Thank You to the Veterans

Yesterday was Veteran’s Day.  I know this post should have been yesterday but when I found it I thought I still needed to share it.  It is a very well done example of honoring our veterans not just this day but any day.  How many of you take the time to say thank you when you board a plane with a uniformed soldier?  We should remember these soldiers who give up a lot for our freedom .  Thank you to all those veterans who have given so much and to those soldiers who are still working for us.  Next time you pass by a soldier be sure to thank them for their service.  Also, watch for those vets who wear hats proudly displaying their service.  Thank them everyday.  The joy you will get when you see them feeling appreciated is so worth it.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Tim McGraw Helping Veterans

This is a story about country star Tim McGraw helping veterans.  This happened back in 2012 and 2013 but I just heard about it so I am hoping you may not have hear either.  Tim was associated with Chase and Operation Homefront to launch a program which rewared 30 newly renovated mortgage-free homes to deserving veterans and their families in 2012.  He continued this project in 2013 to double that number by awarding an additional 31 in 2013.

“Launching our HomeFront program made last summer (2012) so much more special than I could have originally imagined.  I can honestly say that I got as much – or more – out of the experience than the veterans who received the new homes and assistance,” said McGraw.  “These families made an incredible mark on me, and I’m more grateful than I’ve ever been for the sacrifices they make every day to serve our country.   I’m just honored to be a part of this program, and I look forward to working with Chase and Operation Homefront to take it even further this summer (2013).”  I am not certain if this program continues this year but I thought that it deserved some attention.  What an awesome program to give back to those who have given so much for our country.  Tim has been known to “stop by” at other vet events to shake hands and thank them for their service.  What a great example of true patriotism.  Thanks Tim for all you are doing to help.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

Building Homes for the Brave

This is a story about a group from Habitat for Humanity.  This is a group of folks that builds or rebuilds homes for those that cannot afford a home on their own.  The ownesr of these home are required to assist with the building and will pay back a 0% interest loan.  The building is done mostly by volunteers.  It is a very rewarding program to be involved with.  What makes this story different is this group in San Diego is building their first ever “Building for the Brave” .  This project will create homes that will be for disabled veterans.  San Diego is a military town so they want to take care of our military. What a wonderful program this is for the needy but especially for our veterans who gave up everything to serve our country.    The homes are also being  furnished with state of the art furnishing adapted for the special needs of the veterans. It is really nice to see how much this means to the resident that will take ownership once the project is complete.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!

A Memorial Day Tribute

Memorial Day is a time to remember those who have lost thier lives serving our country. In honor of the men and women who have given so much we offer this beautifully done video.   This is one of those holidays where we can easily forget the real purpose.  We sometimes get caught up with the launch of summer, with barbecues with friends and family.  We enjoy our day off from work but do we really take the time to remember.  To remember those who lost their lives to preserve our freedom.   If you cannot attend any of the observances this is a good way to reflect on the sacrifices these people have made for our country.

We thank all who have lost a family member through service to this great nation.  We can never forget those who spent many days, weeks and even years away from their families and too often not return home. Memorial Day is to remember….and to honor.

Remember these great words, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” -John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

Have a GREAT day…by making it a great day for someone else!!!
