What Does the Homeless Man Do With the Money

This is a guy who likes to do You Tube videos.  Today his video was an experiment on what would happen if you gave $00 to a homeless man on the street asking for money. He follows the guy and records what he would do with the money.  He  assumes the worst but is quite surprised to see what happens.  He sees the guy go into a liquor store/market.  He comes out with a large bag.  He then walks to a nearby park and digs into his bag and pulls out food for the people in the park.  After watching for a while Josh (the blogger) goes up to Thomas (the homeless man) and tells him what he was doing.  He then apologizes to Thomas for assuming that he would do something bad with the money. Being so moved he gives Thomas another $100 as Thomas tells him his story of how he became homeless.  He says most of the time it is a case of bad luck and bad timing that makes people homeless.  Thanks to Patricia M for sharing this story with us.  If you would like to help Thomas out of his situation you can donate to  https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-thomas-to-get-a-fresh-start and help him get a fresh start.  So far they have raised over $122,000. It will only continue until January 21.

Living Wake becomes Wedding for Cancer Patient

Here is a story about a remarkable woman and man.  Liza Haynie is a beautiful young woman full of life.  She and her boyfriend Wyatt were doing what normal young people do, living life to the fullest.  They met at college and planned on getting married and moving to Atlanta to start their life together.  Liza was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma arare disease that strikes down young people. She had been in ramission for 3 years when the new test showed it was back and worse then before.  Wyatt would not let this keep Liza from having the wedding of her dreams.  So, in less than 48 hours they planned and pulled off a wedding with 100 guests.  It was a day full of joy and celebration.  Even though Liza has now only been given less than 30 days to live they wanted to marry and enjoy what time they have left.  Liza will participate in a new chemo therapy that will help shrink her tumor and allow her to live longer.  Thanks to Patricia M for bringing us this story full of hope to share.  If you would like to donate to research for this condition you can on her “go fund me” page at gofundme.com/loveforliza.  They have already raised over $360,000.

Santa Helps Soldier Propose

This will my last post about Christmas for this year.  I just couldn’t let this one get by.  This story is about a soldier who wanted to propose to his girlfriend.  The problem was he is still stationed in Afganistan.  He, of course, wanted to do it himself but because he would not be back in the states until next June he needed to enlist the help of others.  He first called his girlfriend’s mom and asked if she could help.  She got Kimberly Robert’s dad to help get her to go to the mall to ” do Christmas shopping”.   She went along and agreed to sit with Santa and tell him what she wanted for Christmas.  She told Santa that she wanted her boyfriend to come home from Afganistan safe.  When she did, Santa pulled out a bouquet of flowers.  He then got down on on one knee and read the proposal that was written by her boyfriend. Clint.  As you can see in this video she is totally taken by surprise.  Great job Clint.  We think this was a great idea and really worked.  I am sure Kimberly will never forget her proposal.  Take care Clint and get home to her as soon as you can.

Family Poses with Santa for 60 years

Merry Christmas to Everyone.  Here is a wonderful Christmas story of family (The Wilsons) who has been sitting on Santa’s lap for the past 60 years.  What a wonderful tradition.  There was only one year (1978) when they were all not in the picture.  Every year without argument they go to the store and stand in line to see Santa and have their picture taken. As years went by they even included the spouses.  What a wonderful tradition.

We all have holiday traditions.  Some include Santas and some include trees and some include the manger.  This is the time of year for traditions.  Learn the true meaning of Christmas with your family and friends. Spend a few moments watching this family’s tradition and then make some of your own.  Share your life with others.   May the joy of the season fill your lives and the lives of your family. We have enjoyed sharing these and other Christmas stories with you this holiday season.  From A Little Good News to all of you… Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

USAF Band Flash Mob

Merry Christmas to Everyone.  This is a wonderful video at the 2014 at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.  They suprised the visitors with this flash mob performance.  Oh how wonderful it would have been to be there the day they do this performance.  The sounds in that hanger must have been amazing.  Thank you to the men and woman who serve in the armed services especially those that are serving right now and are away from their families and friends during this holiday season.  You service is always appreciated. I thought this might be a wonderful way to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Please take a few minutes out of your celebrations to enjoy this beautiful music.  We wish you the most wonderful holiday season.  May it be filled with joy of family and friends around you.  Spread the joy of the season with everyone you meet.  Smile at strangers. Help the poor.  Enjoy each other.  Merry Christmas to you and yours. And may you have the happiest of New Years.

The Silent Monks

It’s Christmas Eve.  What a wonderful time of year.  Many little ones won’t be able to sleep tonight as they wait to see if the tree is full of presents tomorrow morning.  As we prepare for the holiday we take a few minutes to enjoy a little song.  It is a different way to hear a favorite song.  This is a performance by a high school group playing monks. It is so entertaining.  What a cute way to share this song.  I will think of it differently everytime I hear it.

Now I just want to thank everyone for following this site throughout the year.  I hope we have been able to bring you some joy.   We may also have shed a few tears together while watching some of these stories.  I try to find appropriate news stories but sometimes just have share some cute stories like this one that just bring a smile to your face.  I appreciate those of you who are contacting me with stories that I can share with all of you.  I would ask that you take a few minutes to share these stories with your friends and family.  Everyone could use a little good news everyday.  Let’s see if in the new year we can grow this site to more and more people and share the good news.

Now remember the real reason for the season.  Please share the story of the manger and of the baby who came to save the world.  Merry Christmas to you all.

Santa Brings Another Soldier Home

This time it is in St. Charles Missouri.  Santa is seeing all the children at Bass Pro Shops.  Like usual the children are coming to Santa to tell him what they want for Christmas.  Many want dolls, trucks, bikes and balls.  But today, there is a special little girl who is coming to visit Santa and ask for a very special gift. Mady  Pholman and her mom have come to Bass Pro Shop to see Santa and ask for a different kind of gift.  Mandy asks Santa if he can bring her daddy home from Afghanistan.  He has been away for many months and she misses her daddy very much.  While she is stting on Santa’s lap she sees the door open to the house next to Santa and out walks her daddy.  What a happy day for her.  If only all the little children who have a mommy or daddy away would be able to come home for Christmas.  We can only hope that there are many stories like this.  Thanks to Bass Pro Shop for helping with this reunion.  Merry Christmas to all those serving in the military this holiday season.  May you all be able to return home soon safe and sound.

Secret Santa in Kansas City

There is a man in Kansas City that uses this time of year for random acts of kindness.  Every year this man gives away away about $100,000 anonymously to needy people.  This year Secret Santa is getting the help of the Kansas City Police department to distribute his money to needy people.  The police went out on patrol and they would stop people who appeared to need some financial help this season.  Most people were really concerned when they were stopped until the officer explained why he stopped them.  Most people were so surprised that they burst into tears.  One lady even said that she was not going to be able to get her kids anything for Christmas until now.  Now this Secret Santa said he not only wanted to give money to people but also wanted the officers to be able to give it away.  There has been some bad police stories this year that he wanted the police to also get the joy of giving this money out.  They got the chance to be the bearer of good news for a change.  They got a chance to help homeless and the law abiders.  There were hugs and celebrations.  What a great way for the police to help Secret Santa to make the holidays better for people in need.  Great job Kansas City.

Breakthough for Alzheimer’s Patients

This video is a little longer than most of our videos but you need to watch all the way to end.  Many of us have some family or friends that have been affected by Alzheimers in some way.  It is very hard to watch our loved ones leave us while they are still here when they are touched by this horrible disease.  It is very hard to watch but at the end of the video you see a breakthough she has with this patient who has been stricken since 2000 and is now vertually unable to speak.  This video shows Naomi Feil, founder of Validation Therapy, as she shares a breakthrough moment of communication with Gladys Wilson, a woman who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2000 and is virtually non-verbal. It is something that doesn’t happen everytime she visits one of these patients but it is something that she has experienced.  She describes what you need to do to help them when they cannot communicate to you.  It is amazing what you can do with love and patience. Her organization has more information on their website at www.memorybridge.org.  Thank you to Patricia M for sharing this story with us.

Firefighters Teaches CPR in a Fun Way

This is a fun video with a purpose.  Thanks to the Chattanooga firefighters graduating class of 2013 for putting together this educational but yet fun video on how to do CPR.  These real life firefighters who took their personal time to create a video to help those of us who may find themselves in a position where they need to use this life saving procedure.  By making it fun and memorable you may be able to do something to save a life until professional help can arrive.  If you have the time continue to watch as they start to go through the credits at the end (this video is a little longer than most of our videos) as they still provide important information that will help you if you find yourself in an emergency situation.  When you learn something with this kind of fun, you will remember it.  What a great idea to educate the public with this type of  information.  Take the time to share this video not only for the fun of it but for the information it provides. Do your family a favor and share this information.
