car and pulled his gun holding the people until the police arrived.  What would have happened if he didn’t have a gun?  We can only guess but in this case it really paid off for him to be there at the same time and to have his weapon and be able to help this lady until the police arrived.  Let’s take this story for two things.  Always be watchful of your surroundings and be prepared to help out when you can.  Thanks go out to the stranger who stepped in when he was needed.  I for one am glad that he was prepared to do what he had to help and especially that no one was injured during the attack.

He Was A Father To Others

This was a story around Father’s Day that we just discovered.  This is so touching how this man could step in to be a father to his friend’s kids after 9/11.  He is a member of the New York Fire Department. After he lost his friend on 9/11 without being asked, he stepped in to take care of his friend’s family.  He became a father for those kids even though he has kids of his own. He has two families who think of him as a father.  This was  a story from Good Morning Amercia where they honored him and all the things he did for these two families.  He is not only a devoted servant of New York City by being a firefighter, he is also a devoted family man.  Both for his family and the family of his friend.  He is also a huge football fan.  They honored him by giving him a trip to the game to see the New York Jets and even a message from Joe Namath.  He was so touched. It was so great to see someone who never expected anything in return for his kindness be so touched by others.

Thanks to Mark B for finding this story and letting us know.

Prank for Good – Helping the Homeless

There are many stories about people who do pranks on others.  Most of the time those are to make someone look foolish or to upset someone.  This story is about a prank that is for good.  This prank is on the owner of a pizza parlor.  Watch this video and see how these guys pull this prank on their friend (who owns the store).  But in fact it really is not a prank at all.  It is an opportunity for them to serve the homeless.  Once they get into the pizza parlor (after making up a story that they left their wallet there on a visit earlier in the day) they make short work of making as many pizzas as they can.  They make 30 pizzas.  Then they leave their friend the money for the supplies and go to work.  They head down to a shelter and start handing out hot pizzas to homeless.  They get smiles and even prayers.  They even gave them $5 for drinks as they did not have drinks to pass out.  How wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of the people who they are serving.  But watch closely.  I think they are enjoying giving almost as much as the people who get the pizzas are about receiving.  Giving is a wonderful thing.  This is my kind of prank.  Thank you guys for showing us how fun it is to give.

Friendship For All Ages

This is a true heartwarming story of two friends.  This friendship is different from most.  You see, these two friend’s ages are decades apart. But that does not stop them.  Erling Kindem is 89 years old.  About a year ago the little boy next door, just two years old at the time, came over to pay Erling a visit.  The two became fast friends.  They spend a lot of time together.  Emmett’s mom even snapped a picture of the path that Erling made with the snow blower so that during the winter they could still get together.  Emmett loves to help Erling. They mow together, they play games together and they care for Erling’s garden.   It is wonderful to watch the connection these two have for each other.  I will warn you that this story will touch your heart. The end of the video does take a turn that I was not ready for.  Get the tissues ready.  Change is hard.  Let’s all hope that even through this change the two can stay life long friends.  Spend time with the elderly.  They have decades of memories to share and teach us.
