Never Give Up

This lady is 90 years young. Watch her celebrate.

Do you ever wake up just too tired to get out of bed?  This video will give you the inspiration to carry on.  Here is a video celebrating Jean Phylps Veloz who is 90 years young.  It seems that Jean just turned 90 back in March and this video is how she celebrated her birthday.  Oh, too be so young at 90.  Jean is amazing.  Jean Veloz celebrated her 90th Birthday dancing with Chong Chan Meng, Remy Kouakou Kouame and Skye Humphries at her birthday party at Navy Club , Grand Palace Bangkok, Thailand, during SEA Jam 2014 dance camp organised by Jitterbugs Swingapore and Bangkok Swing.  We all can learn a few lessons from Jean.  First and foremost, stay active.  Second, is to enjoy life and don’t let life pass you by.  She is obviously doing just that.  Let’s all take a lesson from Jean and get out there and dance.  Dance is a fun way to exercise and it is also a great way to socialize.  I admire her for never slowing down even if you are getting up there in years.  Jean you are amazing.  We wish you many more active years.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

6th Grader Saves Life with CPR

11 year old Skylar Berry was at a birthday party last Sunday when one of the kids started sinking in the pool.  She knew something was wrong.  They pulled him out and she checked for a pulse.  After not feeling a pulse she started CPR. She was able to save his life.  Now to teach others she has started a class at her elementary school and a club.  Her club is called “Staying Alive”.  They are sharing with other kids how easy it is to know what to do in case of an emergency.  Skyler learned CPR at Fire camp this summer.  Fire Camp was put on by the local fire department to teach kids what to do in an emergency. She just learned this right before school started.  How fortunate for her and the child she saved that she attended Fire Camp this summer.  Take advantage of these types of services offered by your local agencies.  Who knows when you will need it.  If you don’t see any offered then search out a place to be trained on CPR.  Everyone should take the time to learn this life saving procedure.  It only takes a little time to be prepared to save a life.  Skylar you are our hero.

A Slippery Situation

Today’s story is just here to put a smile on your face and to get you ready for the weekend.  It is about a very slippery situation brought about due to a squirrel problem.  Make sure you listen to the folks in this video as they enjoy the show put on by the local wildlife.  A Rock Squirrel was raiding their bird feeder, not just eating but carrying away pounds of seed.  The couple thought and thought about how they could discourage the squirrel from bothering them.  Nancy figured a solution.  She coated the pole with Vaseline.  Who would have thought of that.  I don’t know which is funnier, the squirrel or Nancy’s narration.

They tell us that they have “trained” the squirrel not to bother that feeder anymore.  It didn’t even require any more applications of Vaseline.  Good thinking Nancy.  And yes… it made me laugh too.  Sometimes we just need something to chuckle at in the morning.  Thanks to Patricia M for sharing this video with us.  This was just a sweet video to watch and just brought a smile to my face.  I hope you enjoyed it.

Happy Labor Day!!

Labor Day is here.  That means a few different things.  Labor Day is a day off (for most of us).  It tells us that summer is coming to an end.  But what exactly is this holiday for?  The defintion of Labor Day is:

La·bor Day

a public holiday or day of festivities held in honor of working people, in the US and Canada on the first Monday in September, in many other countries on May 1.

I tried to find a video that would be about people who are hard working but instead I found this one.  It is from a speaker named John VonAchen.  He is a motivational speaker.  I thought that rather than showing you some people who were hard working, I would offer you on this Labor Day some motivation to be even more successful yourself.  Take a moment to watch this video and think about your life.  What can you change in your life to succeed? Your future is in your hands.  You can achieve what ever you put your mind to.  There is more out there for you.  Never Give UP!!  And take this day to honor all you have done in your life.  Tomorrow is another day and you can make it what ever you want it to be.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Message to Teachers and Students

As all our kids head back to school it is time for a video about school.   This is a message to teachers and students.  This video is from Kid President.  He has many videos on the internet and his presentation is fun but informative.  He really tries to get his point across with fun, laughter and great lines.  You have to listen closely not to miss any of his great ideas.  He reminds students as well as teachers how important learning is.  He talks about history and how we need to learn history so we don’t repeat it.  Wise words from a young man.  He reminds students they have to show up, can’t be late and pay attention.  Read books to learn.  He says everybody is a teacher and everybody is a student.  We can all be learning and we can also teaching others as we continue to learn.  He is so cute and inspiring.  So in his words, “Get your learn on”.  Great job Kid President.  We look forward to your next great video.  Thanks to Patricia M for sharing this video with us.

Needy woman gets a surprise at her door

It was a rainy day in Monroe Connecticut back in April.  When Penny Pompa woke up on April 30th this year she was shocked to find the Publisher’s Clearing House prize patrol at her door.  This is one of those things that everyone wishes would happen but only happens to a few.  This time the woman that won really needed this surprise.  As Penny tells the people who delivered her big check she had spent the morning praying for help.  It appears that Penny had been diagnosed with Lyme disease and with mounting medical bills and other bills she was just about to lose her home.  What perfect timing for her to receive this gift to help her out of this financial mess.  She could only say “This is amazing”.  We are so happy for her that she could win this prize at this time when she needed it so much.  Congratulations Penny.

Have you seen a good news story that you would like us to share?  Please send it to us at alittlegoodnewsmail@gmail.com OR you can message us on our facebook page. Amazing runner with MS

Kayla Montgomery is an amazing athlete in itself.  But when you hear what she overcoming you will be shocked.  Kayla is a runner for her high school track team.  Running track is something Kayla has been doing for sometime.  That was until she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).   She has gone form being one of the slower runners on her high school team to one of the fastest distance runners in the nation.  Three years ago when Kayla was diagnosed she said, “Instead of letting it stop me from running, I’ve used it to motivate me to break records”.  And break records she does.  She is doing so good that she trains with the boys team and receives no special treatment.  That is except when the  race is over.  You see, MS keeps her from feeling the pain in her legs.  When she stops running her legs gives out and she collapes.  As she crosses the finish line, her coach catches her to keep her from falling.  ”It kind of feels like I’m just kind of floating”, she says.  ”There’s nothing underneath me”.  Kayla’s coach, Patrick Cromwell is amazed at her progress.  ”I don’t know.  I would have never thought she would improve 8 minutes in four years either”.  No one knows what will happen as the disease progresses.  We only know that Kayla is amazing and we wish her the best.   Thanks to Shawn H for bringing us this story to share.

Those Who Have Less Give More

Here is a video that really tells a story.  These guys were testing the theory of those who have less give more.  At the same time they were helping out some people who need help.  Watch as they first ask for help from those who appear to have all they need. They ask for food from people who have food at a restaurant.  Then they offer food to those who do not have any food.  After offering the food they send someone else in to ask those with none (who were just given food from them) to share with someone in need.  The results are not what I would have expected.  I would assume if you have nothing and then you are given something you would want to keep what you received.  That is not what they do.  Those that have less DO give more.  They share the little they have with the one in need. How inspiring.  It also makes me stop and thing of how much I have and how I should share it more.  How does this story speak to you?  Start by sharing this video with those you know and then when the opportunity presents itself share with those in need.  You will be glad you did.

Mother and Son Reunited

I need to tell you that this is not a current story.  I found this one while searching for a great story to bring you.  When I discovered it I thought it was worth sharing even though it happened several years ago.  It is never too late for good news.  Here is the story of a boy that was put up for adoption as a baby.  He so wanted to find his birth mother and be reunited that he had been searching for four years.  One day he discovered that he was misspelling her name.  When he corrected the error he discovered that there was a woman with that name in his town.  He was tellng a coworker that her name was Tallady not Talladine.  The coworker said. “Like Chris Tallady that works upfront?”.  It turns out that the woman he had been searching for was the head cashier at the store they both worked at.  The adoption agency agreed to break the news to Chris telling her that a coworker named Steve was the son that she had given up for adoption so many years ago She had been hoping for a long time that someday she would get a call out of the blue that her son had found her.   So she asked the manager to check the files for the birthdate.  For 8 months they had worked together not knowing they were mother and son.   What a wonderful surprise for both them.  Now they have a chance to become real family.
