Washing Clothes for the Homeless

Austrailia’s first mobile laundry is helping the homeless.  Founded in October 2014, the world first free mobile laundry has since completed over 45 000 kgs of free laundry for Australia’s homeless. With the key aim of connecting the community, by restoring respect, raising health standards and reducing the strain on resources, they work together as a community and have found a way to treat others the way they want to be treated. Then when the cyclone hit they also took their idea and helped out communities that could not wash due to the issues caused by this horific storm.  They said their goals are to restore respect, raise health standards and reduce the stress on resources.  The people who have used the services cannot believe what it does for them and the people around them.  They are soon launching their 4th service area. Thanks for all your help and support to your community and the people you serve.  Your idea is amazing and I hope it spreads to more and more areas.  Learn more and donate today at www.orangeskylaundry.com.au

Giving Her Coat Off Her Back

This story happened some time ago but it still is a wonderful story to hear.  Sometimes things can go terribly wrong and still turn out amazing. That’s what happened when two strangers connected on a bitterly cold night in downtown Richmond. Felicia Glover reached out to help Kinley Crenshaw, who had no coat, no money and no way to get home. Their story sparked a Facebook frenzy, cemented a friendship, and inspired today’s Acts of Kindness.  Kinley was out with some friends at a concert.  As girls do she gave all her personal belongings to her friend to hold in her purse.  As they left the two got separated leaving Kinley without any identification, money or even a coat.  She made her way to a bus stop.  That is when she met Felicia.  Felicia gave her the coat off her back and made sure she got on the bus to get home.  After she got home she notified the local tv station to get the word out and find her gardian angel.  The station offered her $300 to give to her new friend thanking her for her kindness.  Way to go Felicia. You are an amazing woman.  AND great job Kinley for putting forth the effort to find her to return her coat and thank her.

Teen finds wallet and returns it.

Here is a short video with a great story.  A young man found a wallet that contained $2300.  His family was struggling with expenses but he never considered keeping the money. He turned it in right away to his school officials.  The wallet was claimed by a veteran who had lost his wallet.  The boys family was so proud of him for being doing the right thing.  When his mother sent him a text telling her how proud she was of him his reply was “You should be thanking yourself, you raised me”.  See when (as a parent) you are never really sure if they hear you and understand your lessons then you see something like this and realize, they are getting it.  Great job Mom and Dad for teaching this young man right from wrong and how to do the right thing.  AND thank you Tommy for thinking of others and doing the right thing.  Also, thanks to the vet who did reward Tommy.  BTW – I am sorry, but this video does not stop at the end of this story but continues on with a weather report from a local station. We could not edit this so just accept my apologies for this at the end of this great story.

Woman wakes from coma to baby’s cry

A mother Shelly Cawley who slipped into coma after the birth of her child had miraculously woken up after the she heard her baby’s cries. The family of the woman thought they were going to say their last goodbye to the woman as they were escorted through the hallways of North Carolina Hospital. Her blood pressure was dangerously low (60/40, doctors later told the family) and her heart rate was soaring (more than 180 beats per minute). Cawley was hooked up to what doctors called “the last-chance ventilator,” a machine pumping air into her lungs with such force that it rattled her hospital bed with each artificial breath, her husband, Jeremy Cawley, said. They were willing to try anything to give this mom a reason to live.  So they stripped the baby down and put her skin to skin on her mother’s chest.  They wanted her to feel, smell and hear the baby giving her a reason to fight. And they thought Rylan Grace Cawley — just hours old — might be the only one who could help. They had to tickle and pinch the baby a bit to get her to cry so her mother could hear her. When the baby did, her mother’s vitals jumped . e said he was told it may have given her the strength she needed to push through. A week later, Shelly Cawley woke up and met her baby daughter. Even though in a coma the mother still knew her little girl was there and that she needed her.  What a heart warming story.

Christmas Box Brings a Surprise

This is a story that started many years ago.  It is a story about a little boy who one Christmas created a shoebox gift for a far away land. Samaritan’s purse is an organization that collects shoeboxes full of gifts for little boys and girls in underprivileged countries.  The girl, Joanna Marchan, received that gift and always remembered the picture of the little boy that was in the box.  When she grew up she searched through social media for this young man.  She found him, Tyrel Wolfe, on Facebook and they connected.  He saved until one day he could travel to the Philapines where she lived.  They grew together and discovered that they were meant to be together.  After several other trip he asked her father if he could marry her.  For their wedding they asked for more Christmas shoeboxes and they drove them to the headquarters for Samaritan’s purse so they could not only share their story but make more children happy when they received their shoeboxes.  How wonderful can a little simple act change the lives of these two people.

A Wedding After 50 years

Do you remember your first love? Unless you are still with them, it most likely ended in heartache. One couple knows this feeling all too well. When they were in college in 1961, Janice and Prentiss fell in love. It all happened fast but they knew they wanted to be together forever. They got engaged and wanted to be married! But Janice’s father had other plans. He forbid the two from seeing each other or he would cut off her tuition. There, in college, they ended their relationship. They both went on to live their lives separately. Though they never lost the love for each other they both married other people. But fate wouldn’t let those last. Years later, Tom found the newspaper clipping from their engagement in his mother’s belongings. Janice found the same clipping in her mother’s things. They both kept it. Unlike Janice’s father, their mothers knew they should be together. This was a beautiful, clear sign they were meant for each other. Decades after they parted, they ran into each other and the rest is history. They never stopped thinking about or loving each other. Now both age 71, 50 years after they met, they finally got married and had the wedding they had waited for. Like the famous saying goes, “It’s better late than never!” They weren’t wasting any more years, they are going to make the most of their time together.”We are so happy. Our marriage is perfect. Of course we have few years to live it, but it will be perfect,” Janice explains of their new life together. Never give up on love.

Dog Saves Little Girl

This is a story from last winter about a little girl who wandered off from the family home.  Search and Rescue teams searched the area for 15 hours looking for missing three year old Victoria. She had wandered away from her home on a cold February night and got lost in the woods behind her house. Finally she was found and it was discovered that their family dog, Blue, a Queensland Heeler, had stayed with her all night and kept her warm in the cold temperatures. What a hero Blue is! Those that have pets in their family realize not only how much those pets mean to their family but also how much the family means to the pets.   You can tell it in this story of the little girl.  The dog knew she was not where she should be and that there was no one to take care of her except him.  So that is just what he did. He took care of her.  Who would know that it would turn out to be the family dog that saves her. What a great family member….even though he is a dog, he is a member of this family.

Siri to the Rescue

Many have used the help tool Siri (found on Iphones) to ask for receipes, directions, location of your favorite restaurants.  Recently one 18 year old used Siri when he could not get help from anyone else.  He was working on his truck and it slipped off the jack.  The over 5000 lb truck landed on Sam Ray from Murfreesboro, Tennessee as he was pinned underneath his truck and used the personal assistant-like service to call for help.  He leaned against his phone and heard Siri say ,”This is Siri here , How may I help you?”.  That is when he said, “Dial 911″.  He was pinned for nearly 40 minutes before help arrived.  He had broken ribs, bruised kidney and cuts and bruises.  He had to be airlifted to a local hospital. He has the 911 dispatch driver and Siri to thank for his rescue.  Sometimes technology is there to rescue us whether we are just lost and can’t find that house we are going to or in this case it saved his life.  How amazing.  So happy to hear you are ok Ray.  Hope you learned not to work on your truck alone.

A Mom’s Take on a Great Song

Today’s video is not news and after you hear it you will know that this song will not be “news” to any mom.  This song tells life like it is. This is a mom’s look at a great tune.  To all you moms out there you can relate.  This lady has a beautiful voice and took a very beautiful song and rewrote the words to reflect the feelings of every new mom.  Hope you enjoy the words and watching the little boy as he enjoys his mother’s voice.

Dog Train

If you are in Fort Worth, Texas, you might get a glimpse of an unusual train puttering down a road. You might have to do a double take, as you realize it’s a train filled with dogs! Eighty-year-old Eugene Bostick and his “dog train” are well known to locals. He’s been driving the tractor with eight barrels in tow for several years. It turns out the retiree built the train for the stray dogs he’s rescued with his brother over the years, after people have dumped the dogs near their property.“I started out with my tractor. I had a little trailer and I put four or five dogs in there and took them riding. Then more dogs started to show up and I said, ‘Uh-oh! That’s not enough room!’ That’s when I came up with that,” Bostick told NBCDFW explaining how the dog train came into being.Recently, Tiffany Johnson, who has seen him regularly go by her office, wanted to take a picture. “This is the coolest guy he rescues stray dogs and every morning he takes them for a train ride by our building, I finally got the courage up to ask if I could take his pic! Love this and had to share!” she wrote on Facebook after sharing the photo.

Tiffany told one commenter that the dogs don’t ever jump out. It seems they know exactly what to do and bark enthusiastically on their ride! When Tiffany was asked where Bostick finds the strays, she said, “he just rescues them from going to the pound!! He said people actually drop their dogs they no longer can take care of, off to him”. What a wonderful, kind man! The pups sure look like they love it!  Share this sweet story with your family and friends!
