A Special Cart for a Special Child

Grocery store trips weren’t easy for 2-year-old Beatrice and her mother Melody. Beatrice’s cerebral palsy prevents her from being able to fit in a standard cart so mom would have to get creative. That was until her grocery store changed everything.  This is an amazing story how a store went out of their way to fill a need and help this family and many others.  Manager Mike saw a need and filled it.  A small jesture that can make life so much better for many families with the same issues.  Now this little girl and her mom can enjoy shopping like other little children.  We are so pleased to share this story today.  This is a store that really cares about the people who shop there.  Since reading this story I have actually seen this cart at our local grocery store in honor of another local little girl.  Does your store have one? If not, stop by the customer counter and ask why. Lets see if we can get a cart in every store.  Wouldn’t that be wonderful?  A simple way to help someone out that could use it.

Reunited with His Dad

32-year-old Gad lost contact with his father Melvin 7 years ago. When Gad was 16, both his parents went separate ways with his father Melvin relocating to the United States to start a new life. Gad’s wife Hayley contacted this radio station to help reconnect the two.   The son wonders if it is his fault that his dad  left and didn’t contact him anymore.   He has not been able to talk to him in 7 years and hasn’t seen him in 15 years.  His father lost track of everyone and didn’t know to get ahold of him.  He said he wanted to contact him but didn’t know how to reach him.  This radio show helped him connect and start his life together again.  He didn’t even know that he had grandkids.  We can only hope that these two families have reconnected and maybe some day will be able to see each other again.  Never let the time slip by and you don’t reach out to your distant family. They may be thinking of you too.  Too soon time will pass and they won’t be there to talk to. Don’t let that happen to you.  So happy for this son and his dad to be reunited.

Showing Support for a Child

This video is from two years ago but I think it is the first time I heard of this story.  George H.W. Bush shaves his head to support a two-year-old with leukemia whose father is part of the Secret Service. This is just a short video of a powerful story.  When President Bush heard that a child of one of his staff was sick with leukemia.  His entire secret service staff joined him to shave their heads in honor of this little boy.  How generous of all these men to give of themselves for the honor of this little boy.  Try to find simple ways to care for others even when it may not be easy for you.  I truly respect all of these people.  Way to go guys.

9 Year Old Builds Houses

When Hailey Fort was just 5 years old, she spotted a homeless man in Kitsap County, Washington where she lives. She asked her mom whether she could help him. Her mom said yes, and for the last four years, that’s what Hailey’s been doing: helping the homeless, with the help of her mom. She plans to build 12 mobile shelters this year. Houses for the homelss she says. Miranda said the family has already met with the city to make sure the shelter won’t cause a problem though its exact location has not yet been determined. “Our city ordinance on the issue states that it can be placed on a church lot. We have a few leads on churches that will allow the structures.” Food is another one of Hailey’s priorities. She grows fruits and vegetables, and hopes to grow 250 pounds for the homeless this year. She’s begun documenting her progress on a Facebook page “Hailey’s Harvest.” The homeless, her mom said, are people she counts as her friends. It’s that friendship, in part, that keeps her going. “Hailey is repeatedly told that she can stop at any time but she continues because this is her passion. I think a lot has to do with setting such high goals and then the rush she gets when she meets them.” In addition to the 12 mobile shelters and 250 pounds of food: 1000 toiletries, 500 feminine hygiene products and 100 coats. She’s trying to raise $1,000 on her GoFundMe page and is about three-fourths of the way there. The community has been supportive of Hailey’s efforts. The cost to build one shelter, her mom said, is about $300, but the reason that price is so low is because she gets many items donated. The walls are made of pallets, which are stuffed with recycled denim insulation. The structure has a shingled roof, drywall, wood siding, and vinyl flooring. The house will have window curtains, a solar-powered lamp and most importantly, a lock on the front door. What an amazing little girl.

Mother pays the Ultimate price for her child

This story is full of bad news and good news.  I was tempted to not show it but I do think we need to appreciate the generosity of the community and the people who surround this couple is worth seeing.  Too often when bad things happen we get so caught up in the tragedy that we cannot see to appreciate the joy.  This is a story of a woman who was suffering with cancer.  She was better and seemed to have survived the cancer.  She got pregnant only to find out that the cancer had returned.  If she would choose to fight the disease she would endanger the child. She chose the life of the child over her own.  By not taking the treatments she will surely not survive this time.  In hearing of this tragedy the community and her friends and family worked hard to give her the wedding of her dreams.  She believes that she should live the life she has left.  So for not cost to her or her family she was able to have the wedding she had dreamed of.  Our prayer for this family is to enjoy the life and the time they have together.  Never take the time you have for granted.  Enjoy life and help those around you that need your help.

Simple Joy is Contagious

There is really no story or news connected to today’s story.  It is all about the simple joy of a child.  Here is a video that is making it’s way along the internet.  It shows a New York subway where you will find all kinds of people.  You also find all kinds of musicians and street performers who try to entertain for some change.  On this day you see a little child who is overwhelmed by the music that she begins to dance.  As she dances you can see the joy that she feels quickly infect the people around her.  Oh how simple joy of a child is so contagious.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if adult could let loose and really enjoy the simple things they experience everyday.  I often speak of keeping an eye on your surroundings.  It is important to do that so that an opportunity to help isn’t overlooked.  But also, keep an eye out for those times of simple joy that you can share with others.  Children can teach us lessons to enjoy life as it comes.  Take the time to enjoy life and share it with others even if it means to just dance.

Amazing 3 Year Old Artist

We all have our hidden talents.  Some appear as we grow older.  This story is about a young child who is already showing his talent as an artist.  Zach (who is only 3 in this video) uses only his fingers to create some amazing pictures.  Watch as the artist does his work.  He taps and taps as the picture develops.  Don’t we all wish that we had just some of the talent of this little artist.  Just image what he will be able to do when he grows up.   Look inside and find the artist in you.  Share your talents (whether it be art or music or whatever your talent is) to bring joy to others.
