He Will Care for Her Forever

What is love?   This video is all about love.  The love between a man and woman. Not just the physical attraction of two people loving each other when it is easy but to love each other when it is not.  He is dedicated to her through this horrible disease.  Alheimer’s can take her away mentally but it can’t change how he thinks and cares for her.  He spends every waking moment doing everything for her and he does not feel that it is a burden. No he says it is a privilege.  What a wonderful man.  This year they will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.  He will be there by her side even if she is not quite the person he married.  He takes his vows seriously. In sickness and in health.  He will care for her as long as he needs to.  He remembers how they used to love to ride bikes when they were young.  So he created a chair bike that would allow him to take her out and give her a ride.  What a joyous sight to watch them enjoy the time outside.  He is determined to care for her every need for as long as it takes.  She is his princess and he is her William. He said he would not have it any other way.  What a wonderful man.  Happy Anniversary you two.

Captain Jack Visits Children’s Hospital

Say what you want about celebrities and how they do the craziest things but here is a story I am proud to share.  Johnny  Depp can be a little crazy at times.  Recently while he was filming the next movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean he took time out of filming to stop by and visit a children’s hospital.  This is not the first time he has done this type of thing. He makes the time to see children and adults who are going through difficult times and bring a little joy in their lives.  Watch this video and see the reaction of patients and even the staff of this hospital.  The pure joy of the children meeting Captain Jack Sparrow.  Johnny stays in character the whole time which delights the kids and adults as well. This has given me a new fond respect for Johnny Depp and his team from the movie.  Thank you Captain Jack.  You really made a special day for these kids that are going through so much.  They will never forget this day and it will help them remember something awesome when they might be having a bad day.  You are the best.

Roadside Rescue

A semi was parked on the side of the road outside Underwood, Iowa.  As a State Trooper John Hitchcock approached what he found surprised him.  He discovered the driver was not breathing.  He pulled him out of the truck as Officer Kurt Ferguson approached coming to help.  They pulled the man out of the line of traffice and worked CPR on him.  Just then a third first responder arrived.  Captain Curtis McKeon from the Council Bluffs Fire Department arrived on the scene.  Not often is there a team from 3 different agencies to help on a rescue.  It turns out that the man had choked on something which blocked his airway and caused him to have the heart failure.  Had not these three men happened along this scene the outcome might be different.  Luckily for this driver they were trained and prepared to help bring this man back to life.  ”It is wonderful when there is a good outcome” one of the officers said.  I am sure there is not always a good result but by working together these men were able to save his life.  Thanks to their quick actions he will be ok.  Great job officers.  You are truly heroes.

Police Officer Attends Wedding of Baby He Saved

Officer Joe Barka has worked on the Yonkers Police Department for the past 45 years.  Recently Officer Joe was able to share the day with a baby he saved some 20 years ago.  Back in 1993 Officer Joe was called to house where a baby had stopped breathing.  Grabbing the baby from the parents the officer checked for vitals and finding none he jumps into his cruiser with his partner and heads to the hospital doing CPR the whole way.  When he met the parents at the hospital he was able to tell them that the baby crying that they heard was their little daughter.  Ever since, this officer has treated this little girl like one of his own.  He never forgets a birthday or even Christmas.  But now it was here time to remember.  She invited the officer and his wife to her wedding as a guest of honor.  Even though the family moved to Buffalo they have kept in touch.  What a wonderful relationship these people have. Without each other their lives would never be the same. Great job Officer Barka.

Community Helps Fallen Officer’s Family

On Friday, June 19, Cincinnati Police Officer Sonny Kim as shot on duty. By Monday afternoon, it seemed like two minutes didn’t pass without someone making a donation to Kim’s family. Some of the donors were from Cincinnati but other donations came from New York and as far away as Hawaii. “I’ve said when the chips are down Cincinnati steps up and we’ve certainly seen that. And I think it also speaks to the power of social media these days,” Bauman said. Bauman isn’t the only one stepping up. At Listermann Brewing Co., a dollar from every pint sold Thursday will be donated to the Kims. “It’s really not an if we can do something type of thing, it’s how we can do something type of thing,” said Jason Brewer, the sales manager at Listermann Brewing Co. Brewer said the owner’s son-in-law is a sheriff’s deputy who took karate lessons from Sonny Kim. Meanwhile, Derek Bauman said the generosity of the donations are touching but so are the messages people write for the family. “I will be forever grateful my thoughts and prayers are with your family. May the angels lead you in,” said Bauman as he read a message. As each hour passes, the number of donors and messages grows. “I wasn’t surprised because people care. And so this is an opportunity for them to show their support in our community, support for law enforcement and the Kim family and it’s amazing,” Bauman said. The Fraternal Order of Police set up an account for the Kims at the Cincinnati Police Credit Union. Go to  http://www.gofundme.com/sonnykim to check out the GoFundMe page. A neighbor of Sonny Kim’s who is a police officer wrote about him, his family and working as a police officer. Isn’t it wonderful when people step up in the time of tragedy.

Boy’s reaction to bullying

This is a story about some fifth graders and their friend.  You might think that boys that age would be tough on someone their age that might be alittle different from them.  Not these 5 boys.  They took it upon themselves to be the best friend to this boy.  James was adopted when he was just a baby and soon lost his new father in an accident.  He has had a tough life but these boys are now making his life better. They spend time with him.  They play with him and protect him from others who might tease him or try to hurt him.  They include him in activities and they even all banned together to get him a playstation and games. They are best friends and the boys are doing what they can to take care of their friend.  What a great lesson we can all learn from these young men.  They get as much joy out of doing things for James and James does receiving their love and attention.  This school had a program about bullying.  These boys are the best program to teach others about how not to bully.  Great job boys.  You boys can inspire all of us to be better friends and better people.

Child Care and the Elderly

This is a beautiful story.  Not many words.  You just watch and take it the joy these folks feel together.  In Seattle, a retirement home is also the home for a preschool.  Providence Mount St. Vincent is the home of more than 400 elderly residents.  While this building is mostly housing for the elderly it is also a location for a preschool.  Watching the preschoolers interact with the elderly is amazing.  Sometimes through words and sometimes just through touch.   They participate in similar activities and learn from eachother.  They love spending time together.  I think the elderly feel younger spending time with the preschoolers and the preschoolers learn and enjoy the interaction with the elderly patients.  43% of older people feel isolation and which relates to lonliness and depression. A program such as this one can only help not only the older patients but the little ones who learn how to relate to people and how to care for others.  They should have programs like this everywhere.  Wouldn’t it be great if they had one of these places in every large community.  Our elderly deserve a chance to make a difference in the lives of these little ones and what these little ones can learn from these “grandparents”.  It was wonderful to watch.

Stranger Buys Car for Single Mom

A struggling North Carolina mother got the surprise of a lifetime when a stranger bought her a car.  WLOS reports that Connie Cole recently called Carolina Auto Sales in Black Mountain in desperate need of a car. The mother of three had no way of realizing that a stranger overheard the conversation over the speakerphone. After the conversation ended, the stranger told the car lot owner to call him if the mother comes back. The stranger said he “heard something in her voice” and wanted to buy her the car. He said “the Lord” wanted him to do it. He asked the dealership to let him know if she came back.  When she returned to the car dealer with her father who provided the down payment of $800 she discovered that a stranger would be paying the remaining $2200.

The mother works at an Asheville sub shop. She said she will never forget him and that it “just means the Lord is out there.”

Humble Waitress Shows Another Random Act of Kindess

A humble waitress in a Fort Worth Texas restaurante decided to pay for grieving couple’s restaurant bill herself after finding out that their nine-week-old daughter had died. The waitress pays the grieving couple’s restaurant check herself after hearing they had lost their baby daughter just a month ago.

Kayla Lane was waiting on Shaun and Debbie Riddle as they dined at West Side Cafe in Forth Worth, Texas on Thursday afternoon and noticed their daughter, Glory, was not with them who she had seen the month before.  Kayla asked how the baby was doing and the customers told her that the baby had died.  When she learned of their loss. instead of giving them their bill she left note that read “Your ticket has been paid for. We are terribly sorry for your loss. God Bless” Lane said she made the random act of kindness to provide a helping hand to the family during a time of deep sorrow. Baby Glory did not wake up from a nap and passed away on May 4 at nine weeks old.  She does pay for meals for her customers on special occasions.  She also pays for military, police and fire fighters.  She just loves to give some sunshine to people who need it.  Thank you Kayla for being such a special person and a friend to strangers.

Seniors Give up Class Trip for Principal

A New Hampshire principal battling a rare cancer was brought to tears when her senior class unanimously decided to give up their senior class trip and donate nearly $8,000 to her medical care. Courtney Vashaw, principal of the Profile school for both junior and high school students in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, was diagnosed with a rare cancer of the soft tissue earlier this month. The senior class at the school surprised Vashaw on Tuesday with the news that they would donate the funds for their senior class trip for her treatment. What a wonderful group of young people who give up their class trip to help out their principal.  ”She’s just very caring, very selfless, and we wanted to be selfless, too,” Ian Baker, a senior at the school told ABC affiliate WMUR-TV.  She teaches the students that they need to do something bigger than they are.  It looks like they are listening.  They have done a good thing here.  How inspiring they all are. It is wonderful to see what great things young people can do for others.
