A Couple Adopts A Family of Babies

The Justices spent more than 3 years trying to have a baby.  After contemplating expensive fertility treatments, they decided to adopt. After they met the birth mother and planned the adoption, the story took an unexpected turn. “We went to a meeting where she had an ultrasound and found there was not one baby but three babies,” said adoptive parent Amy Justice. Instead of adopting just one child, the Justices were adopting three. Hannah, Joel and Elizabeth were born in May. Then they were thrown another curveball. A week after the triplets were born, Amy found out she was pregnant with not one, but two babies. A boy and girl are due in January. They say they are excited, but also say that “God has a great sense of humor.” How wonderful that this couple that wanted a family could welcome not only one baby but in the end they have a family of 5.

92 year old adopts 76 year old as daughter

At age 92, Muriel Clayton is a mother again, having adopted the woman who’s been her “daughter” for more than six decades. Just not officially. Mary Smith, who’s now 76, knew Muriel as her fun older cousin as she was growing up, but family tragedy changed the dynamic. After he father passed away and her mother was ill and not able to care for her, Muriel took in Mary and she has been there ever since. ”I wanted her to be mine,” said Clayton.  She has always wanted to adopt her.  Out of respect, she wouldn’t adopt her until Smith’s biological mother, who had been ill for years, passed away.  June 9, inside Dallas County Court, they formally became mother and daughter. Now the record will show what Muriel Clayton has known in her heart all along. She has always known in her heart that they were mother and daughter but now it is official.  It is never too late to add to your family. What a beautiful family they make.

Police Detective Takes Care of Foster Kids

Jack Mook is a Pittsburgh police detective.  He is a bachelor and quite a tough character.  He spends most of his time working hard.  He loves to box and even volunteers at the Steel City Boxing Gym.  He teaches the sport to street kids, most of them born into poverty.  He met 11 year old Jess and his 15 year old brother Josh there at the gym.  They like each other and worked well with Jack.  That is why he was concerned when they stopped showing up at the gym.  Jack went out looking for them and found the older brother.  He looked bad. He told Jack that he was in a bad way.  They had foster parents that were abusive and negectful.  So Jack got the kids placed in a new home…his.  He has been their foster parent for over two years now.  He says the homework is really hard.  He loves being their foster day.  That was until this past September… he adopted them.  They couldn’t be happier.  It is the best thing that could have happend to all of them.  Way to go Officer Mook.  Way to see a problem and find a solution.  Maybe not the easiest solution but one that you knew was right.

19 Year Old Finds His Forever Family

This is a story of a young boy who never gave up on his dream to have a family.  Seth Miller was in and out of foster homes since he was a toddler. Once he was adopted and then fell out of that adoption. He continued in and out of foster homes until he aged out of the foster care system and ended up homeless – living in a car. He always wished for a family.  One day a TV news team  wrote a story on Foster care and helped him find his biological sister and her adoptive family.  This family took him in and during this past Thankgiving they became a family and he took their name.  He is now known as Logan Hunt.  They went one year after he moved in with the family and went to court to make it legal.  At the age of 19 the boy who never gave up obtained his dream to be a part of a family.  What a wonderful family to accept this boy and take him in as one of their own.  Welcome Home Logan.

Mother and Son Reunited

I need to tell you that this is not a current story.  I found this one while searching for a great story to bring you.  When I discovered it I thought it was worth sharing even though it happened several years ago.  It is never too late for good news.  Here is the story of a boy that was put up for adoption as a baby.  He so wanted to find his birth mother and be reunited that he had been searching for four years.  One day he discovered that he was misspelling her name.  When he corrected the error he discovered that there was a woman with that name in his town.  He was tellng a coworker that her name was Tallady not Talladine.  The coworker said. “Like Chris Tallady that works upfront?”.  It turns out that the woman he had been searching for was the head cashier at the store they both worked at.  The adoption agency agreed to break the news to Chris telling her that a coworker named Steve was the son that she had given up for adoption so many years ago She had been hoping for a long time that someday she would get a call out of the blue that her son had found her.   So she asked the manager to check the files for the birthdate.  For 8 months they had worked together not knowing they were mother and son.   What a wonderful surprise for both them.  Now they have a chance to become real family.

Adoption Success Surprises Reporter

Thank you to Aubrey D. who brought us this story  about adoption which originates from Dallas/Fort Worth Channel WFAA channel 8. Recently this local station was honoring one of their own reporters for 30 years of service.  As one of the many stories that Gloria Campos reports on is Wednesday’s Child (children looking for adoption).  During these reports she tells the story of young children in the foster care system that are looking to families for adoption.  This story is about Ke’onte.  His story began with Gloria about 6 years ago when she first reported on him.  After the report his first adoption failed.  She then did another report two years later on this remarkable young man.  Scott and Carol Cook saw the report and knew that this young man should be their son. Two years ago Ke’onte even spoke before Congress to address the foster care system.

Now 14 years old Ke’onte surprises the reporter during the live celebration  report.  It is amazing what this one woman did to help many young children find the families they really belonged with through adoption.

Have a GREAT day… by making it a GREAT day for someone else.

Foster Teen is Adopted by Family of Biological Sister

There are so many tough stories about the foster system.  It can be incredibly hard for kids growing up in it.  I’d like to thank Denise S. for bringing today’s ALGN post to our attention.  It is a great one about a young man in Texas who aged out of the foster system and found himself living out of his car.  But, he was determined that his foster story was going to have a better ending than that.  This poor foster kid (Seth Miller) had become homeless after aging out of the system.  A TV news station did a piece on him and the family that had adopted his biological sister decided it was time to reach out to him.  They were unsure where it would lead, but the reunion between this foster kid and his little sister was very touching.  The family could tell instantly that Seth wasn’t meant to be a foster kid.  He was supposed to be part of their family. So, they decided to make it official and, at 18, he is being adopted.  He is no longer a “foster kid”.  He has a real family now and has become the perfect piece of a puzzle that this family was missing.

Have a GREAT Halloween, everyone.  Be safe and have fun…and make it a great day for someone else!!!
