Her Dads Walked her Down the Aisle

For most of her life, Brittany Peck has had two men vying for her love and attention: her father and stepfather.  As happens in many families Brittany’s mom and dad separated and divorsed while she was just a little girl.  Her mother remarried and Brittany came to live with her mom.  Her dad was a truck driver and on the road a lot.  He learned to love her step dad.  As she grew older the two men never liked each other and you could even say barely tolerated each other.  Now Brittany is getting married and she feels torn on her special day.  As her dad was walking her down the aisle he stopped to give her the best wedding present she could ever receive.  He went back to her step dad to get him and said he need to be there to walk “their ” daughter down the aisle.  Her step dad could not believe it.  It touched him so much to be a part of this special day.  They both walked her down the aisle and as they left her you could see the two “DADS” walking arm in arm away.  They both agreed that each played a special part in her life.  Way to go Dads. You two made the right choice and showed everyone how to handle this situation.

Son Saves Dad After Two Days in Wilderness

A father and son took an adventure and everything went bad in an instant.  A boulder fell and hit his dad.  Charlie took care of his Dad for two day before he went for help. After his father was badly injured by a falling boulder in the Idaho backcountry, the teenager did everything in his power to make sure they both made it out alive. Charlie Wilstead Finlayson just started 8th grade at Eagle Middle School. The 13-year-old is a Boy Scout and loves the wilderness. Last week, his survival skills were put to the test after a scary situation in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. The teen was on a backpacking trip with his father, David Finlayson. As they were climbing a boulder fell and hit David. The 52-year-old’s left arm and leg were broken and he had a large gash on his shin. “At first I was freaking out a little bit, but after a few minutes I kind of calmed down and thought I have to help him out and get his sleeping bag and stuff,” said Charlie. “Charlie grabbed the first-aid kit the two had brought and helped bandage the open wound. He then ran a mile back to camp and grabbed sleeping bags and warm clothes. The next day, Charlie helped keep his dad fed and hydrated. The two decided that Charlie would have to hike 13 miles the next day, by himself, to get help.”I was saying a lot of prayers before I left,” said Charlie. It was an emotional goodbye. David wrote a note and handed it to his son so he could explain to anyone he encountered what had happened and where his dad was.As luck would have it, Charlie ran into two members of his own LDS church just three miles down the trail. They headed up to stay with his dad. Charlie kept hiking and eventually, he found another man who ended up running the next eight miles to call for help. Charlie hiked the rest of the way out. The sheriff called a helicopter to lift him to safety. What a brave young man.  We are all so proud of you Charlie.

4 Year Old Saves His Dad In The Woods

Grant and Quillan Groenwald went out in the woods to cut down a few trees.  Grant usually went there alone but on this day he decided to bring his young four-year old son.  As Grant began to cut the tree it came down different from what he planned and he scrambled to get out of the way.  He could not move and called for Quillan to help.  He first did not think he could do anything but soon came to his dad’s rescue when he was pinned under a tree branch. He dragged the chainsaw to him so he could cut his way out.  Grant had to not only to cut himself out of this fallen tree but he had to do it under many branches.  He was able to (with the help of little Quillan) get out from other the tree and make his way to the truck.  It could have been a lot worse. When they arrived at home the little guy ran in to get help from his mom.  Grant says he will never go chop again alone.  He thanks his little son for saving his life.  Way to go Quillan. You are an amazing young man.

What a Father Will Do For His Daughter

Here is a fun video today for those fathers who will do anything for their little girls.  This Dad was asked by his daughter to do a dance routine for her Bat Mitzvah. This happened a few years ago. This Dad had been known to do things like this for his little girl.  If you check out his You Tube channel you will find several videos like this.  This is what we need more of.  A Dad who is not afraid to look foolish for his little girl.  You can just imagine how much time he had to spend with this little girl practicing for this event.  That is the important part.  Spending time with your kids while they are young.  Jessica will never forget the time she and her Dad spent together planning and working for these events.  Time spent with his little girl is invaluable.  What a great dad.  The kids grow up too quickly.  Take the time to enjoy their childhood. You will never regret this time in their lives.

Get Well Card Pays Off

Joseph and Jodi Amaricie won $7 Million from the New York Lottery.  He says he doesn’t play the lottery very often.  In fact, he didn’t buy it this time.  Joseph received the lottery scratcher card in a get well card from his dad.  Joseph had just had surgery and received a get well card from his dad with a scratcher in it.   After scratching off the card he discovered that he had won 7 million dollars.  I am sure he looked it over many times before believing that he won.  How many times have we given a scratcher to a friend or family member never really expecting them to win something large?   I hope this couple will use this windfall for something good.  I am sure it will take a while for them to decide what to do with this new found wealth.  A great big thank you to Dad is due at the very least.

Thank You Dad- a video Father’s Day Card

This video has no story to tell other than the wonderful feelings we have for our Dads.  This video made by White Wing Films is just a beautiful video Father’s Day card for all the Dads out there.  It is a touching message that was created just to say, “Thank You Dad”.  You will smile and maybe shed a tear or two.  We can’t forget just how many times our Dad is there for us.  All too soon they will be gone but not forgotten.  Don’t miss a chance to tell them Thank You while you can.  Father’s Day and Mother’s Day are once a year but we don’t have to just wait for this random holiday to share our feelings with these special people in our lives.  No matter how old you are, you are still your father’s little girl or little boy.  Tell them that you love them and are happy that He is YOUR dad.  Thank you to White Wing Films for creating such a heart warming tribute to Fathers.

A Father’s Story on His Daughter’s Wedding Day

This coming Sunday is Father’s Day.  As we did with Mother’s Day we are going to share some “Father Videos” with you during this week.  I want to thank Betsy D.  for sharing this video.  It is a touching story that a Father tells to his daughter’s groom on their wedding day.  It will make you laugh and make you cry.  It’s worth watching.  Many of us can relate to the father but also imagine being the new son-in-law.  What a wonderful gift he received this day from his new father-in-law.  It is cleaver and sentimental.  His story tells in a few brief minutes the story of his daughter’s life and just how much she means to him and to God.  It is a story about his talks about his little girl with God.  It is so cute at times and will make you smile.  I hope you enjoy this video as much as I did.  Watch the daughter as you watch this video and see just how much her Father means to her.  She and her new husband will be talking about this for years to come.

Fathers are amazing gifts from God.  Be sure to let your father know that this Sunday and everyday.
