A Special Prom Invite

Corning High School student Cope Robinson asked Autumn Pollard to prom this year in front of the entire student body during a pep rally. Pollard is a junior at Corning High School and has Noonan syndrome. Her parents said it affects growth, the heart and several other aspects. Autumn said she usually joins the mascot on the basketball court to do a dance during the pep rally but she wasn’t expecting what happened next. “They turned me towards the words and here’s Cope walking to me with purple flowers, my favorite color,” Pollard said.

Robinson, a sophomore football player, said he and Autumn go to the same church and thanks to the help of his older sister and a few others, they were able to pull off the big surprise. He also said he hopes people see the video and feel inspired to be kind to others.“More people see that and be like that, instead of no, I’m not going to go with this kid, I’m not going to go with that kid,” said Robinson. It is wonderful to see how Cope respected Autumn and wanted to share this occasion with her.  They are wonderful examples to us all.

If You Find A Wallet – What Would You Do?

Here is a story that will make you think.  It will make you wonder.  It will make you doubt the good in people.  Stay with it.  Watch it to the end.  This video is put together by a guy who likes to test people.  This time Dennis intentially drops his wallet to find out what people do when it happens.  He makes sure to have his credit card and money in the wallet.  On the first few tries people stop him right away and tell him he dropped the wallet.  He walked a little further and drops the wallet again.  This time it is picked up by a passerby.  They follow him as he makes he way to the mall.  They continue to follow him after he makes a purchase and walks on.  Could he be using the money or the credit card he finds in the wallet?  Where is he walking to now?  Does this make you think that this guy could take what he found and use the money?  They continue to follwo him.  Now they are noticing that the area he is walking to is getting familiar.  It is his neighborhood.  The place where Dennis lives.  He walks up to his house.  Now is the time to confront him.  This is when he find out the truth. He did not use his money.  He brought the wallet back to him.  So surprised and pleased by what he did Dennis insists he take the money as a reward.  How wonderful that he walked to return the wallet.  I just knew he would.

Freedom for Anthony

Anthony Ray Hinton lived on death row for nearly 30 years.  He was innocent but no one believed him.  He had a team of attorneys (The Equal Justice Initiative) that worked every day to help him gain his freedom.  He waited believing that someone would figure it out that it was not him.  He kept his faith.  In this video we watch as he experiences new and old things like feeling the rain on his face for the first time in 30 years.  He learned how to use the ATM, learn about Instagram and Facebook.  He doesn’t blame people. He has a strong faith and is now ready to learn to live again.  He will now work on fixing up his home that he shared with his mother when he was arrested.  They had information that they bullets used in the crime did not match the gun that was owned by his mother.  Things like this happen but the story here is that this man has a wonderful soul and joy.  He will make a new life now out and free.  It is amazing how things like this happen but the good news is that he is free and determined to make himself a good life.  What a strong spirit this man has.  ”Bitterness kills the soul” he says.  May he have a good life and reconnect with his family.

A Boys First Friend

Do you remember your first friend? Two-year-old Deacon Ross has made his first friend, and it’s a pretty special relationship.  Deacon has a friend who he sees once each week.  He is the trash man.  ODee is the trash man in their neighborhood.  Deacon and his mom are preparing a party…a goodbye party for ODee.  You see, Deacon is moving away.  His family is growing and their house is not big enough anymore.  They are having a new baby brother soon (in fact, Deacon wants to name the baby ODee).  They are pretty sure that Deacon does not understand that he will not see ODee again.  They prepare a gift and tell ODee just how much he means to the little boy.  I think ODee is going to miss him as much as Deacon will miss ODee.  How special this man was to this little boy.  He truly loved waiting each week for him to come by on his truck.  Can you see just how spending a little time and giving someone a little attention can affect their lives.  Great job ODee.  You have made a lasting impression on a little boy.  One I am sure he won’t soon forget.

Memorial Day Tribute

On this day we need to stop offer a tribute and remember all of those who gave their lives for us to have our freedom.  This video is a little longer than most that we post but the message is so powerful.  Take the time to watch.  It will touch your heart.  So many of us just can’t even understand the pain that the families of these lost soldiers know.  What we can do is take time to thank a soldier when you see them while you still can.  Walking through the airport, the mall or just on the street.  Stop them.  Shake their hands and tell them just how much their service means to not only you but to this country.  I am so proud when I hear of people who give up their seat in first class for a soldier going home. Or even to just acknowledge them on a flight.  Remember they chose to do this service.  There is no longer a draft that took our young men without their choice to serve.  These people made the choice and we should thank them.  Enjoy your holiday but remember who it is really for…. Our Heroes.

How Important You Are- A Mom’s Story

Moms are very busy.  Sometimes they forget just how much they do for everyone. This mom is a businesswoman and a full time mom. In this video she learns just what she means to the family.  This was a commercial but yet a great story that every mom could put herself in.  Kraft Peanut Butter approached this family to use as an example for almost every family.  The kids made drawings and an author helped them write a book.  Kraft asked Deborah to be there for a book reading.  She was reading the book to an audience.  All of a sudden she turns a page and sees that the story is about her.  I dare you not to find yourself this in this story in one way or another.  Thank you Kraft for reminding us that we all have a place in the story and what we do in life tells the story we want to tell.  Be present in your story no matter how hard or how wonderful.  A new chapter is ready to be written and what you do today will form that chapter.  Take the time to enjoy the story and share that story with everyone.

Alumni makes a touchdown

WWII Veteran and Kansas football’s alumni Bryan Sperry who, at 89-years old, makes scoring a touchdown one of the greatest accomplishments we’ve seen. Brian Sperry proved he still has the moves when he returned to the University of Kansas, where he played college football in his teens, and scored a touchdown in an alumni scrimmage game. Just watch the joy on his face and the other teammates when he scores the winning touchdown.  He said he has not run like that for years.  It was a dream of his to return to the gridiron.  He actually played for KU after returning from war.  Many people just enjoyed watching him run down that field.  It just goes to show that you are never too old to live out your dreams.  What an inspiration.

He Helps the Homeless in an Amazing Way

This is an amazing story about a retired Minnesota teacher known as the ‘Sandwich Man’ who is dedicating every day of his life the helps the homeless.  Allen Law has dedicated his life to helping the homeless in Minneapolis.  He retired from work as a teacher to start his new career providing for people who need help.  He goes out each night driving a van taking what is needed to the people who need it the most.  Does he do it alone?  No but without his help it wouldn’t get done. 363 is the number on the side of his van.  ”That number represents the days that most people don’t think of the poor”says Allen.  ”I will be out there every night”.  There  is no stopping him.  He hands out sandwiches, bus tokens, socks and other necessities.  He uses what he has and what others share with him to make this happen. Like his brother who offered for him to use his apartment while he was away and Allen filled it with socks, blankets and storage of other donations. That is not to mention his own house and the 17 freezers that hold the sandwiches that the churches and civic organizations make for him. Over 700,00 sandwiches which he drops off at homeless shelters.  He is a special kind of man.  Thank you Allen for your dedication.  You are amazing.

A Puppy’s Best Friend

Here is a great video for all you pet lovers.  You don’t even have to like dogs to like this video.  Many people will tell you that sometimes the main reason a pet is taken to the pound is because of the arrival of a baby in the house.  This video will show you how babies and puppies can grow up together. It is so sweet watching the baby and the dog interact.   How sweet to watch the little one playing with the puppy and to watch the puppy playing with the baby but yet being so careful. As you watch you see the baby grow and the puppy too.  This video reminds us that there is room in the family for a dog and a baby.  Watch this video as the baby grows up and the puppy is always there to take care of the baby. Love animal videos and I love baby videos.  What could be better puppies and babies.

Restaurant Worker Helping Anyway He Can

Ridge Quarles, who works at a Qdoba in Louisville, Kentucky, had gotten to know a customer with disabilities who visits the restaurant whenever she can.  She would come to the restaurant being dropped 0ff  by the bus.  Sometimes she would have to wait outside the restaurant until another customer would come in and let her in.  Ridge notices when she comes in even knowing what she likes to eat and preparing it before she even makes her order.  Most workers would fill the order and that is all.  Not Ridge.  He makes sure she gets her food to her seat and helping her get all set up for her meal.  On this day another customer notices that Ridge not only helped her to her seat, he even took the time to help her eat by feeding her the meal.  What an amazing employee this company has.  What an amazing young man he is.  Caring enough to take his time and to help this person he hardly knows.  How inspiring.  If only more people would care for others in this way.   We salute you young man.  You are our hero.  Thank you for being who you are.  We can all take a lesson from you.
