Teen finds wallet and returns it.

Here is a short video with a great story.  A young man found a wallet that contained $2300.  His family was struggling with expenses but he never considered keeping the money. He turned it in right away to his school officials.  The wallet was claimed by a veteran who had lost his wallet.  The boys family was so proud of him for being doing the right thing.  When his mother sent him a text telling her how proud she was of him his reply was “You should be thanking yourself, you raised me”.  See when (as a parent) you are never really sure if they hear you and understand your lessons then you see something like this and realize, they are getting it.  Great job Mom and Dad for teaching this young man right from wrong and how to do the right thing.  AND thank you Tommy for thinking of others and doing the right thing.  Also, thanks to the vet who did reward Tommy.  BTW – I am sorry, but this video does not stop at the end of this story but continues on with a weather report from a local station. We could not edit this so just accept my apologies for this at the end of this great story.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

A True Dedication

This is a story of an incredible woman.  As a young girl she made a comittment to a man that she didn’t even know.  Back in the 70s  when the Vietnam war was happening many people took a vow to wear a MIA bracelet for a soldier that was missing in action.  Many days, months and years went by.  Some men returned home and the people wearing their bracelet would be able to remove the bracelet once they returned home.  Not for one soldier and the girl who was wearing his bracelet.  After 4 decades she gets the word that his remains were located.  It was Christmas day 1972 when 12 year old Kathy Strong found her bracelet in her stocking.  She took her committment very seriously.  She wore this bracelet and never took it off.  She said she even wore it through an MRI.  This was not a promise that she took lightly.  She wore the name James Moreland until she was told that his remains were found and were brought home to be buried. She didn’t remove the bracelet until she could put it on his uniform in his coffin. She sat with his family at the funeral even though she had never met this man.  She had always dreamed of the day when she would take off the bracelet and meet the man she was wearing it for.  What dedication to follow through a promise you made as a child long into your adult life.  Thank you for your servie Kathy.

Oldest Living Vet Turns 109

Texan Richard Overton, the country’s oldest veteran, is the perfect model of aging well by living well. He will be 109 next month.  He is the perfect example of how clean living = logevity. He mows his own grass, does his own yard work, takes out his own trash and does his own shopping.  He still drives his own car.    Some people have asked him if he is going to get a riding lawn mower.  He told them he wants a push mower for the exercise. Hia philosophy is to keep living and keep moving.  What an inspiration this man is. Can you just think about what changes he has seen in his life.  How amazing to have lived through all these major changes decade by decade.  He seems to have a very sweet spirit also.  You have to be a kind person to survive all these years.  God Bless you Mr. Overton.  May you continue on as long as you are happy, healthy and willing.

Thank you to our Veterans

It is Veteran’s Day.  I first want to say Thank You to all our veterans.  Thank you to all the families of those brave heroes that served and did not return.  We can never truly express our gratitude for all you have sacrificed for our country.  Too many times this holiday sneaks past without many realizing it came and went.  It is one of those holidays that doesn’t get much attention.  This holiday should be one we never forget.  Without the sacrifices of these brave individuals our country would not be as it is today. Here is a video of a powerful message given by President Ronald Reagan.  This video is a true and inspiring message of how everyone should honor and respect those in the military.  I hope you share this on this very special day.  We need this message more now even than ever.  We are Americans and we have these brave heroes to thank for that right.  God Bless America.

Heaven was needing a hero

In preparation of the Veteran’s Day holiday I was looking for an appropriate video and I saw this one.  It was made in the memory of all those lost in wars both past and present.  It is created with the music from country star Jo Dee Messina. I am sure you will all be touched when you listen to the lyrics.  Here are a few them …

I came by today to see you
I just had to let you know
If I knew the last time that I held you was the last time
I’d have held you, and never let go

Oh, it’s kept me awake nights, wondering
I lie in the dark, just asking why
I’ve always been told
You won’t be called home
Until it’s your time

I guess heaven was needing a hero
Somebody just like you
Brave enough to stand up
For what you believe
And follow it through
When I try to make it make sense in my mind
The only conclusion I come to
Is heaven was needing a hero
Like you ….

Thank you to all who are serving and have served .
