Amazing Found Dog Story

This dog and her owner were in a bad traffic accident in the desert back in June.  Volunteers have been looking for the dog for the last 65 days.  They had an idea that the dog was in a certain area so they set a trap to bring her home.  Rose Sherman thought she would never see her sweet Ily ever again.  During the accident Ily ran off scared after the crash.  A group of volunteers watched the cage and listened on a baby monitor for the dog to wander in.  Finally she came by and they were able to trap the dog so that they could bring her home to her family.  Ily had avoided all human contact until she was reunited with Rose.  What a wonderful reunion it was.  Rose thought she might never see her faithful dog again.  Rose is still recuperating from her injuries she sustained in the accident.  Ily had missed a few meals but for being in the desert for 65 days she looks extremely well and is very glad to be back home with Rose.  What an amazing reunion.

Babies and Dogs- What could be cuter?

What is better than babies laughing…  Babies and dogs. I selected this video today that really doesn’t have a story attached to it.  It is not news.  It is just cute.  Everyone needs something just cute once in a while. There are too many aweful things on the news and in our daily lives.  Why not just take just under 4 minutes and watch the cuteness of babies laughing at puppies.  It would keep us all younger if we could just laugh like these little ones.  Laughing is so good for you.  So, just take some time and laugh.  Laugh when you can.  It will keep you young.  Share it with those you love.

Sheba Comes to America with Her Pups

Operation Puppy Rescue.  This is a story of a liter of pups and a bunch of soldiers in Afganistan.  It seems that these soldiers foung Sheba and she kind of adopted them.  Sheba then gave birth to a liter of puppies. These soldiers even went so far as to share their food with the dog and her pups.  They wouldn’t have made it without the soldiers. They cared for these puppies like their own.  When it came time for this group of soldiers to head home they wanted to bring these puppies home with them.  That is where Edwin Caba went to work with Guardians of Rescue.  They helped arrange with the help of some generous donations to ship the dogs from Afganistan to the New York.  These dogs gave Sgt.. Caba and his unit a sense of normalcy that they would not have had without them.  After the dogs arrived Candace (Sgt. Caba’s dog) went home to meet his other dog.  He said they are getting along fine.  They are perfect friends.  How great that a pet can help these men come back to their lives.  Thank you gentlemen for your service and to the your pets.  Glad you guys are together again.

Still Man’s Best Friend

This may be a commercial for Pedigree dog food yet it tells an amazing story.  A story about man’s best friend.  This is a wonderful story of two men who having made some bad choices in their lives, served their time and when getting out of prison needed to straighten their lives out.  Finding themselves alone they looked to a pet to help them get their lives figured out.  Matt and Joey served their time and once released they looked for a way to start their lives over.  They started by adopting a dog for a companion.  Adopting the dogs end up boosting their self-esteem and helping to ease their reintegration into society.  This program is called First Days Out.  This time was very hard for them.  Changes that happened while they were in prison was shocking as they returned home.  After adopting the dog they were able to care for something that helped them start over.  Both men were able to get started over with a job and with people again.  This is a great program to help men like these but also help the pets that become their families.

Unusual Runner Joins the Race

On May 15, 2011, the Maryland Half Marathon had an unusual and unexpected competitor – a four-legged canine named Dozer. E:60 takes you to the course and reveals how Dozer reached the finish line and bested thousands of runners.  Dozer, a Goldendoodle watched as the race passed by his house.  He usually has an electric fence that keeps him in his yard but on this day the fence is not working due to a power outage.  So when the group of 2000 runners started coming by Dozer joined in.  He ended up not only running the remainder 8 miles but then back home.  The race was to raise money for the local cancer center.  They set up a fund raising page for Dozer and within hours he raised almost $45,000. Dozer raised more money than any other competitor in the race. It was great to see how people react to this dog joining the race.  How wonderful for Dozer to be able to help raise money for the Cancer center.   Thanks to Tammy H for sharing this story.  Are you up for a marathon?  Not all of us are but when you see friends who are and they need a sponsor to help a cause like the cancer center.. step up. Join the group and make a difference like Dozer did.

Purrrfect Place for a Cat

Our weekly pet story takes us to special house.  This house is being customized by Greg Krueger for his pets.  His special pet cats. He has created many overhead catwalks and passageways.  He says he just loves trails and paths.  That is why he has been working on this for the last 15 years.  He has Aspergers Syndrome.  His passion and his condition work together to bring him joy in continually creating this home for his cats.  He puts a very detailed craftsmanship into this passion.  He relates to his cats and they to him.  It is wonderful to see a man enjoy his pets so much that he will spend so much time to make their home a special one.  People like Greg may not relate to other people as well as they do to pets.  After all how many people think of their pets as another member of their family.  He says he may just never finish. He keeps thinking of new things to add.  I am so glad that Greg has his cats.  Everyone needs something to care for.  Do you know someone who needs a pet to share their love?  Tell them about Greg and his cats.  Visit a local shelter and take a pet home.

Doggy Decorating

The holiday season is full swing.  We are all running around shopping, decorating, baking and celebrating.   We have a short amount of time to get everything done.  Can you use help getting your decorating done?  This cute little video is just there to help pick up your spririts and get you through the holidays.  What a fun video.  It just makes you wonder sometimes just what the pets are up to when we are not around.  Sometimes we just need to take a few minutes to stop and just enjoy some fun.  Wouldn’t it be great if we could train our pets to help out around the house?  Anyway,  don’t let the holidays get you down.  Enjoy these fun days of preparation and celebration.   It will all be over way too soon.  Share this fun video with all your family and friends.  Merry Christmas to all.

15 Year Old Saves Horses from Burning Barn

Today’s post was brought to us by Davilyn F.  Thank you for bringing us this story.  So far it seems that this week our stories are all about young heroes.  This story is from a while ago.  It is a story of 15 year old Madison Wallraf who loves horses.   One day the barn that holds the horses caught fire.  Disregarding the warning from her grandfather, she runs into the burning barn many times to release the horses from their stalls and to lead them to safety.  The smoke was so bad at one point that she had to crawl into the barn to get to the horses.  She was able to save many with no regard to her own safety.  Running into a burning building in hopes of saving someone  or something is hard.  Imagine the courage it takes to return to the smoke and flames time and time again to save more.  She did everything she could.  What an amazing young woman.

Have you seen a great story that you would like us to share?  Please send me a private message or email me at alittlegoodnewsmail@gmail.com. We all need A Little Good News each day.

Unbelievable Reunion after 7 years

Our story today is about a pet reunion.  Well not just a pet but a member of the family.  I am sure many of you think of your pets as a member of the family. Thanks to Tim M for bringing us this wonderful reunion story.

This family had a tragedy 7 years ago that separated the Hartmans from their beloved pet Buddy.  About 7 years ago there were some wildfires in the San Diego area.  The Hartmans lost their home and pretty much everything in the Ramona wildfire.  But they still had Buddy.  Then they went to stay with some friends in El Cajon after the fire.  While staying there Buddy jumped the fence and ran away.  They searched everywhere but no sign of Buddy.  Now Buddy had been implanted with a microchip, so they were sure he would be found.  They searched and searched in hopes of a reunion.   The family has since relocated to Oklahoma but still thought about Buddy often.  Recently on a return visit to the San Diego area they got a call the very day they arrived that Buddy had been found.  Now 7 years late,r with the help of the microchip, they were able to identify Buddy as their dog and got the reunion they had so long awaited.  San Diego County animal service was able to reunite the family once again.

The Hartmans will tell you that if you can, please get a microchip for your pet so you too can have a reunion if you get separated.  The San Diego County animal services offers this for only $10.  Check with a County animal service department near you.
