So God Made A Dog

Those of you who have dogs will really understand and love this video.  Those of you who don’t have a dog may be able to understand the crazyness of people who love them.  These animals come into our lives usually as a cute puppy as a gift for a child.  Sometimes they are adopted older and just join the family.  You can’t figure out why you added them to your family and then before you know it you can’t figure out how you go on without them in your family.  This is just a beautiful poem with pictures that really portay the fellings you get when you have a dog in the family.  This tells us the things we already know  and somethings we don’t.  It reminds us of the loyalty of those friends we call dogs.  Take a moment and just enjoy this short video poem.  Share this those who love dogs, those who don’t and especially those who need to understand dogs.  It is one of the best descriptions I have ever seen for these furry members of our family members.  There is no better companion, friend, family and partner than a faithful dog.  Those that have never had one cannot understand the connection between a dog and his family.  Enjoy and Share

Sheba Comes to America with Her Pups

Operation Puppy Rescue.  This is a story of a liter of pups and a bunch of soldiers in Afganistan.  It seems that these soldiers foung Sheba and she kind of adopted them.  Sheba then gave birth to a liter of puppies. These soldiers even went so far as to share their food with the dog and her pups.  They wouldn’t have made it without the soldiers. They cared for these puppies like their own.  When it came time for this group of soldiers to head home they wanted to bring these puppies home with them.  That is where Edwin Caba went to work with Guardians of Rescue.  They helped arrange with the help of some generous donations to ship the dogs from Afganistan to the New York.  These dogs gave Sgt.. Caba and his unit a sense of normalcy that they would not have had without them.  After the dogs arrived Candace (Sgt. Caba’s dog) went home to meet his other dog.  He said they are getting along fine.  They are perfect friends.  How great that a pet can help these men come back to their lives.  Thank you gentlemen for your service and to the your pets.  Glad you guys are together again.

Secret Service Dogs

USSS-K-9 Jordan is a Belgian Malinois.  He looks alot like a German Shepherd.  He is not an average dog.  He is a secret service agent.  So is K-9 agent Hurricane.  They are stationed at the White House to protect it.  Last week they were called into action when an intruder got on the White House lawn. Their breed is chosen for their agility and eagerness to serve.  They are able to run twice as fast as an olympic runner.  There are 73 other dogs in the secret service. They get 20 weeks of training and continue to work until they are 10 years old. When they retire they get to live with the families of their handlers.  These special dogs do a great service to our country. How amazing are these dogs.  They are devoted to their jobs as protectors.

Police Officer Stays With Lost Dogs

This is a story about a Kansas City Police officer.  Morning commuters found  a police officer sitting on the side of the road waiting with two dogs who had been separated from their owners.   It was a cold day and he found the dogs wondering close to the roadway.  He stayed there and waited with them until the humane society could pick them up.   A passerby took a photo and spread it around on Facebook.  It spread like wildfire.  It even ended up at the shelter where they were taken.  Their owners went by the shelter desperate to find their pets.  They were so relieved to find them there and unhurt.  They were also so grateful for the police officer who took such good care of their pets.  The news team tried to speak with the police officer but he declined an interview and said that he was only doing his duty to serve and protect the 4 legged citizens of his community. What a great attitude.  This is just one of many examples of good police officers who will do anything to serve the community.  Officer, you are truly a good man and a hero in our book.

Dogs Save Woman’s Life After Fall

A Florida woman who took a fall at her home was saved by her two dogs Higgins and Dodger who stayed with her for 2 days.  Judy Muhe, 76 of Palmdale, Florida broke her shoulder in the fall.  Her two dogs stayed with her warming her and laying with her in her kitchen.  She could not get up and drifted in and out of consioiusness for two days.  They kept her warm by laying on her feet and up against her back only leaving her side to run to the door when a neighbor (having not heard from her) came to her door to check on her.  Kathy Jacobs said, “the dogs were right here with her.  They actually ran to the door and then they ran back to where she was, like showing us she was there”.   Muhe asked that everyone take care of their pets, calling her own dogs, “angels on four legs”.

They say that they are man’s best friends but I know that many people know that their pets are not just friends, they are family.

See What This Dog Does to Some Kittens

Today is Friday and we haven’t had a “Pet Post of the Week” yet.  So, that is what today is!  Thank you to Karen D. for sending this to us.  It is about a dog named Lily.  Lily was a dog that was abandoned by its owner (possibly when they found out she was pregnant).  She is a lab mixed with some other dog breed(s).  She was taken into the Humane Society Adoption Center.  After giving birth to her 6 puppies, they were all adopted, leaving the mother dog all alone.  But, then something interesting happened.  A number of baby kittens all showed up at the Adoption Center, without their mother.  The people at the Adoption Center knew that it would be . a real challenge to feed the kittens by hand.  So, they decided to try something else, instead. They put the kittens in with the dog (Lily) and carefully see what would happen Lily INSTANTLY took the kittens and fed them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  We don’t typically think that something like this could ever happen.  Aren’t dogs and cats almost “Natural Enemies”?  So, did the “mothering” instinct override the “dog” instinct?  I guess we may never know, for sure, what happens in cases like this.  In fact, in the video, it gives some quick examples of other animals (besides dogs), where the “mothering” instinct took over to help in a time of need between different types of animals.  I guess when it comes down to it, a mother is a mother.  They seem to always have a very soft spot in their heart for babies. This is one area where people aren’t so different from dogs or other animals.  Aren’t mothers wonderful?!?!  They are the greatest of all of God’s creations!!  Thank you to a special dog named Lily.  But, more importantly, thank you to Moms everywhere.  Now, let’s all go hug our respective Moms…or, if you are too far away, give her a call and say THANK YOU and let her know we love and appreciate all she has done for us.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Dog Rescued After Beach Abandonment

Today’s ALGN post of a dog rescue is our “Animal Post of the Week”.  There isn’t a lot to the video, but it is nice to see the great work that these people do and the “new life” that they provide to one dog after another.  This dog that was rescued (Remi) is a pit bull that ends up being such a loving and kind pet.  She just needed some attention and care and as a result, she gives it all back and then some in the way that only a dog can do.  We thought it would be great to have a pet story (about a dog, in this case) on Thanksgiving weekend.  Yesterday, hopefully we were all thinking of the people in our lives that we are thankful for.  But, today, we thought it would be a great reminder of the dogs (and other pets) in our lives that we are thankful for.  We wanted to find another one of the amazing stories where a dog or other pet saves a life.  Those are great stories.  But, instead, we found one where the life that was saved was the dog’s.  But, once the dog was saved, she gave much more love and happiness to her new owner!!  Let us each look to “save” others (people, dogs and any other person or creature that we can save).  Happy Thanksgiving weekend.

Now…Go have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!
