A Random Act for A Pizza Delivery Person

What is more special, giving someone something they expect or to give the unexpected.  Many workers live mostly on their tips.  Servers and delivery drivers are a few that really count on their tips to suppliment their income.  This video shows a group of people (this group just happens to be a church group) that decided they wanted to share their good fortunes by doing a good deed for an unexpecting person.  So… they ordered a pizza.  Just one pizza.  They had been learning about being generous. So they decided to show their generosity they took up a special offering.  Her tip was $9 but they have a gift for her of $1046.00 to just help her with her life.  Nothing expected, nothing required. Just a gift.  Thank you Sycamore Creek Church in Pickerington Ohio, for wrapped up a monthly missions emphasis on “Random Acts of Kindness,” by surprising an unsuspecting pizza delivery driver. What a wonderful unexpected gift to a stranger.  What could you do to surprise a stranger with a random act of kindness?  It doesn’t have to be something as big as this example but it could be something as simple as a smile.  Think about it.  You can make a difference.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Stranger Amazing Gesture for Fallen Officer’s Son

Sam Brownlee was a Colorado Sheriff’s Deputy.  He was shot and killed when trying to capture a subject after a high speed chase while on duty.  They are auctioning off his patrol car to raise money for an organization that helps the families of fallen officers. There is one bidder for this car that is kind of special.  The Sheriff’s son, Tanner Brownlee would like to win the auction so he could have his Dad’s patrol car. Tanner was only 15 when his father died. He doesn’t have much to remember his dad.  Tanner didn’t have much money to bid on the car.  He just hoped that who ever got the car would take care of it.  The bidding started and Tanner was right in the bidding.  Soon the price went way more than Tanner had available.  He watched as the price of the $12,500 car grew to $60,000.   A man who bought the former service car of a fallen Weld County, Colorado Sheriff’s deputy turned this purchase into an amazing act of kindness. After he won the car he walked over and presented the keys to Tanner.  He couldn’t believe what this many had done.  What a wonderful gesture.  It is amazing when people do amazing things for special people.

Inspiring Tip for Pizza Guy

Students at Indiana Wesleyan University come together every Wednesday for chapel.  This week’s message was, “Do for one what you wish you do everyone”.  What an inspiring thought. With that spirit in mind the 3000+ students began writing notes.  At that time the President of the Residential Campus, Dr. Keith Newman, ordered two pizzas from Domino’s Pizza.  His total came to $12.50.  Delivery driver James Gilpin arrived at the chapel and was escorted to the stage.  James didn’t know what was happening.  Dr. Newman thanked him for all he does and gave him a cupcake, a bag of the notes and a tip of $1268 +$70 in gift cards.  James was quite surprised and says he will use the tip money for Christmas for his 5 and 6 year old and that he is drawing inspiration from the thousands of student’s notes.   How amazing that the small acts of individuals can come together to have such a huge effect together.  What an inspiring philosophy.  Keep it up students.  Spread this message to everyone you come in contact with.

What this husband does for his wife

Here is a story of true love and devotion.  Larry Swilling is a loving husband to his wife Jimmie Sue.  They have been married for 57 years. Jimmie Sue has failing kidneys.  So Larry did what ever he could for over a year to find her a kidney.  Larry, age 77, starting walking all over his community in South Carolina to find her a kidney.  He stopped everyone is path crossed and asked for a kidney.    Most people would not even consider this for a family member not to mention a stranger. After the first airing of this story on CBS thousands of people called to offer their kidneys.  More than 100 went through the testing and one was  a match.  Kelly Weaverling, a retired Navy lt. Commander was the match.  She said she knew she could do something to give this family hope.  Larry really wants to thank her but she says he only needs to take care of his wife.  What a beautiful and loving gift this stranger did for these people.  How brave it is to reach down inside and give something so precious, the gift of life.  Larry said he will now look for more donors for other people.

Organ donation comes full circle

Organ donation is an amazing gift.  Most often this happens at a tragic time.   That holds true for this story in part.  About 10 years ago when Bill Millard’s son died after an ATV accident  his family donated his organs, one of which saved the life of Jake McKinnon.  What a hard experience to go through.  The only good to come out of that accident was to use his organs to help others.  That is why his family donated his organs.  Now some 10 years later, Bill himself was in need of an organ transplant.  Jake’s mom, Janice is now returning the favor to help by donating her kidney.  This happened in early August and Bill is doing well.  They continue to monitor his progress but feel that he will make a full recovery.  Here are two families that were drawn together by tragedy and now reach out help each other.  These two families will forever have a connection.   Are you a designated organ donor?  Consider it.  Imagine giving life to another when you no longer need it.  What an amazing gift and legacy that would be.  Take a moment now to fill out a donor card.  It can’t hurt.. only help.
