A Big Surprise for a Deserving Woman

This video starts out as a commercial for Eastern Bank.  What it ends up being is an act of kindness from a community.  Deedee Zgonis owns a pizza parlor with her husband Yani.  Yani passed away at 54 years old and left her alone to run the restaurant.   We all know how difficult it is to lose a loved one but imagine how much harder when that loved on is your business partner. She found it hard to even come into work. She had to learn all aspects of the business.  She stepped up and learned all about the business. She went to the bank for a loan and they learned her story.  The bank and the community wanted to help her.  The bank sent her and a friend on a spa weekend.  She went off with her friend to relax and that is when the fun started.  The community came togther and gave her pizza parlor a makeover.  When she returned from her trip she found a whole new look and all with the help of her daughters.  This is just what she needed and also what the community needed to help one of their own.  What an awesome giftto this deserving woman. I know it is a commercial for the bank but it really was so much more.

This is a story of one little girl and one little boy.  Brittney Husbyn and Briggs Fussy walked down the aisle in Minnesota during a wedding of of some friends. Not recently, no this was about 20 years ago as the flower girl and ring bearer. Many years later they ran into eachother. One day they reconnected in school.  She remembered him when they ran into each other in college.  She told him that she had his picture on the wall at home.  That meeting lead to a first date which led to many more. Now they are walking down the aisle again but this time it is time to get married.  After 5 years together they are now back where they were almost 20 years ago…walking down the aisle at their own wedding.  What are the chances?  Isn’t this a great testimony on how a chance meeting can turn into something much more.  Take time when you meet someone new.  You may have a connection that will bring you back together years later.  We wish the best for these two.  Many happy year together.

Letter Mix Up Leads to Hunting Trip

It all started with the Chester County Sheriff, Alex Underwood, offering to take kids up to 12 years of age on a hunting and fishing trip. He posted the request on Facebook.  That is when 9 year old Chester County, Alex jumped at the chance and wrote to the sheriff that he wanted to go.  You see, he only has his mom and she is not well and can’t do much.  The boy hand-delivered the letter to the Sheriff’s Office, the only problem, he lives in Chester County, Pennsylvania and the invitation was from the sheriff in Chester County, South Carolina.  The sheriff in Chester County Pennsylvania did some research and contacted the Sheriff in South Carolina.   When asked Sheriff Underwood said, “If you can get him here, we can take him with us”,  So she put him on a plane and he was met in South Carolina by the Sheriff and a fleet of patrol cars.  The first thing they did was go shopping for gear.  They bought him hunting clothes and boots with money that was donated and some from the sheriff himself.  They didn’t see a deer that day but they did have a wonderful time.  The boy stayed to hunt and fish for three days before having to return home.  What a wonderful gift for this young boy.  This is a gift he will never forget.

Oh Baby…Say Cheese

Today’s video hit the other day on the internet and it has already been viewed one million plus times.  It is the perfectly sweet video of a young couple at a very important time in their lives.. the announcement of a baby.  If you haven’t seen it yet you must watch.  Many of us have made our way to that photo booth.  Maybe not as much anymore as when I was young.  Now a days with the selfies you probably will see these photo booths go by the way of the pay phones.  This one was still there for this young woman and her husband.  She had been planning this (probably for quite sometime).  She got him to go with her to the booth. That in it self was probably quite a feat.  She had obviously set up a plan with him.  Then she held up the sign.  He was playing along thinking the plan was still the same.  Then she shows him the sign.  It was all worth the wait.  She got the reaction that she wanted.  What a loving gesture.  We wish these two the best during this time and in the future as they begin their family.  Congratuations from A Little Good News.  We love sharing this type of good news.

Police Detective Takes Care of Foster Kids

Jack Mook is a Pittsburgh police detective.  He is a bachelor and quite a tough character.  He spends most of his time working hard.  He loves to box and even volunteers at the Steel City Boxing Gym.  He teaches the sport to street kids, most of them born into poverty.  He met 11 year old Jess and his 15 year old brother Josh there at the gym.  They like each other and worked well with Jack.  That is why he was concerned when they stopped showing up at the gym.  Jack went out looking for them and found the older brother.  He looked bad. He told Jack that he was in a bad way.  They had foster parents that were abusive and negectful.  So Jack got the kids placed in a new home…his.  He has been their foster parent for over two years now.  He says the homework is really hard.  He loves being their foster day.  That was until this past September… he adopted them.  They couldn’t be happier.  It is the best thing that could have happend to all of them.  Way to go Officer Mook.  Way to see a problem and find a solution.  Maybe not the easiest solution but one that you knew was right.

Secret Santa in Kansas City

There is a man in Kansas City that uses this time of year for random acts of kindness.  Every year this man gives away away about $100,000 anonymously to needy people.  This year Secret Santa is getting the help of the Kansas City Police department to distribute his money to needy people.  The police went out on patrol and they would stop people who appeared to need some financial help this season.  Most people were really concerned when they were stopped until the officer explained why he stopped them.  Most people were so surprised that they burst into tears.  One lady even said that she was not going to be able to get her kids anything for Christmas until now.  Now this Secret Santa said he not only wanted to give money to people but also wanted the officers to be able to give it away.  There has been some bad police stories this year that he wanted the police to also get the joy of giving this money out.  They got the chance to be the bearer of good news for a change.  They got a chance to help homeless and the law abiders.  There were hugs and celebrations.  What a great way for the police to help Secret Santa to make the holidays better for people in need.  Great job Kansas City.

The littlest UPS driver ever

This time of year you see lots of delivery trucks driving around the neighborhood.  But if you live in Colorado Springs you might just be surprised at this one delivery person.  4 year old Carson has always had a facination for big trucks.  When he was little he needed to have special milk so weekly the UPS truck would pull up at his house.  At first he was a little scared of the truck but soon after meeting the driver, Mr. Ernie, he started waiting by the window to see him.  He even got his own uniform to wear when Mr. Ernie was coming.  Carson is facinated by everything about UPS.  One day Mr. Ernie had a huge surprise for him.  With the help of UPS he got Carson his own UPS truck.  He was so excited.  He created his own packages and map and started his deliveries.  Mr. Ernie and Carson have a special bond that will never change.  They are two special friends.  Thanks to UPS and Mr. Ernie for granting this wish for a young boy who just wanted to be a deliver man like his friend.

100 Year Old Woman Sees the Ocean

Ruby Holt spent most of her 100 years on a farm in rural Tennessee picking cotton and raising her four children.  On November 20th she went to see the ocean.  Ruby had never seen the ocean and had always wanted to go.  She made her wish known to her assisted living center and a group that grants wishes to the elderly.  During the summer they had a water gun fight at their senior center and during the fight discussion came up about water and the ocean and she said that she had never been.  They submitted a “wish of a lifetime”.  She will be 101 next month.  She was so amazed by the ocean.  It was so wonderful to see the pure joy she got by walking on the sand and seeing the ocean.  Somethings we all take for granted can be only a dream to others.  This is a wonderful time to share your experiences with others.  Give a little joy when you can.  Thank you to Pierre C for sharing this story with us.  Did you see a great story?  Please let us know so we can share the good news with others.
