A Baby’s Laughter

It is time again for just a feel good video. No sad story , no serious subject.  Just pure joy.  Today’s video is a bunch of babies enjoying dogs.  Dogs are part of our families.  The supply companionship, friendship and unconditional love.  They do this even when a new little one comes into the scene.  Babies are so fun to watch but this just shows us how babies love their dog friends.  I love the laughter from these little ones.  It makes you forget any trouble you might have in your life for a few short minutes.  Sit back and just enjoy the laughter.  The joy that a dog brings to a child and the joy of laughter that touches our lives.  I don’t know about you but I just can’t get enough of babies and dogs.  Grab your drink and enjoy this short delightful video.

An Unexpectant Visit for a Father

Going through a difficult time like a serious illness is hard enough when you are surrounded by your families but even harder when your family is far away.  This is one of those videos that really touch your heart.  This father is having a serious life threatening cancer surgery in only a few days.  He thinks his son is in the Philippines speaking to him on the phone.  But Surprise!  Here he comes his son … Standing behind him in the same room.Family is what we need to get us through these types of difficult situations.  This story is from last year and the update is that the Dad overcame the surgery, went cancer free for a year, now is fighting again with success. Best wishes to this family and use the strength of your family to get through it all.

Officers give out Car Seats Instead of Tickets

Texas police officers pulled over a man who had three young daughters in the back seat, none of which were in car seats. Instead of issuing tickets for the violations, the officers pooled their money and bought the dad three car seats.  Cedar Park patrol officers Gower and Hawkins start their day expecting to be giving out tickets and to be there to protect and serve.   This past Saturday they went above and beyond the call of duty.  They noticed a car that had expired plates and broken tail light.  When one of the officers went over to talk to the driver they noticed the three girls sitting in the back seat without car seats.  They remembered hearing stories about this family and how they were now living out of their car.  The men knew that giving tickets for the missing car seats would not do anything to help the situation so while one officer talked to the dad the other went off to Walmart.  The officiers used thier own money to purchase the car seats.  What a great example of true compassion these men are.  I love the last line of the video.  ”Proving the power of the badge is made stronger by the hearts that wear them”.

A Special Cart for a Special Child

Grocery store trips weren’t easy for 2-year-old Beatrice and her mother Melody. Beatrice’s cerebral palsy prevents her from being able to fit in a standard cart so mom would have to get creative. That was until her grocery store changed everything.  This is an amazing story how a store went out of their way to fill a need and help this family and many others.  Manager Mike saw a need and filled it.  A small jesture that can make life so much better for many families with the same issues.  Now this little girl and her mom can enjoy shopping like other little children.  We are so pleased to share this story today.  This is a store that really cares about the people who shop there.  Since reading this story I have actually seen this cart at our local grocery store in honor of another local little girl.  Does your store have one? If not, stop by the customer counter and ask why. Lets see if we can get a cart in every store.  Wouldn’t that be wonderful?  A simple way to help someone out that could use it.

Special Halloween Costumes for Special Kids

Here are some great examples of how you can do a small thing to help a child feel “normal” like other kids.  This is a video about Magic Wheelchair that was started by Oregon-based dad Ryan Weimer early this year.  He always loved making his kids costumes.  But three of his kids have Spinal Muscular Atrophy and use wheelchairs, which made it an added challenge.  This year 8 kids will receive their dream Halloween costume.  It makes the kids seem like superstars to their friends and others instead of outcasts.  They wow everyone who sees their amazing costumes.  For special kids to get a chance to be selected to have their own dream costume they have to submit a video telling of the idea to MagicWheelchair.org.  Weimers says, “It’s not a cure.. it’s a cure for a day”.  ”It helps them forget. It helps other people see them as a kid and not just a kid in a wheelchair.”  What an awesome person to do this for these little ones.  Just think how you could help others this way.  Maybe not as exciting or elaborate as these but in a small way to make someone feel accepted as one of the crowd.  Thanks to this great organization.  We wish them much joy in giving.

Her Dads Walked her Down the Aisle

For most of her life, Brittany Peck has had two men vying for her love and attention: her father and stepfather.  As happens in many families Brittany’s mom and dad separated and divorsed while she was just a little girl.  Her mother remarried and Brittany came to live with her mom.  Her dad was a truck driver and on the road a lot.  He learned to love her step dad.  As she grew older the two men never liked each other and you could even say barely tolerated each other.  Now Brittany is getting married and she feels torn on her special day.  As her dad was walking her down the aisle he stopped to give her the best wedding present she could ever receive.  He went back to her step dad to get him and said he need to be there to walk “their ” daughter down the aisle.  Her step dad could not believe it.  It touched him so much to be a part of this special day.  They both walked her down the aisle and as they left her you could see the two “DADS” walking arm in arm away.  They both agreed that each played a special part in her life.  Way to go Dads. You two made the right choice and showed everyone how to handle this situation.

Teen finds wallet and returns it.

Here is a short video with a great story.  A young man found a wallet that contained $2300.  His family was struggling with expenses but he never considered keeping the money. He turned it in right away to his school officials.  The wallet was claimed by a veteran who had lost his wallet.  The boys family was so proud of him for being doing the right thing.  When his mother sent him a text telling her how proud she was of him his reply was “You should be thanking yourself, you raised me”.  See when (as a parent) you are never really sure if they hear you and understand your lessons then you see something like this and realize, they are getting it.  Great job Mom and Dad for teaching this young man right from wrong and how to do the right thing.  AND thank you Tommy for thinking of others and doing the right thing.  Also, thanks to the vet who did reward Tommy.  BTW – I am sorry, but this video does not stop at the end of this story but continues on with a weather report from a local station. We could not edit this so just accept my apologies for this at the end of this great story.

She Couldn’t Wait a Moment Longer

You can’t always wait.  This little girl was there with her family and many other families as they waited for their soldiers to return home.  As they came into the room she waited until she couldn’t wait any longer.  She ran to her daddy before he was dismissed.  Nothing could stop her and nothing could keep him from greeting this little girl. She returned back to her mom and waiting with everyone else until her dad was officially dismissed to run to her.  How sweet. We just don’t realize how much the families of our military suffer and give up for our freedom.  First Lt Daniel Oglsby was deployed to Kawait eight months ago. Not only that but Thursday was little Kara’s birthday.  What could be a better gift than having your daddy come home?  Christine, his wife, said that last time he came from home from deployment was the first time he met his little girl Kara when she was 2 months old.  This mom spent many nights reading to her little girls about deployment in a child’s book called “Lily Hates Goodbyes” where the little girl runs to her dad when he returns.  She clearly took a lesson from this book.  Welcome Home Lt. Oglesby and enjoy your time with your daughters. Thank you for your service.

Woman wakes from coma to baby’s cry

A mother Shelly Cawley who slipped into coma after the birth of her child had miraculously woken up after the she heard her baby’s cries. The family of the woman thought they were going to say their last goodbye to the woman as they were escorted through the hallways of North Carolina Hospital. Her blood pressure was dangerously low (60/40, doctors later told the family) and her heart rate was soaring (more than 180 beats per minute). Cawley was hooked up to what doctors called “the last-chance ventilator,” a machine pumping air into her lungs with such force that it rattled her hospital bed with each artificial breath, her husband, Jeremy Cawley, said. They were willing to try anything to give this mom a reason to live.  So they stripped the baby down and put her skin to skin on her mother’s chest.  They wanted her to feel, smell and hear the baby giving her a reason to fight. And they thought Rylan Grace Cawley — just hours old — might be the only one who could help. They had to tickle and pinch the baby a bit to get her to cry so her mother could hear her. When the baby did, her mother’s vitals jumped . e said he was told it may have given her the strength she needed to push through. A week later, Shelly Cawley woke up and met her baby daughter. Even though in a coma the mother still knew her little girl was there and that she needed her.  What a heart warming story.

Team Helps Save Boy

Here is a story that just reminds us that there are some wonderful kids out there in the world today. A middle school student was by himself over by  Fenton High School football field.  He was approached by a middle aged man the boy ran away towards the football field.  When the football team saw what was happening they got between the man and the young boy.  The man was gesturing to the boy to come to him.  The boy told the team, “Do let him take me”.  They not only got him away from the man but even took a picture of his license plate and a description of his vehicle.  The team came together as a team to help rescue the boy.  They feel like they learned what to do by seeing this scenerio from movies and tv.  The police said they could not arrest the man since he did not actually do anything wrong but they will keep an eye on him and thankfully that little boy is safe because of this team and how they jumped to his rescue.  Way to go boys.  Watching your surroundings always is the best.  Great job.
