Homeless

He bought 100 Hamburgers

This is another wonderful story of how simple it is to make a difference.  Will it fix the problem of homeless, no.  Will it make a difference to some, you bet it will. Taking a few moments to make a difference to others is something anyone can do.  Today we watch when Lance stepped up to the counter at McDonald’s and asked for 100 McDoubles, the cashier thought it was all a joke. But when he started selflessly passing out food to the homeless, my heart was touched. This teen and his friends are amazing role models for the young generation!  This is a wonderful heart warming video. Thank you to Lance for thinking of this and sharing it with us.

Washing Clothes for the Homeless

Austrailia’s first mobile laundry is helping the homeless.  Founded in October 2014, the world first free mobile laundry has since completed over 45 000 kgs of free laundry for Australia’s homeless. With the key aim of connecting the community, by restoring respect, raising health standards and reducing the strain on resources, they work together as a community and have found a way to treat others the way they want to be treated. Then when the cyclone hit they also took their idea and helped out communities that could not wash due to the issues caused by this horific storm.  They said their goals are to restore respect, raise health standards and reduce the stress on resources.  The people who have used the services cannot believe what it does for them and the people around them.  They are soon launching their 4th service area. Thanks for all your help and support to your community and the people you serve.  Your idea is amazing and I hope it spreads to more and more areas.  Learn more and donate today at www.orangeskylaundry.com.au

Haircuts for the Homeless

Sometimes when you look for these good news stories you think you have heard them all.  The homeless is a problem that can be approached many ways.  This video was another thing that can be done to help people out that are down on their luck.  Taking something you know to share with others is such a great gift.  How wonderful to watch these people who feel maybe like they are not deserving get treated with respect and honor.  Offering haircuts to people who may never get one otherwise. Then at the end the man actually gives his shirt to the guy who doesn’t even have a shirt.  It is so touching.  What a wonderful idea to treat these people who need some attention. Do you have a craft or something that you can share with others.  Maybe it is someone you don’t know or maybe it is a neighbor that needs your help.  Take a moment to think of all the things you could share with others.  Look around.  There is probably someone out there you can help too.  Way to go guys.  What  a great example for others.

A Kind Heart Helping Others

Laraine Dawn Young was on vacation last month in Makati with her boyfriend Chris, when she experienced a wordless act of kindness by him that so melted her heart, she had to grab her phone to record the scene as it was unfolding. He stopped what he was doing and did something helping others. She called the video, “An Act of Compassion: The Man I Love Has The Most Beautiful Soul.” She tells her story: “Chris and I were walking out of our hotel in Makati when I saw some children sleeping on the sidewalk. I felt so bad for these kids – I told my boyfriend about them kids and he saw them just laying there looking tired and sickly. Unquestionably, he felt bad for them as well. He told me to watch our things because he wanted to go to the nearest convenience store – I thought maybe he was just thirsty or hungry so OK. After a few minutes, he came out with a bag of groceries and told me he’s going to give it to the kids. *I melted*

As he was crossing the street, I decided to take a video so I can keep reminding myself that I’ve been blessed with a man who is not only smart, sexy and handsome but one who is also beautiful inside and out. He didn’t know I was recording this video until he got back :)

I wanted to keep this video to myself, but I am proud of my man. I wanna share his kind deed to the world even if he deserves more recognition than this. How something so simple can mean so much to not only the ones you serve but the ones who witness you serving.  Take the time to look around and see if there is something you can do to help others.

A Perfect Example

This video is short and to the point.  It is a perfect example of how to treat people. It is about a professional wrestler (Titus O’Neil) who (by caring for people) showed a local San Diego restaurant how to treat people better.  On Friday, O’Neil treated a pair of homeless people to a meal at a Yard House restaurant. The experience wasn’t ideal, but instead of stomping his feet, O’Neil decided to prove a point. He returned to the same restaurant on Saturday, this time with a lot more of those less fortunate.  And based on his Instagram post, it went a lot better: Completely Different Response than Last night at the @YardHouse in San Diego I’m Not a Fan of Injustice or Prejudice of any sort towards Anybody. My Mother Raised Me with the Help of many others from all walks of life and there were many Times that I had to go without as a youth because of A Lack of Financial resources. People will categorize those that they can’t relate to criticize those that stand up and speak out against what’s wrong all until it directly affects them. I’m not the richest man in the world, but Money,Fame and Status have never held me Bondage because at the end of the day I’ve Gone without before and God has always provided for me. Now I have the opportunity to do the exact thing that others did for me when I had nothing to give them in return….LOVE OTHERS!!! Thanks to those that accepted Help & Those that Treated my guest at lunch as Humans,Patrons and Gods People.  Way to go

Found Money Returned to Homeless Man

A police officer was patroling in Lauderdale by the Sea and discovered a couple plastic bags left under a park bench.  He took the bags to the station and turned them over to Police Detective Danny Mursell. There was over $5,000 dollars in cash in the bag with no identifying notes inside.  Soon another similar bag was turned over with another $4,000 inside. They found a clue.  A receipt was in side for a clothing store in the Coral Ridge Mall.  They were able to obtain video footage of the man who bought the clothes.  They distributed the picture to all the police in the area and shortly were able to locate the man.  They discovered that this homeless man had inherited a large sum of money from a relative and had accidentaly left it at the bench.  It tooks some fine detective work to reunited this man and his money.  He could not believe that there was still good people in the world who would turn over the money.  Now the homeless man is going to meet some family and try to get his life back in order.  We know ther are good people out there and we do wish this man the best luck.

9 Year Old Builds Houses

When Hailey Fort was just 5 years old, she spotted a homeless man in Kitsap County, Washington where she lives. She asked her mom whether she could help him. Her mom said yes, and for the last four years, that’s what Hailey’s been doing: helping the homeless, with the help of her mom. She plans to build 12 mobile shelters this year. Houses for the homelss she says. Miranda said the family has already met with the city to make sure the shelter won’t cause a problem though its exact location has not yet been determined. “Our city ordinance on the issue states that it can be placed on a church lot. We have a few leads on churches that will allow the structures.” Food is another one of Hailey’s priorities. She grows fruits and vegetables, and hopes to grow 250 pounds for the homeless this year. She’s begun documenting her progress on a Facebook page “Hailey’s Harvest.” The homeless, her mom said, are people she counts as her friends. It’s that friendship, in part, that keeps her going. “Hailey is repeatedly told that she can stop at any time but she continues because this is her passion. I think a lot has to do with setting such high goals and then the rush she gets when she meets them.” In addition to the 12 mobile shelters and 250 pounds of food: 1000 toiletries, 500 feminine hygiene products and 100 coats. She’s trying to raise $1,000 on her GoFundMe page and is about three-fourths of the way there. The community has been supportive of Hailey’s efforts. The cost to build one shelter, her mom said, is about $300, but the reason that price is so low is because she gets many items donated. The walls are made of pallets, which are stuffed with recycled denim insulation. The structure has a shingled roof, drywall, wood siding, and vinyl flooring. The house will have window curtains, a solar-powered lamp and most importantly, a lock on the front door. What an amazing little girl.

A Tiny House is Just What She Needed

This is a story about a man who saw a need and met it.  It seems he had the resources and the desire to help a woman in his neighborhood who was living on the street.  She had nothing and no where to live.  So he created one.  It may not be the best place but it was better than what she had.  He did what he could with what he had.  He made a difference in her life.  And … he expected nothing in return.  What can we do to help others?  Is there something that you can do?  We may not all have the resources or the talent to build little houses.  We can do things like work at the food pantry.  Donate extra items to a shelter. Or just give something even more personal… like your smile as you pass a stranger on the street.  It doesn’t take much.  Every little bit helps.  Take the time to give to others.  You will receive much more joy in return.

Homeless Valedictorian Amazes All

It’s hard being a teenager.  There are lots of distractions that keep teenagers from getting good grades.  Here is a story of a boy that had alots of distractions.  Not the normal teenage distractions.  He lost his mother to cancer when he was 6 years old . Soon with his father and brother he became homeless and lived  in and out of different shelters.  In April just before finals and AP exams Griffin found himself homeless again.  But through it all Griffin Furlong was named Valedictorian of his high school.  Not only is graduating but Furlong was managed to earn a 4.65 GPA and was accepted to Florida State University. What an amazing story of an unbelievable young man.  Through all his ups and downs he never missed a day of school. His friends set up an online fund raising campaign that earned over $95,000 to help pay for college.  Griffin was overwhelmed and only wished that he could have his mom hear his speech.  He finished his speech with “It is amazing what you can do with your life, if you have motivation, ambition and a purpose”.  Way to go Griffin.  We wish you sucess in college and in life.

He Helps the Homeless in an Amazing Way

This is an amazing story about a retired Minnesota teacher known as the ‘Sandwich Man’ who is dedicating every day of his life the helps the homeless.  Allen Law has dedicated his life to helping the homeless in Minneapolis.  He retired from work as a teacher to start his new career providing for people who need help.  He goes out each night driving a van taking what is needed to the people who need it the most.  Does he do it alone?  No but without his help it wouldn’t get done. 363 is the number on the side of his van.  ”That number represents the days that most people don’t think of the poor”says Allen.  ”I will be out there every night”.  There  is no stopping him.  He hands out sandwiches, bus tokens, socks and other necessities.  He uses what he has and what others share with him to make this happen. Like his brother who offered for him to use his apartment while he was away and Allen filled it with socks, blankets and storage of other donations. That is not to mention his own house and the 17 freezers that hold the sandwiches that the churches and civic organizations make for him. Over 700,00 sandwiches which he drops off at homeless shelters.  He is a special kind of man.  Thank you Allen for your dedication.  You are amazing.
