African Lion Kisses Rescuer

When you come across a lion, most people know to stay away.  But, not a woman in Columbia.  I remember seeing this news clip a while back and I was amazed by it, so when Dick C. recommended it for one of our ALGN posts, I was excited to share it with our ALGN subscribers (for those who haven’t seen it…and for those who have, but will be touched and amazed by it a second time).  This Lion, “The King of the Jungle”, hugs and kisses this woman every single time she comes by.  A few years earlier, she found a completely malnourished lion and she nursed him back to full strength.  After doing so, she turned him into an animal sanctuary.  To everyone else that comes by to see him, this lion is one of the most feared animals they will ever see.  But, to this woman, the lion is a friend.  He remembers her and wants to show his gratitude to her every time she comes around.  What a great video.  Today’s video is one of our shortest ones (just 40 seconds long).  Please watch it and share it with your friends.  You will be glad you did!!

Dog Saves Baby From Drowning at Beach

Dog Lovers…and soon to be Dog Lovers!!  This week’s “pet post of the week” is another great one!!  A family dog was having a wonderful time at the Beach in Turkey with its owners. They were playing fetch.  All of a sudden, the dog quit playing.  Why?  Because the family’s baby had been crawling (unnoticed towards the ocean).  The dog noticed this before anyone else did and ran to the ocean and laid down in front of the baby, putting himself between the baby and the waves that were coming to shore.  Others were filming this and caught the whole thing on camera, including the mother running to scoop the baby up (after their dog had abruptly left playing fetch and led them right to the baby — the reason that the dog quit playing).  I LOVE hero stories, but when they come in the form of a family pet, sensing danger and doing something incredible and heroic like this, it is even more impressive.  How can ANYONE not agree that a Dog is Man’s (and BABY’S) best friend??  A big thank you to Winklett (one of our “GoodNewsians”) for sending this story in to us!!  It is a great one and we are sure you will agree.  Watch…and share it with all of your animal loving friends!!  In fact, share it with those friends of yours who DON’T like animals and show them why they should!!

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Dog Alerts Parents of Babysitter Abusing Baby

If there is one person that a parent has to put a lot of trust in, it is their babysitter.  Good Morning!!  We don’t typically do our “animal” post of the week on a Monday, but this story needs to be shared!!  This was just on the news last week.  After moving to Charleston last year, a couple hired a 21 year old babysitter (after doing a lot of interviewing and checking her background out).  However, after a few months, they noticed that their dog was very defensive of their son when the babysitter came over.  Their son was only 7 months old when they hired this person to be his babysitter.  The mom suggested to her husband that they hide an iPhone under the couch and listen to what happened while they were gone.  They were sick to hear how their babysitter had been treating their son while they were gone.  Watch today’s post and you will be even more impressed with how wonderful our pets are.  This wonderful dog may have saved their son’s life (as the parents say that they would not have otherwise had any reason to believe that their babysitter wasn’t doing her job the way they had expected.  Also, thanks to the dog, you will see what happened to the babysitter, as well!!  ENJOY!!  And then go hug a dog!!!

Hero Dogs of 9/11

Since yesterday was 9/11, we decided to have this week’s animal post be about the hero dogs of 9/11.  We came across this video when we were searching for the post we put up yesterday (on the anniversary of 9/11) and decided that it would be the perfect one to show for our animal post of the week.  We were unaware of the documentary that they did about the hero dogs, but today’s video is a promo for that show.  It will make you feel great about not only the hero dogs of 9/11, but most all dogs.  They just want to please us and help us.  I think that makes them ALL “hero dogs”, in a sense.  I had no idea that over 300 of those that helped after the tragedy were DOGS!!  WOW!! Amazing!!  They did such an amazing job, including helping to find the last survivor (27 hours after the tragedy)!  I know some of you may feel that you saw your fill of 9/11 videos yesterday, but I was touched by the story of these great dogs and what they did to help.  Now, go give your own “hero dogs” a hug tonight!!

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Beautiful Dog Rescue

Do you want to see a BEAUTIFUL dog rescue?  As you know, every week, we have been having one day be an animal video.  Usually, they are wonderful pet and owner reunions or where an animal (usually, a dog) saves someone’s life.  But, today, we decided to do it a little differently.  Instead of a beautiful story about a dog rescuing a person, today we have a story of a dog rescue, but it is the PEOPLE doing the rescuing of a poor, scared blind, flea infested dog.  It is a touching video.  God bless the people who spend their time doing one dog rescue after another, saving these wonderful animals who just want to love and protect their owner or family.  You may have seen this video before (it is a little over a year old), but we, at “ALittleGoodNews.com” thought it was too good to NOT show it.  We have gotten tremendous feedback about some of our animal posts, where they are saving humans.  So, today, we wanted to turn the tables a little bit and show people doing a dog rescue instead of a dog doing a person rescue.

And, before I wrap up this post for the day, I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my oldest daughter, Colette.  She is a LOT of good news in MY life!!   She is also one of our most helpful contributors of great content for ALGN!

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Man’s Final Wish to be Reunited with Dog

How many people get to have their final wish granted?  Were you looking forward to our weekly “pet” post for “ALittleGoodNews.com”?  If so, today is your lucky day.  Even if you are not a big pet lover, I think you will LOVE seeing how this man’s former pet dog (Yert) came back to make his final wish come true.  She stayed with him in his last days in hospice.  As the video points out, this wonderful pet was there for her former owner, even in death.  We dare you to watch this video and try to not be touched by how much love our pets can bring (and how much love they HAVE for their owners).  I’m sure that Yert helped her owner (a homeless man) have his final wish granted and die with a much bigger smile on his face, but you can tell by the pictures that it was also a wonderful time for Yert, as well.  Doesn’t this video make you want to go give your pet a hug today?

Dog Leads Police to Burning Home

It’s the last day of the week and we haven’t had “ALittleGoodNews.com” post about a heroic pet yet.  So, TODAY IS THE DAY!!!  You get to see how a dog leads police to a burning home.  This happened in Alaska in the pitch black and the trooper was lost.  But, this wonderful dog leads police on a long route and takes them right there.  Although this is a bit of an older story (from the “Ellen” Show), it is simply too good not to use as our “pet” post of the week.  What an impressive animal.  As you watch this clip, those of you who are old enough to remember are going to think that we have a real life “Lassie” on our hands.  Ellen points out that, first, the dog leads police there…and then, he goes back and leads firetrucks, as well.  Please watch.  It will be a fun way for you to end your week (and make you want to go give your pet a hug)!!

Dog and Owner Saved Two Little Girls

WOW!!  In today’s post from “ALittleGoodNews.com”, we see how a dog and his owner saved two little girls from certain death in an icy Canadian River.  Once again, “ALGN” (A Little Good News) proves that dogs really are man’s best friend.  The story of how this man and his pet saved two little girls is a great one.  The owner runs down to the dangerous icy river and pulls one girl to safety, while his amazing pet dog dives in and swims out to the other girl’s sister and brings her safely back to shore, amid a swift and icy current that had her traveling at a much faster pace down the river.  The quick action of both this man and his dog is what saved two little girls.  With the water temperature, even if they did not drown, they would have died very quickly.

When I first started “ALittleGoodNews.com”, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to have a “Good News” pet story every week.  However, so far, it has not only been possible, but our site’s subscribers have LOVED each pet story.  I’ll bet every dog owner that sees this post is going to give his or her pet an extra hug tonight!!

Military Reunions with “Man’s Best Friends”

Most of us have a soft spot in our hearts for those who protect us by serving in the military.  We also have a soft spot in our hearts for our pets.  So, we at “ALittleGoodNews” decided to have today’s post be a combination of those two things.  Watch this montage of wonderful reunions for some dogs who finally got to see their owners, returning from their service in the armed forces after being away for months on end.  We hope you like it.  We sure did!!

“Random Acts of Kindness” — A Musical Montage

I really like today’s post (okay..I admit that I like ALL of the posts).  Someone put together a montage of all kinds of photos of people all across the world, performing random acts of kindness and then put it to music.  It is a little bit longer than our usual video posts (at about 5 1/2 minutes), but I PROMISE you that you will feel that it was time very well spent.  Very inspiring acts by every day people!!  Let’s be one of them!!
