Where did “A Little Good News” came from?  It has been in the back of my mind for a number of years.  Back in 1983, Anne Murray had a hit song, titled “A Little Good News”.  It became one of my favorite songs.  I am a HUGE fan of positive, uplifting stories!  When Pay It Forward came out in theaters, it became one of my favorite movies, as well (although I would have loved a better ending).  I also liked the concept of Extreme Makeover Home Edition and other “feel good” type shows.

In the last number of years, however, I’ve felt that there is an ever-increasing need for more good news to be shared.  It has gotten to the point where I hate to watch the TV news or read the newspaper because of all of the bad news that gets reported. It frustrates me that, in a world where so much good is still happening, the bad news is what gets a disproportionate amount of the media attention.  At times, it seems as though the media doesn’t want us to believe that there is much good going on anymore.  No wonder depression is at an all-time high.  People are losing hope!!

Well…I’ve had it with all of the negativity and I decided to do something about it.  I wanted to become part of the solution and restore HOPE!!  And, that is why I decided to start “A Little Good News”.  In doing so, I know that some will say, “Loren, this isn’t even going to make a dent in the huge number of people who get all of the bad news that gets reported out there”.  My response to them will be the same as the one that the old man gave as he walked along the shore, picking up starfish and throwing them back into the ocean.  A person mocked him and said that there was no way he could save even a tiny fraction of all that get washed up on the shore each and every day.  The old man simply picked up one more starfish, threw it back into the ocean and said, “It sure made a difference to that one!!”.

That is how I feel.  If only one or two people choose to take advantage of “A Little Good News”, I hope that they will LOVE what they see and that it will help make a positive impact on their lives…..and then, I hope that they will go out and make a positive impact on someone else’s life.  Together, we can change the world for the better, ONE LITTLE PIECE OF GOOD NEWS at a time!!!

So, welcome to “A Little Good News”.  I will keep each daily message very brief because I know that everyone has busy lives.  But, PLEASE spread the word and get others to join in, as well!!

Now…Go have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Loren Dalton (the “Good News” Guy)

P.S. –  As I was preparing to launch this site with daily “good news” messages, I told one of my older brothers about it.  He pointed out that my grandfather, Harry Lorenzo Payne, who died a few years before I was born (and who I was named after by giving me the name “Loren” from his “Lorenzo”) used to have a radio show with nothing but good news and uplifting stories in it.  My grandfather was a gentle man who was loved by many in his town of Mesa, Arizona, where he hosted his local radio show.  So, in a sense, by starting “A Little Good News”, I’m carrying on his legacy.
