An Unexpectant Visit for a Father

Going through a difficult time like a serious illness is hard enough when you are surrounded by your families but even harder when your family is far away.  This is one of those videos that really touch your heart.  This father is having a serious life threatening cancer surgery in only a few days.  He thinks his son is in the Philippines speaking to him on the phone.  But Surprise!  Here he comes his son … Standing behind him in the same room.Family is what we need to get us through these types of difficult situations.  This story is from last year and the update is that the Dad overcame the surgery, went cancer free for a year, now is fighting again with success. Best wishes to this family and use the strength of your family to get through it all.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Soldier Surprises Family

I never get tired of these stoies.  At this time of year we see lots of stories about soldiers surprising their family with an early return.  This week and next week we will probably share a couple of these types of stories.  It is so wonderful to see the family as they realize that their soldier has come home. Most of us will never understand the joy of seeing a family member coming home unexpectantly for the holidays.  Have you ever stopped a soldier that you see at the airport or walking through a store to just say “Thank you for your service”?  There are too many that don’t get to come home for the holidays.  When you see the ones that do please stop them and tell them just how glad you are to see them and how much you appreciate their service.  They can’t hear it enough.  I don’t know who was happier in the video – the family or the soldier.  Welcome home and we wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Unexpected Texas Homecoming Queen

This story takes place at a Texas High School.  It is a story about friendship.  The kind of friendship that is so special.  This story started with a terrible prank but ending with a happy ending.  A group of mean girls thought they would tell Lillie Skinner that she was nominated for Homecoming Queen.  Her two best friends were really nominated for Homecoming Queen.  They made a pact that if either one of them won that they would turn the crown over to Lillie.  Both girls think Lillie is the best friend they could ever have and that she has a huge heart.  The night of Homecoming both Anahi Alvarez and Naomi Martinez waiting anxiuosly for the annoucement of the winner.  They had also told the principal about their plan and asked him to get Lillie on the field for the announcement.  When the winner was annouced, they brought Lillie over with Anahi Alvarez after they anounced she had won.  Anahi removed her crown and gave it to Lillie making her Homecoming Queen. The principal said that this was the best thing that had happened since he had become principal.  What a great friend these two girls were to Lillie.  As they say, she is great friend with a huge heart.  What a great way to turn a bad situation into a good one.  Thanks to Patricia M for bringing us this story.

Emotional Homecomings for Our Country’s Heroes

I know that many (most?) of you may have already seen this video.  It has been making the rounds quite a bit on the internet this past week.  But, frankly, I don’t care.  It is simply too good to not be our “A Little Good News” post that wraps up our 4th of July week.  I have watched this 5 times now and I can’t keep from getting emotional each time I watch it.  It is a little bit longer than our regular posts, but watch it, anyway.  It will be the best 6 minutes and 43 seconds you can spend this weekend!!  And, as you watch it, please say a little prayer of thanks for those who serve (and who HAVE served) in our armed forces and ask God to protect those serving now until they also get to come home to their families again.

Happy 4th of July Weekend!!

Now…Go have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!
