New Citizen Waitress gets great tip

Megan Asadi is a single mom who was a refugee from Iran.  She loves this country so much that she just recently became a citizen.  As a single mom she works at a local restaurant in Herndon, Virginia.  On this day a group of people came in to have lunch together.  The groupl does this quite often and calls it a “tip Bomb”.  After their lunch and check of $128 they left their tip.  On this day their tip was $1200.  They told the owner that they wanted to make sure that she saw their tip on the table.  She was quite surprised.  It sounds like she is a wonderful waitress and well liked at this restaurant.  What a great thing for this group to do.  We should always treat people with respect and care for them in whatever way we can.  Not all of us can give a tip of this size but to treat people with caring and love is the way to be.  Thanks to this secret group of diners.  Keep doing what you do.  Thank you to Patricia M for suggesting this story.

Amazing Teacher gets surprise on Ellen

A kindergarten teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico went to the Ellen show.  She thought she was just there to enjoy the show.  That was until Ellen called out her name.  Sonya Romero was being recognized by Ellen for her actions.   She spends the first hour of each day making sure her students have had breakfast, are wearing clean clothes and have brushed their teeth.  She feels like teachers are like “first responders” caring for their students. She tells about two students that needed help when Child Protective Services came to the school.  They had no where to go so she took in the children and they are still with her for six months now.  She has taken these children into her home as foster children.  Her students love her so much they sent her a video message of how much she means to them.  She spends her own money to buy things for her students and for her school.  Ellen even heard that a good samartan gave her $100 to help with the kids but she gave it to a lady that she met on the beach that was crying and needed help.  Ellen then let’s her know that she is giving her $10,000 to help with the kids and that Target was giving her school $10,000 also.  Way to go Sonya.  Thisis the kind of teacher our kids need.

Get Well Card Pays Off

Joseph and Jodi Amaricie won $7 Million from the New York Lottery.  He says he doesn’t play the lottery very often.  In fact, he didn’t buy it this time.  Joseph received the lottery scratcher card in a get well card from his dad.  Joseph had just had surgery and received a get well card from his dad with a scratcher in it.   After scratching off the card he discovered that he had won 7 million dollars.  I am sure he looked it over many times before believing that he won.  How many times have we given a scratcher to a friend or family member never really expecting them to win something large?   I hope this couple will use this windfall for something good.  I am sure it will take a while for them to decide what to do with this new found wealth.  A great big thank you to Dad is due at the very least.

Man reunited with Time Capsule

Have you ever thought of putting together a time capsule?  Taking things that mean something to you today and putting it in a container and hiding it to find another day.  That is what a 12 year old boy did some 37 years ago.  The 37-year-old time capsule discovered in a Fontana, California home last December has been returned to the man who hid it as a 12-year-old boy. Texas resident Robert Wright, 49, told ABC News today he flew with his father to their former home this past weekend to pick up the 1978 time capsule and its contents — a letter Wright wrote to himself, a McDonald’s scratch card game, newspaper clippings and coins. “It was surreal,” Wright said. “I never thought I’d see it again.”

What would you put in a time capsule?  What would you want people of the future to find to learn about you and the times you are living in?  What would they know about you by what you put in the capsule?  How awesome is it that they were able to return this to Robert.  I bet he never thought he would see it again.

Rescue for two strays

Here is a video  from an organization called Hope for Paws.  They were called by some people who noticed these two dogs living on the street for over a month.  They worked hard to help the dog not be afraid and allow them to come close. These folks took their time to show the dog that they were there to help.  They focussed on the one as the other watched from a distance.  This rescue took some time but they were finally able to get a leash on the dog.  This dog probably never had a leash on so again they started over to regain her trust.  Finally they were able to get the dog to allow them to pick up the dog.  They next focussed on the little dog to corner this one and gain his trust.  Finally they got both dogs home to bath, feed and help them know that someone cares.  This group does this to help stays find a forever home.  Thanks to people like these to help dogs trust again.

Friend helping friend – only 7 years old

Colin Cox and Ryan Branson are old friends.  Well, they have really only known each other for two years.   Colin spent some time as little boy with a dibilitating disease.  His mom thinks it made him more compassionate.  Colin came home from school and told his mom that his friend’s house burned down. He asked his mom to make a video to help Ryan’s family.  He had lost everything and he needed help.  So Colin made a video asking for help.  Thanks to his help they have already raised over $9000 to help Ryan’s family.  How beautiful to hear these little 7 year olds talk about what Colin did, “Because that is what friends do, they help each other.”  These two are like little “old souls”.  As they say to each other at the end of the video, “Your the best friend ever. What would I do without you”.  How awesome that these two boys can show us all the true meaning of friendship and how to help each other in hard times.  Colin, you are amazing and what a great friend you truly are. You are true example to all of us.

Their paths crossed even before they met

Do you ever think about the people you pass on the street? ” Have I seen her before?”  ”Do I know him?”  Would you be surprised if you spent time with someone when you were a child that you became close with as an adult.  That is what this story is about.  Ryan Spencer was watching one of his wife Jourdan’s childhood home videos when he saw someone very unexpected … himself!  The video was taken on a 1988 trip to the amusement park Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, 16 years before the couple met on their first blind date.  It shows 10-year-old Jourdan returning from a waterslide. That’s when 13-year-old, bespectacled Ryan walks through the shot.

This report on “Fox and Friends Weekend,” Jourdan said they were in complete shock when they first saw the video. They had to keep stopping and rewinding to be sure. ”When I first saw the movie, when I was watching it with Jourdan, I was kind of joking around at first, like, ‘Wow, that looks like me,’” Ryan explained. “And then I said, ‘That is me!”

You never know who you meet as you pass through life.  Take the time to notice who is around you.  Who knows that person passing by may make a huge change to your life.

6 year old saves sister

6 year old Cole Steffens was having a snack with his little sister.  Suddenly his sister began to choke on the pretzels.  Cole’s dad ran to help his sister and told Cole to call 911.  He didn’t hesitate and ran to the phone.  He dialed 911 and spoke with the dispatcher as his dad worked to help his little sister.  He was able to talk with the dispatcher and give him all the information he needed to get help to come to the house.  He was able to give his address and all the details about his sister.  When help arrived at their door the pretzel had dislodged and she was going to be ok.  The fire department was so impressed with Cole and how he handled himself during the emergency.  He was impressed that there was so many people at the department to shake his hand.  What a “grown-up” little man.  He was so cool and collected when his dad needed him to be.  This is a lesson that all parents should remember.  Teach your children how to get help.  Who knows it might save your life someday.

Girls get food instead of presents

Gabbie and Alice are good friends.  They love to help others.  They had a birthday coming and decided to have a joint birthday party.  They decided to help out the food pantry at school.  So instead of asking for presents they asked people to bring food for their school food pantry.  In the past they have helped out at homeless shelter and at the animal shelter.  They are really amazing kids.  They raised $20,000 in donations not counting the food  they have raised.  By being on Ellen the Shutterfly company added another $20,000 to the fund. How wonderful these two little girls are to care about others.  It is so awesome to watch how much these little girls care about others.  What could we do to be like these little girls to help others.  To their parents, you have done a great job with these little girls.  They are amazing.

What a wonderful thing actor Robert Downey Jr. did for this little boy.  Alex a seven year old loves superheroes and riding his bike.
