The Deer and the Dog

Who doesn’t need  just a good pet video.  Here is the one for you.  This video is about a deer that just adopted a family and their pets.  This deer comes over to stay and play with the dog and even the cat.  They look like they are best friends.  Even other deer vcome by to visit.  I would love to live here where the animals play so freely with eachother.  How fun watching the dog and the deer play like they are both dogs.  I have never seen a “wild” animal seem so tame.  It is just a feel good video to remind us just how precious these animals are.  Oh to be a dog.  Or a deer at this house.

Dog Train

If you are in Fort Worth, Texas, you might get a glimpse of an unusual train puttering down a road. You might have to do a double take, as you realize it’s a train filled with dogs! Eighty-year-old Eugene Bostick and his “dog train” are well known to locals. He’s been driving the tractor with eight barrels in tow for several years. It turns out the retiree built the train for the stray dogs he’s rescued with his brother over the years, after people have dumped the dogs near their property.“I started out with my tractor. I had a little trailer and I put four or five dogs in there and took them riding. Then more dogs started to show up and I said, ‘Uh-oh! That’s not enough room!’ That’s when I came up with that,” Bostick told NBCDFW explaining how the dog train came into being.Recently, Tiffany Johnson, who has seen him regularly go by her office, wanted to take a picture. “This is the coolest guy he rescues stray dogs and every morning he takes them for a train ride by our building, I finally got the courage up to ask if I could take his pic! Love this and had to share!” she wrote on Facebook after sharing the photo.

Tiffany told one commenter that the dogs don’t ever jump out. It seems they know exactly what to do and bark enthusiastically on their ride! When Tiffany was asked where Bostick finds the strays, she said, “he just rescues them from going to the pound!! He said people actually drop their dogs they no longer can take care of, off to him”. What a wonderful, kind man! The pups sure look like they love it!  Share this sweet story with your family and friends!

Amazing Found Dog Story

This dog and her owner were in a bad traffic accident in the desert back in June.  Volunteers have been looking for the dog for the last 65 days.  They had an idea that the dog was in a certain area so they set a trap to bring her home.  Rose Sherman thought she would never see her sweet Ily ever again.  During the accident Ily ran off scared after the crash.  A group of volunteers watched the cage and listened on a baby monitor for the dog to wander in.  Finally she came by and they were able to trap the dog so that they could bring her home to her family.  Ily had avoided all human contact until she was reunited with Rose.  What a wonderful reunion it was.  Rose thought she might never see her faithful dog again.  Rose is still recuperating from her injuries she sustained in the accident.  Ily had missed a few meals but for being in the desert for 65 days she looks extremely well and is very glad to be back home with Rose.  What an amazing reunion.

A Special Crossing Guard

Brad Curtis is a local crossing guard in Jersey shore.  He is a retired contractor.  He loves to help the children. He says it keeps him young.  But that is not who gets all the attention at this cross street.  It is his helper, Patches , the crossing guard dog. They love how cute the dog is with the stop sign jacket that he wears.  He is very well trained.  When Brad brought along little Patches they all said that the dog needed a uniform also.  The kids just love the dog and the neighborhood think that he is just the perfect addition to the neighborhood.  Anything that will help the children follow the rules helps.  They all love watching the dog and he loves the children.  Thank you Mr. Curtis for bringing Patches to help you.  Of course, Patches will only be on duty until the weather changes.  When it gets cold, Patches has to stay home.

Rescuing a Pup From the Riverbed

Pet stories are sometimes so cute.  This one has a happy ending.  It  was reported that they saw a dog that was in Long Beach, CA living in the riverbed.  No one would help the lady reporting the dog so this team (Hope for Paws/ Coastal German Shepherd Rescue) stepped in.  They located the dog and working very carefully they were able to approach the dog and put the snares on her (only to protect her).  They brought her food so that she would know that they are there to help her. They made friends with the food and then put a leash on her and was actually able to walk with the handler out of the riverbed and off to a new life.  They took her to the shelter for a bath and warm bed. This German Shepherd is now happy and healthy and looking for a family to adopt her.  There are many pets out there at the shelters that are looking for furever families.  Check out a shelter in your area and take home a new member for your family.

This Visitor is Welcomed

The good news of the is story is not that he is losing his certification. The good news is what good he did before this story.  You have to see the joy that this dog brought to the hospitals he visited.  Chopper the biker dog was a welcome visitor to the senior housing.  This dog has visited thousands. He is the cutest thing coming up to visit riding his motorcycle.  He has been doing this for 5 years.  They love to hold him and pet him.  What a special dog to show his love to these seniors.  Let’s not focus on the reason he wears the costume but more that the joy he brings to the people he spends time with.  Even though he may not be allowed some places he still is allowed others. Recently Chopper went to a rally of Paralyzed Veterans of America where he met with other service dogs bringing smiles to our Veterans.  This is one amazing dog and a great handler too.  Thanks for sharing Chopper with those in need.

Spoiled Baby Deer

Here is a cute little video narrated by the guys that experienced it. Here is what he had to say about this experience,  ”My buddy and I were clearing a right of way for the electric lines and came across this fawn trapped in the fall path of the tree we were about to trim. He was tangled in some thorns and was pretty shaken up after we cut him loose, so we started rubbing his belly to calm him down…. which worked a little too well, as you can see. He followed us around the job site like a lost puppy for about an hour until I noticed a doe watching us from the hillside. Assuming this was his mother, I carried him about halfway up the hill while she watched attentively. I sat him down, he ran straight to her, and they walked off together.”  What a  beautiful experience to be there for the fawn and for the mother deer too.  Enjoy this little video and be there for nature around you.

Animals Saving Animals

Here is just a short but wonderful animal video to end your week.  We have seen some great rescues with people jumping in to save people from scary situations.  This video is one of animals stepping in to saving other animals.  Watch as these animals reach out to other animals.  It is amazing that they take no regard to what type of animals is in need.  You see elephants helping elephants but you also seea hippo helping a zebra and bear helping a bird.  Our world is a huge place and we can still learn lessons from nature around us as we just keep alert and take care of each other.  This is a wonderful display of nature caring for nature.  Let’s all take a lesson from our animal friends and watch out for each other.  Have a great weekend.  Keep an eye out for someone in need.

Babies and Dogs- What could be cuter?

What is better than babies laughing…  Babies and dogs. I selected this video today that really doesn’t have a story attached to it.  It is not news.  It is just cute.  Everyone needs something just cute once in a while. There are too many aweful things on the news and in our daily lives.  Why not just take just under 4 minutes and watch the cuteness of babies laughing at puppies.  It would keep us all younger if we could just laugh like these little ones.  Laughing is so good for you.  So, just take some time and laugh.  Laugh when you can.  It will keep you young.  Share it with those you love.

Loyal Dog Saves Blind Owner

A golden retriever service dog named Figo saved a life when he leaped in front of a small school bus in an effort to protect his blind owner.”I’ve seen dogs protect their owners when an intruder is coming at them, but not from an automobile,” Brewster Village’s chief of police John Del Gardo told ABC News. “I’ve never seen that before.”Audrey Stone, the woman that Figo guides, was walking through an intersection on North Main Street on Monday morning when a bus struck the pair in the center of the walkway, police said.”Right before it happened the dog did something really heroic,” Del Gardo said. “He sort of lunged at the bus. It injured his leg and paw, and the woman received multiple injuries. When EMS came, he [Figo] didn’t want to leave her side.”Brewster Fire Department’s second assistant chief Moe DeSantis, who was at the scene of the crash, said the bus was carrying two school children, and no one on the vehicle, including the driver, was injured. The driver, Chief Del Gardo said, was issued a summons for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.Del Gardo added that Stone is currently being treated in the hospital with numerous fractures, three broken ribs, and a laceration to the head.Figo, who received an operation at Middlebranch Veterinary in Carmel, New York, is now doing well in his recovery process, according to his vet Dr. LouAnn Pfeifer.Pfeifer, who has been caring for eight-year-old Figo, said she is not surprised that he sacrificed himself for Stone.”This is what they’re trained for,” she said. “He’s a good boy. He’s been a patient of ours since he was in service of Miss. Stone and he is just a wonderful dog.”Pfeifer added that her facility will be holding onto to Figo upon Stone’s release from the hospital.
