Spiderman Comes for A Visit

What is more exciting for a little boy than if his favorite hero comes for a visit?  Nothing.  This is why Jayden’s dad put on a Spiderman suit and jumped into his life.  You see it was Jayden’s birthday.  His 5th birthday.  But it is not just Jayden’s birthday.  Jayden has been diagnosed with Grade 4 Brain Stem Tumor with an average of 1 year to live.  His family is doing everything they can to make his life as good as it can be for the time he has left.  This is just a short homemade video of the experience this little boy had when Spiderman showed up at his door.  You can track Jayden’s progress on his Facebook page at :

It is so hard to have a sick child that sometimes you get caught up in the grief. It is so wonderful to see this Dad do this fun thing for his little boy  on his 5th birthday.  Mike, you are a great dad.  Keep up the good work and our thoughts and prayers are with Jayden during this difficult journey.

Drowning Puppy Rescue

Here is a video from India of a rescue effort to save a drowning puppy.  It appears from the video that a man passing down the street noticed the puppy who had fallen down a well.  We don’t know how long the puppy had been there buth they seem to think that it would not last long.  A group of people step in and work together to lower a young man down the well to gather up the little pup and carry him to safety.  After rescuing the puppy they take him to a local vet for care.  Here is another example of unselfish acts to help out another.  Even when the other is an animal.  This man did risk his life by being lowered down to save a small defenseless puppy.  Ganpat and your team of rescuers are our heroes for the day.  You did a great thing for one of God’s little creatures saving him from drowning.  Thank you for caring.

Two Men Save Teenage Swimmer

A day at the beach.  Sometimes it is uneventful but quickly it can turn deadly for swimmers.  This is the case of this story.  Gary Golding saw a teenage boy who was caught up in a rip current in Abolone Cove in California had already taken the life of a teen early that day.  This teen had fallen into the current and then had been knocked unconcious.  While Gary stuggled to save his own life in this tumultuous current, Rob McNulty dives in to help out.  He swims quickly before he too gets caught in the rip tide.  You can see him pull the teen out and begin CPR.  CPR training that he had done over 20 years ago quickly came back to him. They both work on the teen until the lifeguards show up and air lift the teen to the hospital.  Great job by both quick thinking men.  Once again, it is another case of being watchful of your surroundings (to not get into this situation) but also to be able to help out when you are needed.  Today we honor Gary and Rob for your heroic efforts.  Great job.

Terminally ill Lauren Hill gets her wish

This story is one you will want to watch. This story has been all over the last few days.  If you have not heard it yet , you must see this story.  It is a story of a young woman who when she turned 18 years old she got bad news.  Not just bad news but devistating news.  Lauren Hill is a basketball player.  First and foremost she is a basketball player. She loves to play basketball. She played in high school and she was looking forward to playing in college.  Before she could start college she learned that she was terminal with brain cancer - DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) .  This is advancing so quickly and her one wish was to play in one college game while she still could.  The team had to get the permission of the NCAA to allow them to move the first game up by a couple of weeks so that she could play.  The game was moved to Xavier University and the 10,000 seats were sold out over a week ago.  Everyone was there to support Lauren.  She came into the game at the beginning and made a strong play with a basket.  She had to leave the game after that and was presented an award after the game.  What courage she shows for such a young woman.  Lauren we really admire you for what you have done and the way you are handling this time in your life.  I am so happy that you got your wish to play in a college game.  You are a very special young lady.

Like a Girl – think about it

This video has had more than 49 million views.  If you haven’t seen it yet, watch it, share it.  This has an amazing message for all girls out there.  When we use the expression “like a girl” it is a hard knock against young girls and all women.  Documentarian and filmmaker Lauren Greenfield put this video together as a commercial for Always femine products but also for much more. “When the words ‘like a girl’ are used to mean something bad, it is profoundly disempowering. I am proud to partner with Always to shed light on how this simple phrase can have a significant and long-lasting impact on girls and women. I am excited to be a part of the movement to redefine ‘like a girl’ into a positive affirmation.”  She took her position and an opportunity to share the message that “like a girl” doesn’t have to mean something negative.  What do you think of this video?  How can you take this message and help to spread it to people you know.  Thanks Lauren.  I think this message was long overdue.

Community Surrounds Boy with Love

TISSUE ALERT!!  Thanks to Patricia M for sharing this story with us.  This story will break your heart but it also brings joy that a community will come together to bring joy to a little boy.  Little Ethan Van Leuven is suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia.  Ethan is 4 and has been fighting this awful disease for most of his short life.  Recently the family was told that there is no hope for treatment for Ethan.  Now, to bring joy to their little boy, the family with the help of the community of West Jordan, Utah are bringing the holidays to Ethan this week one at a time.  Yesterday was Halloween for Ethan in West Jordan.  The costumes came out and candy was everywhere.  What an adorable little superman he was.  Holidays continue this week with Ethan’s birthday celebration on Thursday (about a month early) and Friday will be a big Christmas eve celebration by the community and Saturday the family will celebrate Ethan’s favorite holidsay Christmas.  Even the local radio station will play Christmas music for Ethan.  What a wonderful way to help this little boy have some joy during this difficult time.  Thank you to the community of West Jordan for all you are doing to make this dream come true.  But most of all Ethan, you are our hero today.  We hope you enjoy your holidays this week as much as everyone will in bringing them to you.  Happy Halloween, Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas to you Ethan from ALittleGoodNews.com.

Hockey player is not such a tough guy

If you know anything about hockey players you know that they are tough guys.  I have heard of some players who are injured during the game and come back to play after pulling out their own teeth.  But no matter how tough they are they have big hearts.  Here is a story about a hockey player from the St. Louis Blues.  Defensemen Alex Pietrangelo is one of those guys.  Alex has a niece Ellie who is battling cancer.  Ellie is a 5 year old.  She has gone through a lot for her young years.  Alex felt that as she loses her hair he could help make her feel better by allowing her to shave his hair.  He is doing this just to help her.  He talks about how much she means to him and what a special little girl she is.  His teammates are very supportive of this action.  He says it is not about him but about her struggles.  What a wonderful uncle to put himself out there just to make a little girl happy.  I have seen many stories about people who are upporting their loved ones who are suffering from cancer by shaving their heads.  We need to do what we can to Stand Up 2 Cancer.  You can too.  Support a Stand U2Cancer event in your community.  It may not cure cancer but it will bring joy to the life of someone who is suffering from this terrible disease.

Helping Homeless through Music

What can we do to help the homeless?  Sometimes it seems this is too big for me to help.  What can just a few people do?  Well, here is a video that shows what a small group of people in New York City did to help one homeless man.  They asked the same thing.  What could I do?  Then they got together and decided that that there was something that they could do.  They went out and found a guy that had a sign and needed some help.  They sat down and just started singing.  What a perfect song too.  I love the reaction of the homeless man.  He was a part of a group for a while (which I think brought him much joy).  He also was so touched to see what happened when they started to sing.  People walking by were willing to help when the music started.  Thanks to this group who call themselves the Model Pranksters.  They helped show the people of New York and everyone watching this video that you can help.

Town Rallies to Save Local Store

This is a story of a small town friend.  Avi is the owner of a local store in Levittown, New York.  Avi has been working in his store since it opened over 10 years ago.  His store took a big hit during the recession.  He works 7 days a week, 12 hours a day.  He keeps track of all the local happenings.  The town loves him as much as he loves them.  When the town heard that he might have to close they all showed up at the store and one by one came into the store and bought one thing after another.  He was overcome when he came outside and saw all the people who had come to pitch in and help him keep his store.  That is caring for your neighbors.  Way to go Levittown.  That is what a small town does when one of it’s own needs help.

Magic Helping the Homeless

Here is a great story that is trending right now.  Rob Anderson is a magician.  He decided one day to use his magic to help someone. He was walking down the street in Las Vegas and he sees this homeless veteran, Alan McKracken, who is asking for money and offering smiles. His sign reads that he needs “Homeless, trying to get by – Anything helps. God Bless”.  He also has a sign that says smile.  Rob decides to check it out and see if this guy is for real. What he does then is probably part of his act but it really surprises the guy.  Rob really wanted to help the guy out so after doing his trick and giving him the money he even started a GoFundMe.com campaign to help this vet out.  To date it has raised  over $38,000 that was raised by over 1500 people in just 10 days.  Amazing what we all can do if we just stand together.  If you would like to donate to help this vet you can too by going to  http://www.gofundme.com/fd33hs

Thanks Rob for bringing attention once again to our homeless who just need a little help to get started again.  Even just a smile. It started with a little magic and ended with so much more.   You started by giving Alan that smile and a new start.  Great job Rob.  You are today’s hero.
