Nala is the best medicine

Today’s story is about an amazing pet and the joy he brings to all aound him. You have to watch this video as it will bring joy to your heart even if you aren’t a dog lover.  Nala is a worker.  She knows what to do. This black teacup poodle named Nala is making everyone smile at a nursing home in Minnesota. She scurries from room to room, even riding the elevator by herself, to see her friends. Nala knows all of the residents there at this senior care center.  Doug Dawson bring Nala to work but rarely sees her all day. Doug despenses medicine.  Nala despenses love.  Nala knows who she needs to see.  She has her own agenda and goes to who needs her.  She has never been trained as a therapy dog.  Doug knows that she is there for a purpose.  The residents think that heaven sent Nala to them. The sweet spirit of Nala is the true medicine these people need and crave.  What a wonderful gift she is to them.

A Note to the Needy

P.B. Jams in  sandwich shop in Warr Acres, Oklahoma owned by Ashley Jiron.  Recently Ashley noticed that someone had been going through the dumpster outside her restaurant.  She said that  it broke it heart that someone felt they had to dig through her trash for a meal. That’s when she decided to help out that stranger. She posted a note on her door inviting the person into the shop for a free meal.  It reads:  ”To the person going through our trash for their next meal.  You’re a human being and worth more than a meal from a dumpster.  Please come in during operating hours for a classic PB&J, fresh veggies, and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked.” “I think we’ve all been in that position where we needed someone’s help and we just needed someone to extend that hand and if I can be that one person to extend that hand to another human being then I will definitely do it,” Ashley told KFOR.  She says she will not take down the sign until they come in.  She is not sure that they will come in out of pride but she really wants to help them out. Thanks to Sharon A for sharing this story with us.

Eugene Police officer helps family

Eugene Police officer David Natt was working his beat recently when he noticed a car still in the parking lot of a public park at closing time.  Coming up to the car he finds a family of four who had no where to go.  It seems tht the family was moving back to Eugene and not having anywhere to go was intending to sleep in their car. The Woods family was moving back to the area and didn’t have a place to go or the funds to stay at a hotel.  But rather than kicking them out, he offers to put them up in a hotel for two nights. You see a local church had put together a fund that the police could use at their discretion.  This was one of those times.  Officer Natt wanted to help this family  He mentions his motto “Protect, Serve and Care”.  ”He made me want to do this for other” says Robert Wood.  He didn’t think people would still do things like this for others.  This fund came from a local church who decided rather than spend the money last Christmas on themselves they would donate to this fund.  So far the fund has not run out and the police have been able to use it when they need it.

This Grandma is a huge help

Emily Jordan and her husband always wanted to have the same thing that every couple wants, to start a family.  As they made plans something terrible was discovered.  Emily found out that she had cervical cancer at a young age facing a radical hysterecomy.  Emily Jordan underwent that  radical hysterectomy in 2010. She thought she and her husband would never have their own children.  The doctors were able to save ovaries. Then her mother made a surprising offer. She offered to carry their baby for them.  Who would ever imagine a 50+ year old being able to carry a child with no problems.  She was very healthy so they said it would be possible for her to do this. It was the most wonderful gift that she could give her daughter and her husband.  The love they have for this little baby is the most important thing for this Grandma.  She knows that her role in this was to deliver a healthy baby and to be the best grandma she could be. She said that this was not hard that she would even offer to do it again.  Now the fun time of spoiling this little one. Great job Grandma. Thank you to Patricia M for bringing us this story.

Easter Angel from Florida

I know Easter was a while ago but I couldn’t miss sharing this story of an amazing woman.  Lee Hardy of Palmeto Florida works all year to prepare for Easter.  She works hard to collect items to personally create Easter baskets. She makes 700 handmade Easter baskets and delivers them from right outside of her living room. She loves Easter and it’s message and loves giving.  She saves for this buying items herself by putting aside $20 a week all year long.  She gets help filling the baskets from her kids and grandkids.  She makes baskets for boys with balls and for girls with coloring books and baby dolls.   She thinks about each and every basket to make it special for the children.  She even gets toothbrushes from her local dentist to add to each of the baskets.  She sits outside her door and hands out each and every basket personally.  The neighbors say they still believe in the Easter Bunny (Lee).  How could you not believe when you meet a wonderful woman like Lee.  She is one amazing lady.

Easter Baskets for the Community

Easter is a time for families and friends.  This video says it all (without words) when the employees from UnitedHealthcare and UnitedHealthcare mascot Dr. Health E. Hound prepared more than 700 Easter baskets at UnitedHealthcare’s Cypress, Calif., campus and loaded them into a specially decorated truck for delivery to three nonprofits. The Boys & Girls Club of Cypress, the San Clemente Military Family Outreach and Olive Crest in Bellflower received the Easter baskets packed with goodies for kids ages 4-12. This is the tenth year that employees at the Cypress, Santa Ana and Irvine locations participate in the Easter basket drive (Video: Kevin Herglotz). How awesome for these folks to take their time and money to create these baskets for children in the community.  This is what Easter is all about.  Doing for others and sharing the love of Christ with others around you.  700 baskets… how long does it take to fill 700 baskets?  Maybe next year you and your friends can put together some for your community.  Do for others anyway you can.

Family at the Firehouse

This story is about engine company #1 from Lansing Michigan.  This story is not about fighting fires.  This story is about family.  Tony has been coming to the firehouse since he was 13.  He doesn’t live there and he doesn’t work there but he is there for everything else.  He came to the firehouse when he was young and asked to stay.  Now everyone in the firehouse thinks of Tony as family.  They take care of him just like he belongs there.  They do his laundry, cook for him, even help bathe him.  He is truly family to them.   They all love Tony and he loves them.  They tell him that he will always have a place there at the firehouse.  This is how we should treat our family but isn’t amazing that men have taken in this an and made him “family”.   These firemen are so inspiring.  What a great group of people.

New Citizen Waitress gets great tip

Megan Asadi is a single mom who was a refugee from Iran.  She loves this country so much that she just recently became a citizen.  As a single mom she works at a local restaurant in Herndon, Virginia.  On this day a group of people came in to have lunch together.  The groupl does this quite often and calls it a “tip Bomb”.  After their lunch and check of $128 they left their tip.  On this day their tip was $1200.  They told the owner that they wanted to make sure that she saw their tip on the table.  She was quite surprised.  It sounds like she is a wonderful waitress and well liked at this restaurant.  What a great thing for this group to do.  We should always treat people with respect and care for them in whatever way we can.  Not all of us can give a tip of this size but to treat people with caring and love is the way to be.  Thanks to this secret group of diners.  Keep doing what you do.  Thank you to Patricia M for suggesting this story.

Amazing Teacher gets surprise on Ellen

A kindergarten teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico went to the Ellen show.  She thought she was just there to enjoy the show.  That was until Ellen called out her name.  Sonya Romero was being recognized by Ellen for her actions.   She spends the first hour of each day making sure her students have had breakfast, are wearing clean clothes and have brushed their teeth.  She feels like teachers are like “first responders” caring for their students. She tells about two students that needed help when Child Protective Services came to the school.  They had no where to go so she took in the children and they are still with her for six months now.  She has taken these children into her home as foster children.  Her students love her so much they sent her a video message of how much she means to them.  She spends her own money to buy things for her students and for her school.  Ellen even heard that a good samartan gave her $100 to help with the kids but she gave it to a lady that she met on the beach that was crying and needed help.  Ellen then let’s her know that she is giving her $10,000 to help with the kids and that Target was giving her school $10,000 also.  Way to go Sonya.  Thisis the kind of teacher our kids need.

Rescue for two strays

Here is a video  from an organization called Hope for Paws.  They were called by some people who noticed these two dogs living on the street for over a month.  They worked hard to help the dog not be afraid and allow them to come close. These folks took their time to show the dog that they were there to help.  They focussed on the one as the other watched from a distance.  This rescue took some time but they were finally able to get a leash on the dog.  This dog probably never had a leash on so again they started over to regain her trust.  Finally they were able to get the dog to allow them to pick up the dog.  They next focussed on the little dog to corner this one and gain his trust.  Finally they got both dogs home to bath, feed and help them know that someone cares.  This group does this to help stays find a forever home.  Thanks to people like these to help dogs trust again.
