Dreams Come True

What are your memories?

This is another one of those thought provoking commercials that we need to see.  Nature Valley used this time to ask 3 generations what memories they have of their childhood.  It is amazing to see the difference in each generation.  Nature has always been a part of growing up   If we do not take the time to show these young people they will miss the beauty of nature.  Whether nature is just going for a walk or growing something in the garden.  You must share and teach the next generation before it is forgotten. This is just a good reminder of what we all took for granted in our childhood.  Share with the young people in your lives.  Don’t be afraid to challenge them to do some of the things you did growing up.  They will appreciate it and will love you more for sharing it.  What are your memories?  Have you taught a young person something you learned when you were young.  Memories made together last longer.

Paying for Groceries

I know this video is a little longer than most of the ones we have.  It is worth taking a few extra minutes to watch.  This guy surprises many strangers by paying for their groceries. He doesn’t wait around to be thanked or to explain why, mostly saying God is Good.  Many people are just speachless.  Some are just shocked.  One guy said he was so shocked and it really meant so much since he had just been mugged recently.   Unfortunaley, you can’t really hear the things they are saying.  You can really see how touched they all are and so surprised.  Some even want to give to the next customer.  What would you do?  Is it harder sometimes to receive than it is to give?  Some are even brought to tears.  They are so surpised that someone would do this for them.  I think it is even more special as the man does not wait around to be thanked or to hear their story. It doen’t matter what their story is.  He just wanted to do it for them.  What a wonderful touching story. AND… as it says at the end, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”.

Deaf Mom Hears Son’s Voice for the First Time

Dawn lost her hearing about 15 years ago.  She had hearing loss that was so severe that hearing aids were never an option. Being deaf, it is so hard for her to follow a conversation because she reads lips.  When more than one person is talking it is almost impossible for her to follow the conversation.  She has 3 children with her youngest being 8 years old. She has never heard her son’s voice.  This video goes with her through the surgery that gives her a cochlear implant allowing her to hear again. What makes this video so special is when she hears her son for the first time. I think he wanted her to hear him even more than she wanted to hear him.  He is cute.  He is so excited for her to hear him.  He couldn’t wait to tell her he loves her.  What a special time for the two of them.  Family makes this so special. It is a whole new world for this family. We are so happy for you.

Having A Second Wedding to Remember the First

August 1st 2014 Jeremy Stamper and his wife Justice got married out at Hungry Mother State Park and it was perfect.  We were at the top of the world, newlyweds and our whole lives head of us. They had big plans until August 20th 2014 just 19 days after the wedding. Justice was traveling just down the road to her aunt’s house and to meet Jeremy when he got off work when it happened. She was rearended at a dead stop at about 50 MPH plus. She was nearly killed in the impact but by the grace of God she survived.  About a month after the accident she finially told her husband “I don’t want you to be mad….but I do not remember the wedding.” He said hewould do it all again for her. She has memory loss from about 5 weeks before the wedding. She didn’t even know they were married. He is now raising money to give her the wedding she will never forget for their first anniversary in August.  What a wonderful gift to the woman he loves so much.  Currently they have raised over $8,800. http://www.gofundme.com/thestamperwedding.  Mr. & Mrs. Stomper…. have a great time at your wedding Round 2.

Grandpa’s Dream Achieved

Did you ever have that one thing you always wish you could do?  Some people call this a “Bucket List”.  It is a thing that you want to do before you die.   Many bucket lists include travel to exotic destinations, accomplishing certain tasks, climbing a mountain or running a race.  Bucket lists are personal and change person to person.  Have you created a bucket list?  This is a story about a 91 year old grandpa who always wanted to know what it would be like to drive through a garage door.  His family and friends found a neighbor that wanted to replace their garage door so they arrange to “safely” put Grandpa in the driver’s seat for the ride of his life.  They planned it out so carefully so that they would make sure that no one was injured and nothing was broken (except of course, that garage door).  Right after the moment of inpact you see nothing but pure joy in the face of the Grandpa.  It was something he always wanted to do and now… it was done.  Have you ever wanted to do something that noone else quite understood?  Isn’t it wonderful that this family was able to help him complete his dream?

Stranger Buys Car for Single Mom

A struggling North Carolina mother got the surprise of a lifetime when a stranger bought her a car.  WLOS reports that Connie Cole recently called Carolina Auto Sales in Black Mountain in desperate need of a car. The mother of three had no way of realizing that a stranger overheard the conversation over the speakerphone. After the conversation ended, the stranger told the car lot owner to call him if the mother comes back. The stranger said he “heard something in her voice” and wanted to buy her the car. He said “the Lord” wanted him to do it. He asked the dealership to let him know if she came back.  When she returned to the car dealer with her father who provided the down payment of $800 she discovered that a stranger would be paying the remaining $2200.

The mother works at an Asheville sub shop. She said she will never forget him and that it “just means the Lord is out there.”

92 Year Old Finishes Marathon

Meet the 92-year-old Harriet Thompson who has become the oldest person to ever finish a marathon, running almost 50 km in 7 hours. This time she ran in the Rock n Roll Marathon in San Diego, California.  She has finished this marathon 15 times before.  She runs in the Rock n Roll Marathon because it raises money for Blood Cancer Research and patient services.  She had cancer twice and her husband died in January from cancer and one of her sons just started chemotherapy. How inspiring this woman is to keep running.  She is so amazing and I can’t believe I would ever be able to run a marathon let alone run one when I was 92 years old.  She is so amazing and so inspiring. It just proves that you need to keep moving to keep moving.  Way to go Harriet.

Stranger Amazing Gesture for Fallen Officer’s Son

Sam Brownlee was a Colorado Sheriff’s Deputy.  He was shot and killed when trying to capture a subject after a high speed chase while on duty.  They are auctioning off his patrol car to raise money for an organization that helps the families of fallen officers. There is one bidder for this car that is kind of special.  The Sheriff’s son, Tanner Brownlee would like to win the auction so he could have his Dad’s patrol car. Tanner was only 15 when his father died. He doesn’t have much to remember his dad.  Tanner didn’t have much money to bid on the car.  He just hoped that who ever got the car would take care of it.  The bidding started and Tanner was right in the bidding.  Soon the price went way more than Tanner had available.  He watched as the price of the $12,500 car grew to $60,000.   A man who bought the former service car of a fallen Weld County, Colorado Sheriff’s deputy turned this purchase into an amazing act of kindness. After he won the car he walked over and presented the keys to Tanner.  He couldn’t believe what this many had done.  What a wonderful gesture.  It is amazing when people do amazing things for special people.

Homeless Valedictorian Amazes All

It’s hard being a teenager.  There are lots of distractions that keep teenagers from getting good grades.  Here is a story of a boy that had alots of distractions.  Not the normal teenage distractions.  He lost his mother to cancer when he was 6 years old . Soon with his father and brother he became homeless and lived  in and out of different shelters.  In April just before finals and AP exams Griffin found himself homeless again.  But through it all Griffin Furlong was named Valedictorian of his high school.  Not only is graduating but Furlong was managed to earn a 4.65 GPA and was accepted to Florida State University. What an amazing story of an unbelievable young man.  Through all his ups and downs he never missed a day of school. His friends set up an online fund raising campaign that earned over $95,000 to help pay for college.  Griffin was overwhelmed and only wished that he could have his mom hear his speech.  He finished his speech with “It is amazing what you can do with your life, if you have motivation, ambition and a purpose”.  Way to go Griffin.  We wish you sucess in college and in life.

A Special Prom Invite

Corning High School student Cope Robinson asked Autumn Pollard to prom this year in front of the entire student body during a pep rally. Pollard is a junior at Corning High School and has Noonan syndrome. Her parents said it affects growth, the heart and several other aspects. Autumn said she usually joins the mascot on the basketball court to do a dance during the pep rally but she wasn’t expecting what happened next. “They turned me towards the words and here’s Cope walking to me with purple flowers, my favorite color,” Pollard said.

Robinson, a sophomore football player, said he and Autumn go to the same church and thanks to the help of his older sister and a few others, they were able to pull off the big surprise. He also said he hopes people see the video and feel inspired to be kind to others.“More people see that and be like that, instead of no, I’m not going to go with this kid, I’m not going to go with that kid,” said Robinson. It is wonderful to see how Cope respected Autumn and wanted to share this occasion with her.  They are wonderful examples to us all.
