Teen finds wallet and returns it.

Here is a short video with a great story.  A young man found a wallet that contained $2300.  His family was struggling with expenses but he never considered keeping the money. He turned it in right away to his school officials.  The wallet was claimed by a veteran who had lost his wallet.  The boys family was so proud of him for being doing the right thing.  When his mother sent him a text telling her how proud she was of him his reply was “You should be thanking yourself, you raised me”.  See when (as a parent) you are never really sure if they hear you and understand your lessons then you see something like this and realize, they are getting it.  Great job Mom and Dad for teaching this young man right from wrong and how to do the right thing.  AND thank you Tommy for thinking of others and doing the right thing.  Also, thanks to the vet who did reward Tommy.  BTW – I am sorry, but this video does not stop at the end of this story but continues on with a weather report from a local station. We could not edit this so just accept my apologies for this at the end of this great story.

A Mom’s Take on a Great Song

Today’s video is not news and after you hear it you will know that this song will not be “news” to any mom.  This song tells life like it is. This is a mom’s look at a great tune.  To all you moms out there you can relate.  This lady has a beautiful voice and took a very beautiful song and rewrote the words to reflect the feelings of every new mom.  Hope you enjoy the words and watching the little boy as he enjoys his mother’s voice.

Humble Waitress Shows Another Random Act of Kindess

A humble waitress in a Fort Worth Texas restaurante decided to pay for grieving couple’s restaurant bill herself after finding out that their nine-week-old daughter had died. The waitress pays the grieving couple’s restaurant check herself after hearing they had lost their baby daughter just a month ago.

Kayla Lane was waiting on Shaun and Debbie Riddle as they dined at West Side Cafe in Forth Worth, Texas on Thursday afternoon and noticed their daughter, Glory, was not with them who she had seen the month before.  Kayla asked how the baby was doing and the customers told her that the baby had died.  When she learned of their loss. instead of giving them their bill she left note that read “Your ticket has been paid for. We are terribly sorry for your loss. God Bless” Lane said she made the random act of kindness to provide a helping hand to the family during a time of deep sorrow. Baby Glory did not wake up from a nap and passed away on May 4 at nine weeks old.  She does pay for meals for her customers on special occasions.  She also pays for military, police and fire fighters.  She just loves to give some sunshine to people who need it.  Thank you Kayla for being such a special person and a friend to strangers.

NFL Team Does the Right Thing

Are you ready for some football?  It is that time again when we all huddle around the TV to watch our favorite teams play football.  I can’t say that my team is the Cincinatti Bengals but I have a new found respect for that team.  This week it was announced that they needed to trim their roster so they cut defensive tackle Devon Still.  Shortly Still received word that they were reinstating him to the practice squad with pay and insurance.  This comes as great news to him as his 4 year old daughter Leah was diagnosed in June with pediatric cancer. Understandably since then he has not been able to devote 100% to the game. “They could have washed their hands with me and said they didn’t care about what I was going through off the field,” Still said.  ”It’s like a blessing in disguise for me”.  He will be able to travel less and spend more time with Leah during her treatments. Way to go Bengals!!  This is the way all companies should treat their employees.  Caring for them like family instead of employees.  Classy move!!

A Tale of Two Friends

Here is a wonderful video of two unlikely friends.   Tory Island is very small and quaint little village on an island but they have one thing that sets them apart from others.  They have a Labrador who has an interesting friendship.  Dougie the Dolphin comes most days to play with local hotel’s pet Labrador.  The Labrador stays and plays until the dolphin heads back out to sea.  In this short video we get to see a little glimpse of their friendship.   What an amazing thing that happens between these two very unlikely friends.  We humans could take a lesson from these two.  It is sometimes a challenge to step out of your comfort area to spend time in someone else’s.  Who knows how the two met and became such friends. You just wonder what brought the two toeger for the first time.  And what makes him continue to return.  Makes you want to be able to read minds and know what they are thinking as they play together.  It is so sweet and touching.  Please enjoy and share with others.  Thanks to Patricia M for showing us this great story of friends.

Dads Can’t – A Father’s Day Message

Here is another video preparing us for Father’s Day. It sounds bad with the title Dads can’t.  That is until you watch this to see why Dads can’t.  This  message  is a delightful little video that comes to us from down under (at least I think so by the accent).  It was created by a company called visionfudge.  Her cute little voice tells us the love she has for her Dad.  It is so cute how this little girl tells of all the things that “Dad’s can’t do” … like  winning races with kids, playing hide and seek and others.   She says “It’s amazing they can get through life at all”.  Her examples remind us of how our little ones see us.  They are so innocent and they count on us to be there for them.  Thanks to all those Dads out there who play hide and seek and who take kids fishing and who lose at cards just to see the smiles on those little faces.  Also remember all those father figures who may not be your dad but also contributed to your growth.  Have a great Father’s Day.

Lost Wallet Returned to New Mother

Here is a story about a  new mother and how one good turn deserves another.  This is a story about doing something nice for others and paying it forward.  I love these stories where people receive kindness from others and that brings them to do something for someone else.  This time Nicole Parizo had lost her wallet just days after having a baby.  She figured she would never see it again.   One day she got a call from a man asked her if she had recently returned something to Target.  She said she had and that is when he told her that he had just received a birthday gift and found her wallet in the backpack he received.  She was so happy to get it back.  A couple days later when she was shopping again she looked in her wallet and found $150 with a note from the man.  He said she probably needed this money for her new baby.  He only asked the new mother that she “pay it forward” by doing something nice for someone else.   A week later Nicole came across a bone marrow drive for a man from Concord so she was tested to be a donor.    I just love it when people do things for others and never expect anything in return.  You too can be a donor.  Get tested and help someone in need.

A Little Good News: Special Veteran’s Day Edition

Happy Veteran’s Day!!  We already had a “regular” ALGN post this morning, but we, at A Little Good News, want to take the time to recognize the REAL heroes of our great country.  This country would be NOTHING without all of our amazing veterans, who, through all of the years, have put their own lives at risk so that they could protect our lives and our rights.  We recognize heroes all the time on our site.  But, our favorite heroes are our country’s heroes.  THANK YOU, VETERANS!!!  This country can never repay all you have done for us!!  You are the BEST!!!

Today’s Special Veteran’s Day Post is the first “repeat” post we have ever had.  We did this post back in July, but we loved it so much that we wanted to use it for our Veteran’s Day post, as well!  It is a musical compilation of a number of Surprise Homecomings of our heroes in the armed forces as they come home to their families.  To all of our subscribers, please share this post………and hug a Veteran today!!  They deserve all the praise and gratitude and recognition that we can possibly give them.

Now…Go have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Meet Malala Yousafzai – Muslim Miracle Girl

You are going to want to learn more about Malala Yousafzai immediately after watching this piece by ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.  Malala is an amazing young (16 year old) Muslim girl who was the youngest nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.  Just last year, the Taliban attempted to murder her at point blank range as she sat on a school bus.  This happened because for a few years, she had been standing up for the rights for girls to get an education.  The Taliban had enough and decided that it was time to kill Malala, an innocent little unarmed girl.  This video doesn’t tell the story behind why she was shot and continues to be a target to this day.  But, it does focus on the miracle of how Malala survived.  You will see that God was watching over her in an amazing way.  What courage she had then, to say, “I am Malala” (the name of a book about her that just came out) and what courage she still shows today as she carries her message forward, fighting for the right for all girls to get an education.  This young woman is a HERO, indeed!!

A Billboard That Produces Drinking Water!!

I’ve seen a lot of billboards in my day, but this is the first time I have ever seen a billboard that produces drinking water!!  In one quick minute, this became my all-time favorite billboard!!  What an incredibly wonderful idea.  Supposedly, it cost just over $1,000 to create and it is a huge win for the people in this area near Lima, Peru — where many people have been struggling to find drinking water.  Although the weather is often hot and the need for water is great, they have 98% humidity there, so a technical school came up with the idea of capturing the water in the air and using a reverse osmosis system to turn it into good drinking water.  This single billboard is now able to produce enough water for hundreds of families per month…all from water that is in the air already.  A billboard that produces drinking water in an area that has very little of it.  Who would have thought that this was possible.  These kinds of stories make me feel great about what we can do when we put our minds to it.  At the end of the video, I was at first a little bothered by a young boy pouring the water over himself (I was thinking, “don’t waste it!”).  But, maybe, it is now producing so much water that kids can have some fun with it, too!!  Just think what this idea could do if we built a billboard that produces drinking water in every area where there was little good water, but lots of humidity!!  I love seeing PEOPLE HELPING OTHER PEOPLE!!

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!
