Their paths crossed even before they met

Do you ever think about the people you pass on the street? ” Have I seen her before?”  ”Do I know him?”  Would you be surprised if you spent time with someone when you were a child that you became close with as an adult.  That is what this story is about.  Ryan Spencer was watching one of his wife Jourdan’s childhood home videos when he saw someone very unexpected … himself!  The video was taken on a 1988 trip to the amusement park Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, 16 years before the couple met on their first blind date.  It shows 10-year-old Jourdan returning from a waterslide. That’s when 13-year-old, bespectacled Ryan walks through the shot.

This report on “Fox and Friends Weekend,” Jourdan said they were in complete shock when they first saw the video. They had to keep stopping and rewinding to be sure. ”When I first saw the movie, when I was watching it with Jourdan, I was kind of joking around at first, like, ‘Wow, that looks like me,’” Ryan explained. “And then I said, ‘That is me!”

You never know who you meet as you pass through life.  Take the time to notice who is around you.  Who knows that person passing by may make a huge change to your life.

Iron Man shares a bionic arm

What a wonderful thing actor Robert Downey Jr. did for this little boy.  Alex a seven year old loves superheroes and riding his bike. He was born with a partially developed right arm.  Albert Manero is a college student who builds and donates low-cost, 3D printed bionic limbs to kids around the world.  Albert has a project he is working on called the Collective Project with Limbitless Solutions where he supplies these limb to needy kids.  Robert Downey Jr agreed to help with this project.  Robert tried to stay in character but as you watch you can see he did enjoy spending time with Alex and Albert.  What a wonderful gift he gave to this little boy to have one of his heroes come to help him with his arm.  Thank you so much to Albert Manero for creating these Prosthetic Arms and helping those little ones to feel better than normal.   How amazing what these college students can do to help these kids born without limbs.  How amazing is it that with support of volunteers and celebrities they can create these amazing prosthetics and help these children.

From Speech to Speechless

This is the moving story of Abby Snider’s surprise birthday party. The Virginia 16 year old has leukemia. Her family couldn’t afford a fancy birthday party for Abby. You see, she had missed her 15th birthday due to being diagnosed with luekemia.  So a plan was hatched by Tom Mitchell of The Stillbrave Childhood Cancer Foundation, Abby’s family, friends and the Winchester, Virginia business community to make sure Abby had a very memorable sweet 16. They back story told to Abby was that she was to give a speech at fancy fundraising gala to benefit tom Mitchell’s The Stillbrave Childhood Cancer Foundation.  She started off by getting a full makeover from head to toe.  She wrote a beautiful speech which she never was able to give.  This night is all about her.  She gets into the Limo after leaving the salon to head over to the hotel.  It tooka few seconds for her to realize the gala was for her.   Students raised $400,000 to help those dealing with blood cancer.  What a wonderful day for Abby.  A day she will never forget.

Five year old Cammy suffers from Rhett’s syndrome which prevents her from being able to walk or speak. She can only communicate through her computer and is wheel chair bound.  But that won’t stop her. This little one is a huge hockey fan  espeically the Chicago Blackhawks and her favorite player Duncan Keith.  Duncan with the help of the Blackhawks helped her with her dream.  Duncan spent time visiting with her before taking her on the ice to achieve her goal. Cammy entered the “What’s your Goal” social media campaign and was selected.  Her goal was to go on the ice and score a goal.  He made her dream come true.  Putting on her jersey he straps her to him  and helps her skate across the ice and make a goal. Did You Read To A Child Yesterday?

Yesterday,  March 2 all over the states people were reading.  Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!  Every year at the beginning of March many schools and libraries take this time to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss by encouraging reading. In this community alone over 75 different  community leaders spent time reading to children.  As you see in this report 45 millions readers will pick up a book to celebrate during Read Across America.  Check out what your community is doing to celebrate this author during Read Across America and what he has done for literacy.  Who has not read Cat in The Hat or Green Eggs and Ham.  So many great stories that children love and parent love to read to their kids.  Help celebrate by picking up a book and sharing it with a child.  What a simple gift you have to give.  It doesn’t take much time but the time you spend is so important in the life of a child.    I think my favorite Dr. Seuss book is Cat in the Hat. What is your favorite Dr. Seuss book?

Youth Program dazzles Rocker

Here is a youth program in Louisville, Kentucky called the Louisville Leopard Percussionists.  The Louisville Leopard Percussionists began in 1993. They are a performing ensemble of approximately 55 student musicians, ages 7-12, living in and around Louisville, Kentucky. Each student learns and acquires proficiency on several instruments, such as marimbas, xylophone, vibraphone, drum set, timbales, congas, bongos and piano.  This performance of Led Zeppelin medley of “Immigrant Song”, “The Ocean” and “Kashmir” in fluid sequence.  Jimmy Page (of Led Zepplin) himself was blown away and placed a post on Facebook, “Too good not to share”.  What a wonderful program for these young people. Their talent is amazing.  I love watching talented young people who are given the opportunity to grow and learn.   This is the type of program that helps keep young people on the straight and narrow.  I am so amazed at their talent.  Isn’t it wonderful that a community would offer this type of program for their young people.  Way to Go Louisville. Share this great talent with all your friends.

Disney Surprises Shoppers

What an adorable thing to happen at the mall.  What if you were walking through the mall and saw a shadow that seemed to follow your every move.  This is a delightful video created by Disney.  We all know the characters and these folks get caught up in the moment never giving much thought to how it was happening until the doors open and out comes “you know who”.  You have to watch this and see the pure joy in the eyes of those who stumbled across this “show”.  You wonder how many jsut passed by and didn’t notice what was going on.  Even the most serious businessman takes a moment to notice that “he was getting shadowed by Goofy”.  Even when Mickey out dances a pretty good break dancer… it is pure joy.  Thanks to Disney for always bringing joy wherever they go.

A different way to look at dolls

This story today is about dolls.  No just about what you can do with dolls but also about the way that they make us see ourselves.  She takes the ones that others have disgarded and “makes under”  these fashion dolls be plain and simple .  People have just been taken with their  beauty of the simplicity .  She is hoping that the doll makers will take a suggestion that these dolls are the kinds that the children will really like to play with.  Even the kids say that they look more like them and that they like them more than the “over make-up” faces on the dolls before they were changed.  Her mother helps create new clothes.  Once shared on Facebooks the story was shared over 100,00 times.  The little girls love to imagine what these dolls would do if they were little girls.  The people think they look so much happier now.  She doesn’t want to manufacture them – she just hopes that she will influence the toy manufacturers to make the kind of dolls that little girls really want to play with.  What do you think?  What can we learn from this story?

Son lives after Mom’s Prayer

I believe prayer works.  And after this story you will believe it too.  This is a story about an 8th grader named John Smith. It seems that John and two friends decided to try to walk on thin ice.  John fell through the ice and was there for over 15 minutes before being rescued by the local fire department.  The rescue team had just practiced ice rescue the week before.  Now here they were to pull John out.  They tried to revive him but nothing was working.  They tried CPR for 27 minutes with no results.  The doctor brought John’s mother into the room to tell her what was happening.  His mom immediately began praying for God to step in now and to save her son.  Almost immediately the doctor team began to get a pulse. Something that a few minutes ago was a tragedy now had hope.  The doctors were amazed but still unsure if  his mind would still be there.  Unbelievably he is not only surviving but he is thriving.  He is getting stronger everyday and if you ask anyone it is a miracle brought on by his mother’s prayer.  Do you believe in prayer?  This story will help you to see that prayer does work.

A First Grader Knows How to be a Friend

Vincent and Zach are good friends. Recently Zach was not feeling well only to discover that he had  cancer. Zach is a strong boy and fought his cancer.  He had many treatments but rarely missed school and his friend Vincent.  Vincent was there to help Zach’s spirit.  Vincent learned about cancer and what it was doing to his friend.  He learned that treatment for Zach’s cancer was expensive so he and his mom made scarves and sold them to give the money to Zach.  One day Vincent came to school with a stocking hat on and told his teacher that he had a surprise for Zach.  He removed his cap to expose a shaved head so that Zach was not the only one to not have hair.  This little boy’s love and care for his friend is huge beyond his years.  Zach is continuing to get treatments.  Vincent says “Friendship is a beautiful thing”.  As they say in this report, “Wisdom doesn’t always come with age”.  Thanks Vincent for showing us all just how to be a true friend.  Thanks to Patricia M for sharing this story today.
