Autistic Son Pulls Mom from Burning Car

Tyler Gianchetta knew something was terribly wrong. Tyler and his mom were in the car driving. They were going somewhere in Long Island New York when as they were talking his mother stopped speaking to him.  ”She didn’t answer me”, he said. He even asked her if she was ignoring him.  She started shaking and and then crashed into a tree.  He immedately pulled his mom out of the burning car as the car burst into flames.  Tyler broke his own hand in the process but definately saved his mother’s life.  Tyler has autism and has beaten the odds as an 18 year old college honor student.  His dad said that they have always shown Tyler how to be responsible and take care of others.  His mother has no memory of the crash and why she blacked out.  He doesn’t want to be called a hero.  He knows that he did what he had to do to save his mom at whatever cost to himself.  It is amazing what strength we find in ourselves when put in an emergency situation.  Way to go Tyler. You have grown up to be an amazing young man.  Your mom and dad should be proud.

Boy Surprised with Vacuum

Dylan has had a facination with vacuums since he was two.  Dylan, who has autism, was never into “normal” toys, his mother Jodie told WTVR.  In an effort to help make her son’s birthday special, Dylan’s mother sent an email to the Kirby Company, the Cleveland-based makers of the Kirby vacuum.  The middle school student turned 14 over the weekend and celebrated his birthday with a party that included close friends, family and a vacuum salesman.  Dylan’s mom just wanted this birthday to be something special so she reached out to the Kirby company to send someone out to just do a demonstrations.  She even had a cake made for him with a vacuum on it.  But what she got was much more.

In addition to sending Dylan a soccer ball, a hat and a T-shirt with the Kirby logo, a Kirby salesman traveled from Fredericksburg to Chesterfield to perform a vacuum demonstration at the party. He knew more about the Kirby than I did,” an obviously impressed Al Archie said. “I have never experienced anything like that.” Archie, who has been selling vacuums for Kirby for 25 years, said he was moved by Dylan’s knowledge and was taken aback by photos of a much younger Dylan dressed up as a vacuum salesman.

At the end of the demonstration he gave Dylan a brand new Kirby vacuum.  There was not a dry eye in the house.Kirby vacuums are not a cheap, but Archie said he decided to get one for Dylan as a way to celebrate the child’s passion” said Dylan’s mom. A big thanks out to the Kirby company for making this special young man’s birthday so great.

Purrrfect Place for a Cat

Our weekly pet story takes us to special house.  This house is being customized by Greg Krueger for his pets.  His special pet cats. He has created many overhead catwalks and passageways.  He says he just loves trails and paths.  That is why he has been working on this for the last 15 years.  He has Aspergers Syndrome.  His passion and his condition work together to bring him joy in continually creating this home for his cats.  He puts a very detailed craftsmanship into this passion.  He relates to his cats and they to him.  It is wonderful to see a man enjoy his pets so much that he will spend so much time to make their home a special one.  People like Greg may not relate to other people as well as they do to pets.  After all how many people think of their pets as another member of their family.  He says he may just never finish. He keeps thinking of new things to add.  I am so glad that Greg has his cats.  Everyone needs something to care for.  Do you know someone who needs a pet to share their love?  Tell them about Greg and his cats.  Visit a local shelter and take a pet home.
