Girl finds sister on Facebook

Katie is looking for her mom an sister.  She has been looking for years and decided to finally try social media. She started a facebook page and posted a video of her reading a sign she created with all the details of her life and her family that she was looking for.  Within hours she was given the contact information of her sister. They were able to connect on the phone.  ”It wasn’t as uncomfortable as I thought it would be”, she said.  It was like they knew each other always.  What a wonderful thing this social media is when it can help families come together.  Let’s all spend our time on social media helping eachother like this situation.  What a wonderful story.  I look forward to hearing more great stories like this families coming together.  We can help people in many ways.  Watch for these ways when they come to you.

Reunited with His Dad

32-year-old Gad lost contact with his father Melvin 7 years ago. When Gad was 16, both his parents went separate ways with his father Melvin relocating to the United States to start a new life. Gad’s wife Hayley contacted this radio station to help reconnect the two.   The son wonders if it is his fault that his dad  left and didn’t contact him anymore.   He has not been able to talk to him in 7 years and hasn’t seen him in 15 years.  His father lost track of everyone and didn’t know to get ahold of him.  He said he wanted to contact him but didn’t know how to reach him.  This radio show helped him connect and start his life together again.  He didn’t even know that he had grandkids.  We can only hope that these two families have reconnected and maybe some day will be able to see each other again.  Never let the time slip by and you don’t reach out to your distant family. They may be thinking of you too.  Too soon time will pass and they won’t be there to talk to. Don’t let that happen to you.  So happy for this son and his dad to be reunited.

Two Vets Reunited

Two Navy shipmates and Vietnam War veterans have been reunited after a 38-year search. Rick Mueller and Joe Martinez served together in 1971 aboard the U.S.S. White Plains.“They called us M&M – Martinez and Mueller,” Martinez said. Mueller tried to reach out to Martinez in 1976 at a Denver gas station with a phone booth and five dollars in change calling numbers in the phonebook, but was unsuccessful. He sent out many letters trying to find his friend. Then, recently, Mueller received a letter from Martinez, which said, “I have been trying to reach you. You were my best friend.” This is a homecoming that was 38 years in the making.  These two were thrown together when they met in the military.  They found an immediate connection and became lifelong friends.  At the end of the war they lost touch.  Now in this video they find each other and it is like they never lost eachother.  A friendship as special as this one is hard to come by.  How wonderful that they were reunited.

Man reunited with Time Capsule

Have you ever thought of putting together a time capsule?  Taking things that mean something to you today and putting it in a container and hiding it to find another day.  That is what a 12 year old boy did some 37 years ago.  The 37-year-old time capsule discovered in a Fontana, California home last December has been returned to the man who hid it as a 12-year-old boy. Texas resident Robert Wright, 49, told ABC News today he flew with his father to their former home this past weekend to pick up the 1978 time capsule and its contents — a letter Wright wrote to himself, a McDonald’s scratch card game, newspaper clippings and coins. “It was surreal,” Wright said. “I never thought I’d see it again.”

What would you put in a time capsule?  What would you want people of the future to find to learn about you and the times you are living in?  What would they know about you by what you put in the capsule?  How awesome is it that they were able to return this to Robert.  I bet he never thought he would see it again.

Twins Separated at Birth Reunited on Facebook

Samantha Futerman who lives in Los Angeles woke up one morning to a Facebook post from someone who said they saw her on You Tube. The messenger said that she looks a lot like her and after doing some research discovered that they were both born in town (Busan, South Korea) and on the same day.  After learning they were both adopted Anais, a French fashion Designer agreed to meet on Skype.  Once they saw each other it was clear that they were not only sisters but twin sisters that had been separated at birth.  They chatted for over three hours and agreed to meet.  They met in London and then again in LA.  They decided to be certain they would do a DNA test.  As expected their DNA matched.  Samantha admited to her sister that when she was little she had an imaginary friend she called Anne.  They even took a trip together back to Korea.  How amazing that these two could be worlds apart but find each other on social media and reconnect via Facebook.  Now after being apart for 30 years they have one thing for sure.  They have an entire future to spend together.  They have now createda full-length documentary to share their touching story of being separated at birth, abandoned, adopted and later reunited.  If you are interested in their story you can check out their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/twinstersmovie

Mother and Son Reunited

I need to tell you that this is not a current story.  I found this one while searching for a great story to bring you.  When I discovered it I thought it was worth sharing even though it happened several years ago.  It is never too late for good news.  Here is the story of a boy that was put up for adoption as a baby.  He so wanted to find his birth mother and be reunited that he had been searching for four years.  One day he discovered that he was misspelling her name.  When he corrected the error he discovered that there was a woman with that name in his town.  He was tellng a coworker that her name was Tallady not Talladine.  The coworker said. “Like Chris Tallady that works upfront?”.  It turns out that the woman he had been searching for was the head cashier at the store they both worked at.  The adoption agency agreed to break the news to Chris telling her that a coworker named Steve was the son that she had given up for adoption so many years ago She had been hoping for a long time that someday she would get a call out of the blue that her son had found her.   So she asked the manager to check the files for the birthdate.  For 8 months they had worked together not knowing they were mother and son.   What a wonderful surprise for both them.  Now they have a chance to become real family.
