Team Helps Save Boy

Here is a story that just reminds us that there are some wonderful kids out there in the world today. A middle school student was by himself over by  Fenton High School football field.  He was approached by a middle aged man the boy ran away towards the football field.  When the football team saw what was happening they got between the man and the young boy.  The man was gesturing to the boy to come to him.  The boy told the team, “Do let him take me”.  They not only got him away from the man but even took a picture of his license plate and a description of his vehicle.  The team came together as a team to help rescue the boy.  They feel like they learned what to do by seeing this scenerio from movies and tv.  The police said they could not arrest the man since he did not actually do anything wrong but they will keep an eye on him and thankfully that little boy is safe because of this team and how they jumped to his rescue.  Way to go boys.  Watching your surroundings always is the best.  Great job.

Son Saves Dad After Two Days in Wilderness

A father and son took an adventure and everything went bad in an instant.  A boulder fell and hit his dad.  Charlie took care of his Dad for two day before he went for help. After his father was badly injured by a falling boulder in the Idaho backcountry, the teenager did everything in his power to make sure they both made it out alive. Charlie Wilstead Finlayson just started 8th grade at Eagle Middle School. The 13-year-old is a Boy Scout and loves the wilderness. Last week, his survival skills were put to the test after a scary situation in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. The teen was on a backpacking trip with his father, David Finlayson. As they were climbing a boulder fell and hit David. The 52-year-old’s left arm and leg were broken and he had a large gash on his shin. “At first I was freaking out a little bit, but after a few minutes I kind of calmed down and thought I have to help him out and get his sleeping bag and stuff,” said Charlie. “Charlie grabbed the first-aid kit the two had brought and helped bandage the open wound. He then ran a mile back to camp and grabbed sleeping bags and warm clothes. The next day, Charlie helped keep his dad fed and hydrated. The two decided that Charlie would have to hike 13 miles the next day, by himself, to get help.”I was saying a lot of prayers before I left,” said Charlie. It was an emotional goodbye. David wrote a note and handed it to his son so he could explain to anyone he encountered what had happened and where his dad was.As luck would have it, Charlie ran into two members of his own LDS church just three miles down the trail. They headed up to stay with his dad. Charlie kept hiking and eventually, he found another man who ended up running the next eight miles to call for help. Charlie hiked the rest of the way out. The sheriff called a helicopter to lift him to safety. What a brave young man.  We are all so proud of you Charlie.

4 Year Old Saves His Dad In The Woods

Grant and Quillan Groenwald went out in the woods to cut down a few trees.  Grant usually went there alone but on this day he decided to bring his young four-year old son.  As Grant began to cut the tree it came down different from what he planned and he scrambled to get out of the way.  He could not move and called for Quillan to help.  He first did not think he could do anything but soon came to his dad’s rescue when he was pinned under a tree branch. He dragged the chainsaw to him so he could cut his way out.  Grant had to not only to cut himself out of this fallen tree but he had to do it under many branches.  He was able to (with the help of little Quillan) get out from other the tree and make his way to the truck.  It could have been a lot worse. When they arrived at home the little guy ran in to get help from his mom.  Grant says he will never go chop again alone.  He thanks his little son for saving his life.  Way to go Quillan. You are an amazing young man.

10 year old saves kids from fire

When a mobile home caught fire, 10 year old Isaiah Francis didn’t think about himself.  He only thought about the other children that were in harm’s way in the trailer. The children’s dad was trying to put water on the fire and the emergency responders had not arrived yet.  He was able to pull out a 1 and 2 year old.  Minutes later the Orange County Florida fire fighters were on the scene.  They went in while the mobile home was 75% engulfed at that time.  They were able to save two more children. What a brave young man!  It takes more than courage to rush into a fire like that, it takes some help from a few guardian angels.  How amazing that he was there at the right time and place. He is such an amazing young man.  You are our hero Isaiah. Do not put yourself in harm’s way but do answer when called upon.  Amazing people do amazing things.  Even young ones.

Boy’s reaction to bullying

This is a story about some fifth graders and their friend.  You might think that boys that age would be tough on someone their age that might be alittle different from them.  Not these 5 boys.  They took it upon themselves to be the best friend to this boy.  James was adopted when he was just a baby and soon lost his new father in an accident.  He has had a tough life but these boys are now making his life better. They spend time with him.  They play with him and protect him from others who might tease him or try to hurt him.  They include him in activities and they even all banned together to get him a playstation and games. They are best friends and the boys are doing what they can to take care of their friend.  What a great lesson we can all learn from these young men.  They get as much joy out of doing things for James and James does receiving their love and attention.  This school had a program about bullying.  These boys are the best program to teach others about how not to bully.  Great job boys.  You boys can inspire all of us to be better friends and better people.

A Brave Little Boy Grows Up

This is a video report update on a story from 2006.  This tells the story of a brave little boy who had to experience the unthinkable.  It starts with the 911 call from back in 2006 when the little boy makes the call after his father had killed his mom and stabbed him leaving him for dead.  Anthony Sukto was an amazing little boy.  He told Oprah that the angels helped him call 911 to get help.  When they found him a paramedic and policeman helped the little boy get to the hospital.  They have a special bond. Today Anthony is 18 and went back to Washington to meet up with the two men who saved his life.  Anthony’s father got 25 years for first degree murder.  He tells Oprah via Skype that he forgives and loves his father and will tell him when he is up for parole. He spends time with the two men who saved his life.  It is amazing how this boy has turned out considering all he has been through.  We are so proud of you, Anthony.  May you have a full and happy life.  Thank you also to Officer Jeff Colquhoun and fireman Mark Eakes.  You two are great men to take care of this little boy and help him become the man he is today.

A brave little boy grows up

911 call by 6 year old

When 6-year-old Madison found her mother Jovanna Nunez unconscious in their Hemet, California, home on Saturday, she told 911: “My mom froze and … I don’t know what happened.”  Madison not knowing how to help her mom she called 911.  She tells 911 that she was drawing her mom a picture when she just froze.  She also told the dispatcher that there were no other adults at home.  The displatcher comforts the little girl and tells her that help is on the way. She asks her to go open the door and wait for the paramedics.  This is an audio recording of part of the conversation.  It stops before Madison tells the dispatcher she’s sitting outside the house on a rocking chair and even describes the pajamas she is wearing. The dispatcher promises that crews are on their way and tells Madison she’s doing a good job. As sirens are heard getting closer, Madison’s tone seems to turn from nervous to relieved. She excitedly reports that crews are here as the dispatcher tells her to stay calm, keep the phone with her and take the responders in the house. Nunez said when she woke up, there were EMTs surrounding her bed.”The little girl maintained her composure” the whole time, the fire department said in a statement. This mother did a great job preparing her daughter for this by teaching her to call 911.  Use this reminder to teach your little ones how to call 911 in an emergency.

Boy helps firefighters find him

A 13-year-old Maryland boy impeccably directed firefighters through his burning home to the room where he and sister were Sunday morning, ultimately saving their lives.Throughout the 11-minute call, Marcus can be heard leading firefighters to his location and bravely calming his little sister down. Marcus, 13, immediately called authorities when he saw smoke inside his home.He told the 911 dispatcher he was at home with his big brother, mother, step-father and 9-year-old little sister. At one point, the sister says “We’re going to die!” and Marcus responds “Stop! Please don’t say that!” The 13-year-old  boy remained calm, taking direction from the dispatcher all while checking on his family during a fire at his family home. The teen then flawlessly explained how firefighters could find him. The 911 dispatcher worked with the boy to keep his sister calm as firefighters worked hard to get to the family.  When firefighters arrived, they broke the wrong window to rescue the children, but Marcus quickly corrected the situation. One firefighter, 25-year-old Lt. Kevin Ward, got to the scene and immediately went upstairs to rescue Marcus when he felt his little sister tugging at his leg. Lt. Ward immediately took his air mask off and put it on the 9-year-old, ABC News said. The two siblings were treated for smoke inhalation at a nearby children’s hospital. Their mother, step-dad and brother were also taken to a nearby hospital but weren’t seriously injured. What amazing young man to save his family.  Way to go Marcus.

Live Original – A girl wise beyond her years.

Live Original . This young woman is known firstly for her famous family.  Now most recently she gained additional fame for her performance on Dancing with the Stars.  Now she stays in the public by speaking her mind about her faith and how she feels about herself.  This video is a lot longer than most the of the videos we share but I thought the message warrented it .  Sadie Robertson is a member of the famous Duck Dynasty family.  Her and her family are also known for being very open about their faith.  Being a young woman Sadie is looked up to by the young people of the world. I liked this video and wanted to share it with everyone for the message she is stating.  Live Original. Don’t compare yourself to others.  Be yourself.  Don’t envy others for how they look or what they have or who they are.  Sadie says that (although she has a lot) she does not compare hereself to others.  She focuses on God and how he sees her.  What a well balanced young woman. I think our children need more role models like Sadie.  What do you think?  Thank you Sadie to being such a powerful image for the young woman of today.  Don’t forget to Live Original.

Friend helping friend – only 7 years old

Colin Cox and Ryan Branson are old friends.  Well, they have really only known each other for two years.   Colin spent some time as little boy with a dibilitating disease.  His mom thinks it made him more compassionate.  Colin came home from school and told his mom that his friend’s house burned down. He asked his mom to make a video to help Ryan’s family.  He had lost everything and he needed help.  So Colin made a video asking for help.  Thanks to his help they have already raised over $9000 to help Ryan’s family.  How beautiful to hear these little 7 year olds talk about what Colin did, “Because that is what friends do, they help each other.”  These two are like little “old souls”.  As they say to each other at the end of the video, “Your the best friend ever. What would I do without you”.  How awesome that these two boys can show us all the true meaning of friendship and how to help each other in hard times.  Colin, you are amazing and what a great friend you truly are. You are true example to all of us.
