A Random Act for A Pizza Delivery Person

What is more special, giving someone something they expect or to give the unexpected.  Many workers live mostly on their tips.  Servers and delivery drivers are a few that really count on their tips to suppliment their income.  This video shows a group of people (this group just happens to be a church group) that decided they wanted to share their good fortunes by doing a good deed for an unexpecting person.  So… they ordered a pizza.  Just one pizza.  They had been learning about being generous. So they decided to show their generosity they took up a special offering.  Her tip was $9 but they have a gift for her of $1046.00 to just help her with her life.  Nothing expected, nothing required. Just a gift.  Thank you Sycamore Creek Church in Pickerington Ohio, for wrapped up a monthly missions emphasis on “Random Acts of Kindness,” by surprising an unsuspecting pizza delivery driver. What a wonderful unexpected gift to a stranger.  What could you do to surprise a stranger with a random act of kindness?  It doesn’t have to be something as big as this example but it could be something as simple as a smile.  Think about it.  You can make a difference.

Humble Waitress Shows Another Random Act of Kindess

A humble waitress in a Fort Worth Texas restaurante decided to pay for grieving couple’s restaurant bill herself after finding out that their nine-week-old daughter had died. The waitress pays the grieving couple’s restaurant check herself after hearing they had lost their baby daughter just a month ago.

Kayla Lane was waiting on Shaun and Debbie Riddle as they dined at West Side Cafe in Forth Worth, Texas on Thursday afternoon and noticed their daughter, Glory, was not with them who she had seen the month before.  Kayla asked how the baby was doing and the customers told her that the baby had died.  When she learned of their loss. instead of giving them their bill she left note that read “Your ticket has been paid for. We are terribly sorry for your loss. God Bless” Lane said she made the random act of kindness to provide a helping hand to the family during a time of deep sorrow. Baby Glory did not wake up from a nap and passed away on May 4 at nine weeks old.  She does pay for meals for her customers on special occasions.  She also pays for military, police and fire fighters.  She just loves to give some sunshine to people who need it.  Thank you Kayla for being such a special person and a friend to strangers.

Simple Acts of Kindness

Can’t we all just use a little small act of kindness?  Something as simple as a smile or a “good day” up to  money in the parking meter of someone you don’t know. I love this video.  These guys just stopped by a fire department to drop off some soda and a pizza. What could you do?  What would mean something to you?  How can you show that you care?  Try it today.  Spend some time thinking of all the ways you could “treat” someone to a little joy.  Enlist the help from others to make your efforts go that much further.  What would happen in this crazy world if everyone just once did something nice for someone else.  Sometimes we quickly jump to the opposite situation when someone does something that makes us mad or upset.  What if we could as quickly jump in and do something nice for the guy behind us in line?  Bringing joy to others gives you a great feeling. So do like these guys and go try it one day.  Let us know how it went.  Share the joy.  Share the love of life.

She Believed In Me- Marc Mero

Marc Mero is an incredible sports figure.  He is a former WCW and WWE Champion.  In this video he talks about his success but more importantly he talks about his mom.  She believes in him through all his trials and temptations.  He lived through susbstance abuse and now spends his time telling young people his story.  He speaks of how his mom believed in him.  She would wait up when he came home drunk with his friends.  She always believed in him.  All she ever wanted to do was to talk to him.  She loved him.  He tells these students that life is not about winning the race. Life is about how we finish the race.  We need to be kinder to each other.  Life is so precious.  This talk is to help these kids know how you can off the right path but it is not too late to get back on the right path and finish the race.  Life is a race and you make it what it will be.  What a powerful gift he gave to these students and to us.  Take the time to reflect on this message and take action now.  Before it is too late.  Care for others and show them that you know how precious life is.  ”Love is just a word until someone gives it meaning.  You are the meaning.”

Police Acts of Kindness

Often we just see the bad stories on the news.  Recently we have been hearing stories about the police.  Police who may make bad choices or are forced into bad decisions.  This video is about some of the great police who not only make good choices but do random acts of kindness for others.  They do this not because they have to but because they want to.  Many times it is because they can help.  I truly believe there are many more stories like this collection out there that we never hear.  Most people who choose to do kind acts for others often won’t or don’t tell others about their kindess.  That is what makes there kindness so real because it is humble.  They don’t do it for the attention.  They don’t do it for the praise but I think these are some really good examples of how good people can be to others.  Thanks to all of you public servants who really take on that role 100%. What a great example you are to others.  You are our heroes.

What a Way to Spend Summer

Today’s story completes this week of Random Acts of Kindness stories.  This doesn’t mean we won’t see anymore.  I am hoping this week inspires you to come up with your own random act of kindness.  Today we have a story about the Murset family with 7 children that spend their vacation this summer on the road doing good deeds for strangers the whole way.  They are traveling over 6500 miles (that’s 20 states in 3 weeks).  Can you imagine spending your vacation serving others?  What a wonderful gift.  They have been visiting people doing household chores for strangers or community service (like spreading mulch and pulling weeds).  So, what do you think the kids think of this trip?  Well, I was pleasantly surprised to hear them say that they love giving to others and that they would do it again (even though they did not like all those miles).  Their dad said he came up with the idea because he wanted to get the kids off the couch and teach them how to do things for others.  What a great idea Dad.  This is a lifetime memory for your family and now for all of us seeing your story.  Make your own family memory by doing something for others as a family.  You will be glad you did.  Murset family, you are our heroes today!

Random Act of Kindness at Walmart

Here is an interesting retelling of a random act of kindness witnessed at a Sioux Falls Walmart recently.  This report illustrates the event and then shows the actual video that was taken by someone who observed what happened.  I love hearing stories where people see a need and fill it without expecting anything in return.  People taking care of people.  That is what it is all about.  This story was a mother who needed diapers and the store would not honor a coupon she had.  When she decided to leave another customer saw what was happening and offered to pay for her diapers.  So moved by the act she went out to the parking lot and cried.  The woman who bought her the diapers asked her to someday return the favor by helping someone else in need.  How wonderful it is when someone fulfills a need for others.   Today’s random act of kindness hero is Carol Flynn.  Thank you Carol for seeing the need and acting.  What if everyone did something (even a small something) for others.  What a better place this world would be.

Random Act of Kindness at Chick-fil-A

Today’s story is one we hear about more often these days.  Thanks to Patricia M for sending us this story.  We can never hear about it often enough.  This random act of kindness happened in Texas.  One Monday a man named John decided to go through the drive through at Chick-fil-A.  He paid for his meal with ten one hundred dollar bills.  His random act of kindness paid for the meals for 88 other people besides his own.  You never know how something as small as paying for a meal will effect another.  The people working there that day tell of many stories they heard from the people who were the recipients of this kindness.  One lady had had such a bad day that broke into tears when hearing that John had paid for her meal.  The people working that day were also touched by this kindness.  One gentleman reminds us all that we just need to take the time to treat people better.  Have you ever received a random act of kindness like this one?  Have you ever done one of these for others? Why not today?   Why not you?

He Turned a Crib into A Memorial

Here is a heart wrenching story that a went from tragedy to a random act of kindess.  Thank you to Sara M. for showing us this beautiful story.  It is a story that starts out with the biggest fear for a family that is expecting a baby.  Instead of bringing home a baby Valerie was saddened to deliver a still born baby.  Once she returned home empty handed she had to go through the hard task of what to do with the nursery. After many months she reluctantly held a yard sale but at first could not part with the crib.  It was hard to see it everyday but even harder to part with it.   That’s where Gerald comes in.  He is a retired craftsman who creates benches in his garage.  While he wandered the garage sale his wife spoke with Valerie and asked how old her baby was (since she had infant clothes and a crib for sale).  She shared her sad story.  Gerald bought the crib and on the way home found out her story from his wife and decided to make a bench for Valerie.  He converted the crib into a beautiful bench and returned it back to the mother.  What a beautiful tribute to this lost child and such a touching gift to this family from a stranger who cared.
