Wedding on a plane

What’s more romantic than a wedding? A surprise wedding at 30.000 feet, completely planned out by your future husband. Thomas Cook Facebook fan Alexander asked his clueless girlfriend to marry him on a plane. Did she say yes?  This video happened last year but it is so cute and is such a wonderful feel good story I had to share it when I found it.  It seems there was an airline company that offered a free wedding for a couple and their friends aboard their plane. The one catch was he had to ask her to marry him and arrange for the wedding on that flight with her family there.  Alexander said yes and the planning began.  Alexander worked very hard to make everything special for his bride to be and make sure that it would be a day she would never forget.  Can you imagine?  Not many of us could do this and get the result that he did.  What a compassionate man and an understanding a loving woman to accept all he had done and go forward with it happily.  Planning something special for others is wonderful but accepting what someone would do for you is also just as important.

Little Boy with A Big Heart Giving Smiles

Jaden Hayes lost both of his parents at a young age. But he is determined to live life with joy. As Steve Hartman shows us, the six-year-old is embarking on a mission to turn frowns into smiles.  This little guy got the idea that he was just was so tired of seeing people sad.  He wanted to see people happy again.  So,  he told his aunt that he wanted to share some joy with people around his community.  He asked her to get some small toys.  They got some beads, some rubber ducks and lots of small toys.  He just waits on the sidewalk with his aunt and watches for people without smiles.  That is when he goes up and just gives them a toy.  He loves the surprised looks and of course, the smiles.  What a wonderful little man.  He cares about people and with all he has gone through he just wants to bring joy to people.  What a wonderful heart he has for others.  Thank you Jaden for showing us all how we should take care of others.

A Special Prom Invite

Corning High School student Cope Robinson asked Autumn Pollard to prom this year in front of the entire student body during a pep rally. Pollard is a junior at Corning High School and has Noonan syndrome. Her parents said it affects growth, the heart and several other aspects. Autumn said she usually joins the mascot on the basketball court to do a dance during the pep rally but she wasn’t expecting what happened next. “They turned me towards the words and here’s Cope walking to me with purple flowers, my favorite color,” Pollard said.

Robinson, a sophomore football player, said he and Autumn go to the same church and thanks to the help of his older sister and a few others, they were able to pull off the big surprise. He also said he hopes people see the video and feel inspired to be kind to others.“More people see that and be like that, instead of no, I’m not going to go with this kid, I’m not going to go with that kid,” said Robinson. It is wonderful to see how Cope respected Autumn and wanted to share this occasion with her.  They are wonderful examples to us all.

Things Dad Did For You – Happy Father’s Day

Father’s Day is Sunday.  This Father’s Day, take the time to notice all the wonderful things your father does for you.  This video can be a gift to your father that you want to share the message of how great your dad is.  If you need this video in Spanish you can find it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we3Gf1pPlHg or in Portuguese at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3CrcaBOMl8.  In any language our Dads are special and this Sunday tell them. Show them how much they mean to you.  Tell them how much you remember those special times they spend with you.  Tell them that they have taught you to be the person you are today and that you appreciate all they have done.  Tell them this Sunday and every day.  Because it’s not just Father’s Day this Sunday but it should be Father’s day everyday.  Because everyday our fathers work hard to be the best Dad they can be.   Don’t forget Grandpa and those father figures you have in your life. Do something special by remembering them. Happy Father’s Day!

Proof: Expressing Gratitude Makes You Happy

Be Happy!!  I don’t care what you have going on today, you MUST watch this video.  If I could ORDER everyone to watch it, I would.  A BIG HEARTFELT (and HAPPY) Thank you to Mindy C. for sending this to me.  This may be my new all-time favorite ALGN Post.  Not because of how well it was done…frankly, it could have been done better.  But, because the message of how to be happy is SPOT ON!!  Yes, it is a tad bit longer than our usual ones….but WELL WORTH IT.  Make time for this video — and WATCH IT.  The folks at Soul Pancake came across a study that showed that, if you wanted to be happy, you needed to express gratitude more.  The study made sense, but they wanted to test it for themselves. So, they brought people in and asked them to score themselves regarding how happy they were. Then, they asked them to think of who had a great influence on their lives, etc.  After the test subjects did that, they had them write down what makes that person so special. They encouraged them to write a lot about how great that person was and why they were so grateful for them.  At this point, the test subjects thought they were done, but this was when the BIGGER surprise came to them. They were then asked to call that person RIGHT THEN and read them what they had written.  Apparently, some chose not to do it.  But, others did.  The results were phenomenal.  I know that we all would expect that the phone calls made the person they were grateful for happy.  But, did you think that it would also have the same impact on the person who was expressing gratitude?  Frankly, it may have been even MORE of an impact.  After this was done, they had the test subjects rank themselves on how happy they were NOW.  Interestingly, even the people who refused to make the phone call (and only had what they wrote and did not share it with anyone)  still ended up increasing in how happy they were.  The people who saw their score on the “happy meter” grow the most were the ones who made the phone call.  And, most interestingly, the people who started out the least happy, ended up being the people whose “HAPPY” scores grew the most.  What this study did NOT show (but it is true) was that constantly expressing gratitude also helps a person be more sensitive of others…and it certainly keeps you / makes you humble.  What a great combination (people who are more happy and more humble).  That is a group of people I would like to be around.  So, do you want to be happy?  SUPER.  Just go show lots of gratitude to others and you will be CURED (much more happy)!!  WOW.  I wish EVERYONE were required to learn this same lesson.  What a different world we would live in.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!
