Aldi Worker Helps Elderly

Here is a story of an employee seeing a need and meeting it.  Christian is a worker at Aldi grocery store in the United Kingdom.  Working there he noticed a few customers that needed a little more help than others.  Checking with his manager he got permission to help this elderly man.  The man was afraid to go home alone due to the weather outside. Christian carried the man’s groceries and walked him home.  What a wonderful gesture for this young man to do for his client.  How many of us would have dropped what we were doing and walked a stranger to his home.  This is the kind of thing we should all do without regards to our own time.  Helping others in any way possible.  Way to go Christian. You are a great employee and a wonderful person.

The Ride of His Life

Kenneth Broskey is a grandfather who has discovered he has battle with cancer that he can’t win.  Knowing he doesn’t have long to live Kenneth decided that he wanted to earn money to pay of his house to help take care of his daughter and grandchildren.  Kenneth decided to give rides for money by becoming an Uber driver.  He wants to earn as much money as he can to pay of his house so that his daughter and grandchildren can continue to stay in the house once he is gone.  One ride changed his life.  Roland Gainer called for a ride but got so much more.  In hearing of Ken’s story Roland is helping Ken earn the money he needs in the time he has left.  Roland set up a GoFundMe page to ask people to help him get to the goal to pay off his house.  What a great gift to give to his man to help him get through this difficult time.  The real good news here is that they reached their goal of $95k in just 13 days.  Thanks to the 3,714 people who donated and helped them reach this goal.  Thanks to Patricia M for bringing us this story.

A Town Celebrates Her Day

A 10-year-old girl with a rare genetic disorder just wanted people to come to her birthday.Mackenzie Moretter has Sotos Syndrome–it left her with some brain damage and makes it difficult for her to make friends. When no one responded to invitations to her birthday party, her mom reached out on Facebook and Mackenzie got much more than a party. Mackenzie thought no one would come to her 10th birthday party.“I have a hard time making friends at school,” she said. But when people heard her story, they responded in a very big way. Everyone showed up to celebrate — from neighbors, to strangers, to big names. Even former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Charles Johnson came out to celebrate with Mackenzie.“I know how it feels to be at a low point, and I just wanted to come here and show her that people do have hearts,” Johnson said. Mackenzie’s mother, Jenny, was overwhelmed with the support for her daughter. The City of Shakopee even declared April 18 as “Mackenzie Moretter Day.” She opened presents and guests enjoyed the 30 dozen cupcakes that were ordered for the event. It’s a birthday Mackenzie will never forget. All together, about 400 people came to celebrate and all of the food was donated from local businesses as well. Thanks to Patricia M for sharing this story.

Could you pick out your mom?

No words are neccessary for this lovely little video.  It was a small experiment of women’s uniqueness and the special bond between a mother and child.  They met up with 6 wonderful women, and asked them to let us blindfold their most precious loved ones. Their children!  Here is what happened: The children were guided towards the group of women, and using their senses and intuition asked to try to find the one they believed to be their mother. Anxiety, love and a bit of heartfelt tears filled the room as children from the age of 3-9 tried and succeed in finding the one and only they could call mom! All women are unique in shape, personality and heart, and so is the beautiful connection and precious love we saw this day.  This was a video commercial created for Pandora but the lesson we can learn from it is that our mom is special to each of us and we can alway find our sweet mom even if we are blindfolded.  This was truly a sweet experiment.

Louisville Police Officer Helps Runner Finish

Asia Mystory Ford decided  to start losing weight after her husband lost a limb due to diabetes.  She lost over  217 lbs.  To celebrate her weight loss she decided to compete in The Rodes City Run which is a 10k in historic downtown Louisville, Kentucky.  As she was only 2 miles from the finish line she started to feel bad.  She was approached by Officer Aubrey Gregory who offered to get her an ambulance to take care of her.  She said she did not want to stop so Officer Gregory stepped up to help her and do the last two miles together. Asia, her son and Officer Gregory walked the last two miles together and finished the race.  This story spread fast on social media.  It is wonderful to hear a good story about a police officer who spent his time helping a citizen achieve her goal.  Not only did he help her complete the race. He got a forever friend.  You are amazing Asia Ford. You may not have been the fastest runner but you made it.  You are a hero Officer Gregory. You both are inspiring to us all.

She writes a message to her dad

Teenager tells her astronaut father she loves him by writing giant message in the desert that can be seen from SPACE. Stephanie from Houston, Texas, has a father who works as an astronaut. She wrote a message on land that could be seen from the space station using 11 cars that created the 59 million sq ft message in Nevada’s Delamar Dry Lake. Sending post to space is problematic, so when a teenager from Houston, Texas, wanted to send a message to her astronaut father, she had to be creative.
13-year-old Stephanie decided that long-distance phone calls weren’t enough and she wanted to given her father a visual note of how much she missed him while he was away.
The next time the NASA employee was up in space, she decided to create a huge art project in the desert that he would be able to see from the International Space Station.  Her father is a keen photographer and likes to take pictures of the earth when he is floating in space. Stephanie thought she could use his hobby to send him a message from back on earth.

She enlisted the help of car manufacturer Hyundai to make the earth drawing, that has now broken a world record for its size. The car company used eleven sedans to draw the message on the land in Nevada’s Delamar Dry Lake, that read ‘Steph [hearts] you!’ using coordinates and a helicopter. Her father took a picture of the image from space to show his daughter that her plan had worked. Measuring 5,556,411.86 square metres or 59,808,480.26 square feet, the Guinness World Record has now declared it the largest tire track image ever. What a clever idea and a great plan to tell Dad that you love him.

Boy helps firefighters find him

A 13-year-old Maryland boy impeccably directed firefighters through his burning home to the room where he and sister were Sunday morning, ultimately saving their lives.Throughout the 11-minute call, Marcus can be heard leading firefighters to his location and bravely calming his little sister down. Marcus, 13, immediately called authorities when he saw smoke inside his home.He told the 911 dispatcher he was at home with his big brother, mother, step-father and 9-year-old little sister. At one point, the sister says “We’re going to die!” and Marcus responds “Stop! Please don’t say that!” The 13-year-old  boy remained calm, taking direction from the dispatcher all while checking on his family during a fire at his family home. The teen then flawlessly explained how firefighters could find him. The 911 dispatcher worked with the boy to keep his sister calm as firefighters worked hard to get to the family.  When firefighters arrived, they broke the wrong window to rescue the children, but Marcus quickly corrected the situation. One firefighter, 25-year-old Lt. Kevin Ward, got to the scene and immediately went upstairs to rescue Marcus when he felt his little sister tugging at his leg. Lt. Ward immediately took his air mask off and put it on the 9-year-old, ABC News said. The two siblings were treated for smoke inhalation at a nearby children’s hospital. Their mother, step-dad and brother were also taken to a nearby hospital but weren’t seriously injured. What amazing young man to save his family.  Way to go Marcus.

Restores your faith in humanity

Somedays we need to see something that just makes us feel better.  You look around and there is no humanity.  People rush around.  Noone is caring for anyone.  Then you see a wonderful little video like this one.  Here are some new video clips of people helping animals out of some pretty tough spots.  This video really restores your faith in humanity.  There is even a clip at the end of clip.  People helping out when needed.  Starting with a dog on a floating iceberg.  Swimming out to save a dog.  Risking their own lives to save the creatures of the world.  Such kindness is beyond measure.  What an amazing group of people who risk everything to save others.  Beautiful and sweet.  I love these type of videos.   Thank you to all of you who do take a risk to rescue others in danger.

Rainworks – Rain Activated Art

Happy Earth day!!  Here is a great story about caring for the earth and joy to people at the same time.Peregrine Church is a man with a plan.  He creates street art that only shows up when it rains. Hidden when dry, these messages or images appear on sidewalks all over Seattle and are meant to brighten your day, even when it’s gray and rainy!  He was watching a video on the internet one day showing a guy demonstrating a chemical that would keep you dry.  They were pouring red wine on white clothes and nothing soaked in.  He thought this could be something we could use to bring message to people on rainy days.  Living in Seattle he began creating these messages all over town.  This product is environmentally safe.  It is just plain clever and fun to those who cross these messages.  What a great idea to use this to bring joy to people on rainy days.  Great job sir.  I think we should be using this everywhere to just bring a little message of joy to people.  I love this idea.  What do you think?  So simple yet it can be so powerful.

Makeovers for everyone

For the residents at Mount Olivet Senior Care Center a group stylists called “I AM KINDNESS” came into the center to do makeovers on some of the residents.  After the makeover they took them to a photographer who created some very special photos of these ladies.  After all that they were escorted into the room to share their new looks with everyone.  How special of a day for these lovely ladies.  Some of them said that they have never had a makeover before.  This little time and effort brought so much joy to the ladies.  What a wonderful gift.  How beautiful they are all both inside and out.  I AM KINDNESS performs these random acts of kindness throughout the city.  This is a great gesture that this group does for these wonderful ladies.  They felt so special and beautiful.
